Q:I have a Large area rug that I need cleaned. A woman that had a HOUSE TRAINED dog gave it to me. I want to clean it as the dog walked and layed down on this rug as well. The dog never urinated on this rug which is good. It just smells like dog so I want to get it cleaned. I don't think a rug doctor will do the trick. Does anyone out there know where I can take it to be cleaned. Again this a LARGE. thanks. I have no problem explaining this to his parents, but would like to fix it if possible.: Cut out the burnt section and glue in a piece of scrap carpet! Go to a carpet store and get a carpet repair tool. They're only a few bucks. Some adhesive disks and carpet glue. Now take your cutting tool and cut out the damaged section. Be careful to not cut through the carpet fibers themselves. Next cut a replacement section from the donor carpet also being careful not to cut the carpet fibers. Next you will peel off the cover on the adhesive disk and place it in the empty hole. Now put some glue around the edge of the hole and insert your patch trying to match the grain of the carpet. (Carpet has a distinct grain). Press the patch firmly into place and put a weight on top of the area. Let it dry at least twenty four hours before putting the carpet to use.

Q:I already have carpet in my house.The carpet is less than a year old.I was thinking of changing the (top)carpet only since the padding is still in excellent condition but our family says to just get our floor laminated.which is cheaper?: When we bought our house we ripped all the carpet out and replaced it with laminate wood and ceramic tile. I love my laminate wood! It's not as noisy or cold as you might think. We put down a good moisture/noise barrier underneath it which gives it a solid, quiet sound. And it's not cold at all, it stays the temp of your house. Carpet holds alot of dirt, mold, bugs, and bacteria, no matter how much you vaccuum. And it's terrible for allergy sufferers. I have no allergy problems now that we have no carpet. Remember you can always put rugs down where you need some softness. We bought all of our flooring from a discount builder supply store. We paid $1.00/sq. ft. for the laminate wood and 68cents/sq. ft. for the 12x12 tile. There's no need to pay high prices for this stuff, just make sure it's good quality. We saved even more money by doing the work ourselves. I say ditch the carpet and go for laminate wood.

Q:The rug is 6' x 8': Try Duct or masking tape...not to stick it to the floor but turn it over....attach the duct tape to the outer edge of the under rug and pull it back until it curves just a wee bit. Not an extreme curve just a little....run the tape back a foot or two and flip it back over...maybe the pressure of the tape pulling will keep the corners from lifting. Good Luck!

But I would recommend you hire a carpet cleaning service. With a rug doctor you really need 2 people and it's really not an easy job. I think the steamer method that the profressionals use is best because it doesn't leave any soap behind in the carpet which attracts dirt and the carpet will have to be cleaned again sooner.
