- Q: Which side of non-slip rug pad goes over wall-to-wall carpet?
- I assume you are using a rug grip for an area rug to be placed over wall to wall carpet? There is a specially made type that is actually gummy on both sides which keeps the rug from creeping. It doesn't matter which side you put against the carpet or area rug. The other suggestion that I would recommend doing is securing the edges with two sided carpet tape. It will not harm either the area rug or the carpet, but it really helps keep people from tripping over the edges and keeps the rug secure.
- Q: I used my mother's carpet shampooer to clean some minor stains on my carpet and now my carpet stinks and it didn't before!
- once a carpet gets wet, all you smell are the odors that have accumulated ,wether you shampood spots or not... my suggestion is to have the entire carpet steam cleaned by a professional... 3 rooms usually undre 200 dollars , servicemaster is a great company to use... also stanley steamer. ask if they can put a deodorizer in while steaming also, harmless to the carpet, but very customer appealing because it makes your house smell fresh while the carpet is wet... it takes a t minimum of 12 hours for the carpet to dry, so make sure you can get around the house after this is done... and after it dries, all you do is vacuum and its like brand new carpet... god luck
- Q: I have had a rug over top of a heat vent for a while, but I wanted to make sure it is safe.
- It depends upon what kind of heat vent you have. If it is a floor furnace, it would get hot enough that it could start a fire. If it is a forced air heating duct, the rug would prevent the air from coming into the room, but the temperature of the air coming out isn't high enough to cause a problem. If it is a forced air heating duct, you could pull the register out of the floor, cut a hole in the rug the same size as the duct boot and slip the register back into the hole so you would have the warm air coming into the room.
- Q: ok my parents are saying that they want to have wood floor in both of the living room also in the hall ways and they also want rugs in the bedroomwhat do u think
- Wood floors are real nice, unless you live where it's cold on your floors in the winter, or if you have a dog with noisy claws, or if you're the kind of person who dusts everyday. Rugs are nice because you can change them out easier than carpeting.
- Q: I ordered an area rug online but the dimensions are a little off...I'm wondering if I can just cut it to make it fit? If so, how would I go about doing this so that it will cut evenly and all the way through (what kinds of tools, etc could I use)? Also, any suggestions on how I can keep the ends from fraying after its cut? Thanks so much!!
- I live in Phoenix and I took a large piece of carpet out of an unused bedroom and to it to Home Depot and gave them the dimensions I wanted it to be. They cut it and bound the edges beautifully. I now use it under my dining room table. Call around to carpet dealers. Don't try it yourself.
- Q: I am trying to decorate my house and I'm really stuck on what color of area rug to get for my living room!!!My walls are beige with white trim. Hardwood wood floors in the living room and bedrooms. Black granite floors in the halls, kitchen, breakfast area, and bathrooms. I am going for a mainly neutral color scheme overall (a lot of brown and black), except the bedrooms will be done in their own individual style. In the living room I have a brown double recliner and brown curtains with black rods. I have a couch and love seat that I'm looking to replace but have not shopped for anything yet (not until I have the money.
- I would go with the red for that particular rug and pick up the color in accessories around the room. It will be much more visually interesting. If you choose a different rug you could pick something with browns and tans with some other color in it. IMO you really need some color. Red isn't my favorite but I think it would look fantastic. I prefer orange, teal or spring green. But the accent colors you choose don't have to be bright. They can be soft blues, yellows or greens etc. Some great moodboard inspiration links below
- Q: What is the carpet trace made of?
- Nylon
- Q: Me and my husband have been searching apartments for rent and 90% come with carpets. Being both from Europe, we are not used to the smell of carpet. We just wondered what happened in this country that so many people use carpets.
- well theres not really a big reason for it its just that most of the time its the living room and bedrooms that have carpet which makes the floor warm, when you are just walking in your house barefoot you dont want to walk on a cold hardwood floor the whole time, some like carpet because it can be considered a luxory ( i have no idea why it is i guess because its expensive ) others have it just because of the color! well thats the only reasons i have known. if you are buying the apartment you can always take the carpet out of the house, thats what we had to do in our house because of my 2 littlest brothers they would always spill drinks etc. on the floor so we just pulled up the carpet, and there you have it. =)
- Q: whats the diffrence between carpets and rugs?
- It depens on where you live, but carpets are usually smaller then rugs and only cover a section of a room. Rugs are usually wall to wall, but some people call carpets area rugs.
- Q: Iam looking for others that can help and inspire a begninng rug hooker. I just completed my first project using burlap and wool yarn. I cannot find the same burlap or yarn in the area so would love to find some via internet or the SC/GA area. Walmart carries a very flismy burlap which I do not like, and acrylic yarns which split
