- You can, if you are concerned about the crease between the pillow showwing up, you could buy some batting and wrap it length wise around the cushions. I did this a few years ago when I needed to slip cover a hideous sofa I had, and I didn't have a lot of money for batting, so I wrapped the three cushions in some comforters that I no longer was using, and you never would have known, it also made the couch more comfortable and freed up some space in the hall closet.

- Some of the suggestions you already have are pretty good, especially the upright attempt. But measure carefully first, the only suggestion I can add is to remove the legs. I do upholstery, the legs should be attached to the frame with screws, so check and see, then carefully remove (make sure you put all the screws into a baggie or other container so they don't disappear. Removing the legs should make the profile of the sofa narrower, so if you can slip it in upright, that will give you a few less inches in width, then when its in the room, all you have to do is re-attach the legs. - Q: I'm moving cross country and have a very limited decorating budget. I wanted to buy an Ikea sofa but I know how uncomfortable they are. I have an idea to create a sectional sofa/daybed by using two twin bed sets minus the frames and placing them in an L-shape with lots of pillows on top. I have my eye on two Wolf Slumber Express mattresses from Walmart that reviewers say are extremely firm. I'm thinking of just placing two twin mattresses on top of each other, thereby getting some sinking action like on a real sofa instead of putting them on a wooden foundation by themselves. Does anyone have any idea what happens when you put two mattresses on top of each other - do they slip off of each other or do they pretty much stay in position?
- Your better off using the foundation underneath, which is specifically designed to supply the mattress with support. Keep in mind that mattresses and sofa's are designed for their intended purpose, so substituting one for the other isn't likely to be effective long-term. Mattresses are designed to absorb the weight of the individual spread over the entire surface area of the mattress, placing your entire weight on a few springs will result in them breaking down quickly. Using a second mattress will only expedite the wear and tear even more.
