- Q: I don't misuse them. I simply turn them on, vacuum the carpeted floors in my apartment, and promptly turn it off and store it in the laundry room. - If the hose still has suction but the carpet beater doesn't, there must be a clog somewhere or the roller has stopped rotating. Keep looking. Turn the vacuum cleaner upside down so you can see the bottom, turn it on and see if the brush spins. If not, there's your problem. The belt has come loose, which it shouldn't do that quickly, or something has gotten jammed and is preventing the brush from turning. It's usually long hair, or threads from the carpet or something. Unplug the machine and clean what needs cleaning.

- Washing machines, irons, and irons, I would say probably in the 1910s or 1920s, but dishwashers, dryers and hair dryers in the 1960s. I was 4 y/o when we got our first TV (1952) and was out of college and working when I got my first color TV (1973).
- Q: Who vacuums in the dark??
- Supposedly they are to help you to see where you need to vacuum and show the dirt more. But I haven't found that they do that. Other than that they are there for looks.

- Vacuum cleaners are simple machines. They only NOT work because the intake line is clogged, the bag is full, the motor doesn't work, or the exhaust vent is clogged. If you can start unhooking hoses and vents, find out what works, then re-attach hoses and vents until something doesn't work. If the motor spins and the bag is replaced, I'll bet you've got a clog in the intake hose. Disconnect it from the rest of the cleaner and jam a garden hose down the length of it. You may dislodge a wad of yuck or a golf ball or sock or something.

- I paid $400 for mine when it first came out. It's yellow. It's worth the extra loot too. The first time I vacuumed my carpets with it, I was appalled at how much fur and crap came out of my carpet. They also have a program that if your Dyson breaks, they'll come to your house and get it and fix it for $135 dollars.
- Q: I want to know if they make such a thing. I'm thinking of a vacuum cleaner but besides vacuuming, it sweeps floors and it mops as well. Do they make this? If so can anyone tell me where they sell it and what it's called? Links would be extra, extra helpful!
