- Q: I have hard woods floors in my new home, I'd rather not spend a lot of money on buying carpet and getting it installed. I've looked around town, and I can't find any inexpensive area rugs, all of them are $150+. I know there's a lot of good deals online but I can never seem to find them. Does anyone know of any websites that sell inexpensive area rugs 8x10 and bigger and around like $50, and some cheap home decor websites?

- Q: An orange candle spilled on my light burber carpet. I've removed all the wax but now I'm stuck with an orange stain!!! Any suggestions on how I could remove it?
- Hi There is two ways to remove wax from carpet. 1/ Use the edge of a butter knife to carefully scrape off or lift up as much solid wax as you can .Use a dry clean white terrycloth place it over the wax spot then heat it with a iron on low setting because most homes have polyester carpet, and if the iron gets too hot, it'll melt the carpet. Keep checking the spot every ten seconds or so, moving the terrycloth so that a clean spot is on the carpet. 2/ Which is the better way. Use the edge of a butter knife to carefully scrape off or lift up as much solid wax as you can Heat up a full kettle of water and pour it slowly on the carpet at the same time with a wet vac vacuum up the water. Keep on doing this until the wax is removed. For the orange stain I would recommend using a wet vac and slowly pour hot water (almost to the boiling point) on the spot and vacuum it up at the same time (this will open up the dye ports on the carpet fibre releasing the stain. and remove the residue from the carpet). If the stain is still visible than use a little carpet spotter on it or Dawn dishwashing liquid (2 or 3 drops into one cup of water) and repeat step 1. The stain may come back in a few days so you may have to do this a few times. Please DO NOT put anything on the carpet that was not made for carpet. At this point if the stain is still there please call a carpet cleaner. From a carpet cleaner of 14 years

- because you've not moved in, i trust that you landlord is to blame for replacing the carpets. you're sparkling that this isn't proper. Why do not you your landlord meet with a professional cleansing crew, to ascertain in the journey that they have got any tricks that your spouse would not have get admission to to. - also, perchance that's the matting lower than the carpet it fairly is the curprit now. if so, you are able to pull up the carpet, replace the matting, and lay the prevailing carpet down. yet another determination is to break the lease and take her to small claims courtroom for the deposit and lease you've paid. i imagine you would have about a ninety 8% possibility of prevailing.

- You can still wash it. Make sure you hang it out to dry though. If you're worried about it not being so waterproof after just get a can of that spray on stuff for shoes and it should do the trick. You should re-waterproof rugs at the start or end of each season.

- Q: Would a K?rcher pressure washer clean a rug as successfully as it cleans a flagstone?
- Its not a good idea due to the fact if you wet the rug to much it will take forever to dry but besides that if the rug is not hung properly to dry it will start to smell like mildew.

- Q: My fiance and I are moving into our brand new house this week. The home is brand new but has been sitting empty for nearly a year. My question is with the brand new carpeting, I know I should at least vacuum to remove the loose/excess fibers in the carpet, but I'm also debating renting a basic carpet cleaner from Home Depot. Would that be overkill or should it be done?
- Depends if it's a good quality carpet. If it's a cheap thin carpet I wouldn't advise you deep clean it as the water will saturate it and also make the underlay and floor boards damp which makes it smell. Unfortunately we have that problem now from washing our carpet. I would suggest maybe using shake n vac if you have that in the states just to freshen it up.
