Q: How doI wire a ceiling chain light to wall switch? I want to stop using the chain to turn the light on and off. I hane already installed the wall switch and the wiring in the box but not sure how to connect the wiring in the box to the ceiling light wiring.
intreped said it well but i want to know how did you run the wire through the wall switch . hopefully you ran it direct with the switch breaking the hot wire . so you will have one black and one white wire . before you hook it up use a lamp to make sure you have the right wires . and you don't have to worry about polarity the fan has forward and reverse and the light buld dos not care.
Q: I just installed a backup camera however I am having trouble wiring it. I've read that I need to tap into the reverse wire, however I went through many wires and couldn't figure out which one is it. My cameras wire is designed to be wired in the trunk, so the wire under the hood or dash is not a possibility. 2003 G35 Sedan
You can remove your tail light and tap into the reverse wire there. It is easy to find just look at your reverse light bulb and use a multimeter to test for positive and negative (that would be the right way to do it at least). If your wanting to have the camera able to be on all the time and viewed from the headunit then you would need to wire the camera to switched accessory so it has power when the car is on and hook up your head units wiring (which you will need to do anyway to make the h/u switch to b/u cam when you go into reverse) to the reverse wire.
Q: I been having chargeing problems, and I found a tan with black stripe wire in wire harness by the alternator and I cant fig out where it goes. it has a factory conn. on it with a 3/8 diam. hole in it
The firing order should be 1-3-4-2 (on cap) The cylinder order; from front to back 1-2-3-4 Most distributor caps will be marked with the proper numbers if yours is not you may want to get a more expensive cap
Q: The wire from the cicuit breaker
The standard house dryer circuit is fused at 30 amps and is wired with number 10 wire (no. 10 wire is rated at 30 amps). I've wired many of them in my life, including those which are checked by the county/city inspectors.
Q: Hi,I'm looking to change the outlets and the switch and light fixture in a bedroom of a home built in 1948. The outlets are original to the home I think. Will I have to fish ground wire throught to the panel box for my new receptacles? Or just install new 2 slot outlets? Why the different looking wires? Is the older wire copper with a silver colored coating to indicate being neutral or is this an old aluminum wire? The hot wire is red plastic coated and looks modern to me.
In '48 your house won't have a ground wire as you found out. If it is wired with BX cable ( metal clad) you can see in the basement or crawl space, the ground is actually taken to the outlet by the metallic casing. Then all you would have to do is get a bag of ground wires with screws already crimped on them at Home Depot called Greenies. You screw them into one of the holes inside the box and attach the other end to the ground screw on the switch or outlet. The red casing you are describing actually sounds like red electrical tape wrapped around deteriorating wire in the box as the other wire looks raggy. The wire you see that looks aluminum MAY be aluminum someone added in the '70's when al wire was used, but BOTH would be replaced and there would have been a ground wire. I don't know why it looks silver, but I have seen old wiring like that and it is usually copper. If you see the BX cable you are good adding the ground wire, if it is a silvery looking cloth casing, then install new NON-grounded receptacles.
Q: Trying to wire up a toogle swithch for boat light. Have a positive and negiative wire coming from the battery. I have 2 wires coming out of the toggle switch and two wires coming from the light. What goes where? Thanks

Q: I'm just wondering would i be able to connect a split 8 gauge wire with wire nuts like i'll explain:Use two wire nuts instead of one and divide the copper wire on both ends and wire nut both sides together with 2 nuts. The whole apparatus would look kinda like this:----lt;gt;---- with the wire nuts connecting the two arrow thingsThanks anyone
Even though you had been wise to make use of the noalox, or antioxidant, i might ratehr endorse that you get the suitable gauge of wire in copper and rewire the entire circuit. The intent that I say that's that your oven is a excessive resistance circuit and aluminum does no longer like high resistance. With excessive resistance on aluminum, the aluminum wire will start running or moving under the strain and can eventually burn out the connection. In the event you have got to leave it aluminum, don't use a wire nut, but get a split nut from an electrical provide, use teh same goop on it, then get two wrenches for the best way that you just ought to screw the break up bolt to the nut, tighten the item down as tight as humanly viable, the wrap it with a specified tape that the electrical give may also have. It's not the commonplace electrical tape, but a stretchable tape and also you wrap it tight at the least 3 or a bit of extra inches on all sides of the nut. This may insulate the connection in order that it are not able to be shorted out in any respect. Mine had the same aluminum connection and when I changed the stove, which was difficult wired to the stove, I simply replaced the entire wire. Mainly the field is just not too some distance away fromthe stove due to the fact it wants to be as just about it to decrease resistance. To scan what you have got performed, that you would be able to take a low-cost volt meter from Radio shack, set it on the correct settings for measuring voltage on 220, and if the needle goes to 220 + or - a bit, you're nice in the meanwhile.
Q: It every download on lime-wire basic free and is the down load of lime-wire basic free is lime wire really illegal thanks
Limewire is legal. Downloading any file that's under copyright (commercial music, movies, software etc) without paying for it is illegal, no matter what software you use to do it. Using Limewire to download the latest version of Linux is legal. Using it to download music that you would normally have to pay for is illegal. If caught, you face a lawsuit, a fine between $750.00 and $150,000.00 per file, and up to five years in prison.
Q: How do I wire this ceiling fan? There are two house wires coming from ceiling-one white, one black. There are three wires on the fan- one white, one solid black, and one black with a white stripe. There is one light switch in the room that will be operating the fan/light (the fan has a light on it). I wired the white wire to the white wire, the black wire with the white stripe to the black wire, didn't know where to wire the solid black wire to. Now only the light part of the fan works, the fan does not work at all. Where does the solid black wire go? I need both the fan and the light to work.
The solid black wire on the fan is power to the fan motor. The black wire with the white stripe is power to the fan light. I assume that your fan has two pull chains. One turns the light on and off, the other turns fan motor on, and repeated pulls selects speed. You have three choices; 1.You can connect the black wire from the ceiling, the black wire from the fan and the black/white wire from the fan all together using an electrical wire nut. Now when you turn on the wall switch, both the light and fan have power and you can control them by pulling the chains. When you turn off the wall switch, you will not have light or fan. 2. You can wire as in 1 above and also connect the two wires which currently go to the wall switch. This will supply power continuously to the fan/light. You will operate the fan/lite entirely by the pull chains on the fan. The wall switch will now be inoperative. 3. You can buy a remote control fan unit at Lowes or Home Depot for around $30. This unit consists of two pieces, one goes into the fan, the other replaces your current wall switch. The wall mounted unit has buttons to turn on the fan light as well as to select the fan speed. It works by radio control similar to a garage door opener. This unit will not work with a hugger type fan mount.
Q: What are the range specs when testing resistance on your spark plug wires ?
For the best answers, search on this site https://shorturl.im/OZ4TL 2 -1 ohms doesn't make sense. Take a better look at your meter, no offense intended. Generally they have positions for different levels of resistance, from 2 ohms to 200k ohms; choosing the right setting will give you a better idea of the right reading, which should be around 2000 ohms. You needn't change them for the heck of it, but it's not a bad idea. The corrosion/rust is normal, it wouldn't cause you any trouble.
