- You need to have the carpet and padding that is wet pulled up and run a blower on it. I do not mean tear out the carpet and padding just lift it up so the blower will reach the wet area. Equipment rental places have them or some carpet cleaning companies use them also. Blowers are specifically made to dry carpets etc. it is not just a big fan. You need to make sure the subfloor (the plywood or concrete that is under the padding) is dry also. If there is already a bad smell you might want to spray the area under the carpet with mildew remover/bleach. DO NOT get any on the carpet ONLY underneath.

- Do not use a steam cleaner. it could make matters worse at this point. Take a piece of good ole duck tape, and double it over so it's sticky on both sides. Dab that on the spot then immediately switch spots on the tape and dab again. The sticky tape should pull the remainder out for you without spreading the ink to the rest of the carpet. Do not use a lint roller, use duck tape. If there is still a bit left, squirt the spot with some foaming shaving cream let it set for 15 minutes, blot and rinse with vinegar and water. I think the duck tape will finish the job. If there is still some left after the shaving cream take a clean damp cloth and punch the knuckle of your index finger into the cloth. Put it down on top of the stain and twist your hand clockwise. This removes the stain from between the threads without causing the fibers to get fuzzy.

- If it left streaks you should have gone over the carpet again with the machine. They are more effective and your hands. If you use the machine again boil your water so it is super hot and then go over the floor again.
