- Q: I spilled Coca-cola on my area rug. The rug is relatively inexpensive and I've never spilled liquid on it. I decided it would be a brilliant idea to sop up as much liquid as I could with a towel and paper towels and then pour baking soda all over it, which I then proceeded to rub in. (I know, idiotic). The stain is now hard and crusty and I cant seem to vacuum it out. Any advice?
- Not all is lost. Break up the crusties as much as possible and vacuum, probably just use the hose, not the various heads. Keep doing this until you'd removed as much as possible. If you have a clothes brush, use that to help as you vacuum. When you've done as much as you can, time to switch methods: first put a towel, shower curtain or whatever under your throw rug as you don't want to ruin the floor under neath.......if vinyl.......relax. Anyway. Make a solution of OxyClean.....I'd say a scoop to a quart of warm water.....mix well and then apply it to the stain.........if your carpet doesn't have latex on the back and you can move it to the tub.....pour the Oxyclean over the stain. Otherwise pour a bit on.......1/4 cup or so, rub with your fingers and immediately begin blotting it out with a clean towel......white or light colored just in case you get a color run from the towel. Repeat applying and blotting it up. That should do it. I doubt you'll need the whole quart. OH yes, finish with a clear water rinse and plenty of blotting. Check the towel or whatever underneath and replace it if wet. Let the rug air dry. No hair dryers as heat will set stains. Of course we hope like anything the OxyClean doesn't remove the color from your rug.....if you have bright colors.....use a weaker solution. OxyClean ihydrogenen peroxide which will bleach colors if in a very concentrated formula which it in the in the original mixture I mentioned.

- Use carpet tape, even if you have a rug pad beneath it. The tape is double sided and will secure the rug to the pad so it won't shift. You can also secure it with the tape on the border of your rug to prevent shifting.

- Q: What pigment is good for writing on the carpet?
- Big white clouds acrylic ~ ~ oil painting can be oil painting pen. You must clean the pen when you finishing using it. The pen that is made of weasel's hair and gouache pen are all ok.
- Q: My lil' sister had a sleep over in our living room the other night and her and her friends got chewing gum walked into the carpet in about 5 places.. It's an old carpet but that's not the point really, its dried solid hows best to remove it?
- Freeze it and use a butter knife, can use ice or buy a can of gum remover.
- Q: I was planning to wash my carpet(with my carpet washer) and there were some really tough stains in it. So I put some bleach with the pre-wash solution and I sprayed it onto the stains. After I washed it, I noticed white stains on my carpet (my carpet is light tan). I know that I have removed the color completely, but can I re-dye it with tea? If I can't please offer suggestions.
- I did this a few weeks ago when I was cleaning my toilet. We have blue carpet that is variegated, but there were several dots where the bleach had dropped on the carpet. I don't know if it would work for you, but I used a purple colored pencil and covered over that with a gray colored pencil. It's not perfect, but it's no longer visible to the naked eye. Unless you're down on your hands and knees looking for a spot :) Hope this helps somewhat. Try a tan colored pencil on one spot and just see what it looks like.

- LOVE Axiom rugs! I had them for my old lease horse and they're fantastic :) The usual Saxon or Weatherbeater rugs didn't last as long as the Axiom ones did. I'll be getting them for my new horse as soon as I have some spare money. They're also good people to deal with on OKorder. They send it really quickly.
