- We had a rainbow vacuum when I was a kid. I really liked it. It wasnt heavy, and the dirt stayed in the water, not back into the air like most vacuums today. It finally died after about 20 years of use. Good Luck finding a vacuum today to last that long. I havent used a rainbow in years, but it was a great vacuum. It is also a Consumer Report Best Buy and that is against vacuums in the 3, 4, 5 hundred and even $1350 price range! It is heavier than I expected (about 20 pounds) but it really kicks some butt when in use. Again, it is so simple to switch from carpet to hardwood to the hose and has a clip to lock the power cord in place so it's not always in the way.

- It means like this.... In making a vacuum cleaner, since it is fairly complicated and made of many parts and does not come out exactly the same every time it is made, there are many small random effects that contribute to the amount of noise that the vacuum cleaner makes. The normal distribution is what we see whenever there are many random effects that are added together. - i bought a bissell from wal mart, i think it was 169, a heated power steamer or something like that. i've used it several times (not because it did a bad job the first time, i just have 3 dogs and DETEST pet hair everywhere) anyway, it does an excellent job getting rid of the pet hair, you just have to make sure and clean the brush and bottom of the steamer each time you use it so it doesnt' clog. but anyway, my overall experience is that it did well to clean my old carpets (they were here when we moved in) it dries quickly, it didn't leave a musty wet smell, and it's fast and easy to use. hope that helps
