Q: I have a large square area rug (12x16ish), it has different colored (brown, blue, burgundy, tan, etc.) squares all over it. It got left out side in the weather most of the winter. If I were to dry it out and clean it could I do anything to make it nicer? Like, could I paint it or something? I put it outside in the first place because it was starting to get thin in spots and some of it was faded. t had to be vacuumed all the time because it was like colored dry rotted thread dust was coming off of it. I was wondering if anyone could come up with some last resort ideas before I take it to the dump. I'm not really sure if it could be painted because its like carpet???? but is there a type of vacuum-able fabric or something I could glue to it or any ideas like that?: sounds like the rug is pretty much worn out, I think the only thing you could do would be to make small door mats from the areas that are still somewhat in good shape and throw the rest away. Once a material has become so degraded as you describe, there is is no way to save it, plus it only makes cleaning and maintenance more difficult because it is constantly falling apart right under your feet.

Q: I'm planning on helping my dad put some new carpet in our family room. We measured it and its ABOUT 13.5ft by 13.5ft. Any body know how much that would run for? Q: steam clean rugs: I am in massachusetts. Highly recommend going to home depot or lowes and renting a rug doctor for about 25 bucks and buying their carpet cleaning solution for 10 bucks. The rental is for 24 hours. It works. Gets rid of pet smells, pet hair, dirt, coffee stains, fruit punch stains,and makes carpets (and sofas!) look brand new, yes even white carpets. Don't fall for those sears and stanley steemer commercials. They are truly too much money.

Q: I just bought a new roll of Reptile Carpet. I've never used Reptile Carpet before, but I decided that you have to experiment with substrates to see what your reptiles like best. Anyway, I want to know how to clean the carpet. The roll I bought came in a kit with other things made by Zilla (reptile supply brand. and it didn't come with any instructions on cleaning the carpet. I know you can clean it, because I've read online comments on Zilla being a very good brand of carpet because of it's eco-friendly (made out of recycled bottles re-usable by washing). Could tell me how they clean their Zilla Reptile Carpet, or any other brand that is basically that same as Zilla's carpet? I would like to know how you clean it, what detergents/soaps (if any) to use, and how to dry (is it machine dryable, or air dryable?): Repti Carpet

Q: Okay I can't decide which carpet cleaner is better, the New Hoover Platnium Series, or the Rug Doctor (The Blue One) They both look nice. But Which Is BETTER. Name the Pros and cons of each Money is NOT A CON for me. and does the rug doctor leave the carpet vet I heard.: The rug doctor will leave allot of soap in your carpet, which will create mold. Personally I do not trust buying carpet cleaners scene as i own my own carpet cleaning company ha ha but I deff do not recommend the rug doctor to anyone, its not safe.

Q: I recently took out the carpet in my apartment. Between the carpet and the mat under that, there were thin, wispy strands off fiber-like material and quite a lot of it. Is this asbestos? Or is it normally used under carpets. Also, if it is asbestos, is my health in danger?: Highly doubt it. Asbesto's was found in ceiling and floor tile in a compressed manner. Also was used to rap pipes as insulation, but inside the rapping the asbesto's is powdery. So your alright, but wear a face mask, those carpet fibers are yucky.

Q: Wet Basement Rug Mystery: Chris, Look directly above where that rug is or was (overhead) Do you see any kind of a slow leak or evidence of a leak anywhere around there overhead that is dripping down onto the floor? That would be my guess. Good luck
