- Q: Usually I just have to sweep kitty litter off the bathroom floor, but now I have some on my carpet. Is it ok to use a vacuum?
- It depends on the vacuum. In older models with bags to collect the debris, kitty litter will create too much dust and eventually clog up the vacuum. If you have a vacuum like the Dyson, it will be fine. My Dyson has been doing duty for more than 8 years and lots of kitty litter over that time with no problems. good luck!
- Q: It's a big pain to loop them around those two hooks. I have a bad back and hate all that bending over to do so. Plus, when I turn the top hook to get the cord off and usable it gets all twisted. It's so nice with a canister vac to just touch the button with my toe and ZIPPP, it's all tidy.
- Sears does. Their Kenmore brands have retractable cords. I have one. It is a canister vacuum with carpet attachments. Works great does the job of two vacuums.

- if your windows are open, try to keepthem closed as much as possible..especially when its windy..alot of dirt and dust comes in that way..you can use a broom to sweep the carpet, it doesnt work as well as a vacuum, but it will be able to pick up some of the bigger particles that are in the carpet...for area rugs take them outside and shake them..if you have pledge or furniture polish, you can use that with a rag to pick up dust off of smooth surfaces, if you dont, just use a damp rag.. and dont feel bad about your situation...everyone goes through hard times sometimes, we have all been there, strong families like yours are the kind that stay together forever and thrive..keep your head up, things will get better for you!

As far as bugs are concerned, vacuuming and steam cleaning will help some, but no cleaning method can guarantee 100% removal. If you have a serious flee problem or something, you need to contact your exterminator before you do anything. Dry soil is abrasive and needs to be removed regularly to avoid causing wear patterns in your high traffic areas.
