- Q: My front door leads into my living room. The oak floor right infront of the door is so messed up. The rest of the floor is fine. How do I do a good sand/cleanup job on just this part????
- No matter what, if you don't do the whole floor your going to see the difference. Stain or no stain, the floor has aged and the surface has darkened, I'm assuming this door is an outside entrance door. A couple ways I would do this is 1: Tape off a section, be it square, rectangular,1/2 octagon, hexagon, circle, Whatever, make it look like an entrance landing. Sand and finish it however you want. 2: Cost more $ but would solve future problems, Again have a shape in mind, lay it out and cut it out. If need use build that section up with an underpayment made for this purpose. Replace that area with some nice slate tiles, or whatever you like using a thin set mortar.You can buy nice trim for the surface change
- Q: it is in my bathroom and it is so stuck to the floor i can't get some of it up. any advise? thanks
- You will probably need a razor floor scraper that may be purchased at Home Depot. One is made by Qep. It's about $30 but well worth it. If the floor is wood, you don't want to use this, use a wedge scraper. If the floor is concrete, use the razor, fill any chips with floor leveling compound. When complete, re-floor.

- the floor is my dance studio is a sprung floor with tough laminate over the top.no you can't buy it cheap as you have to get your floor sprung.laminate flooring is similar but as it is not sprung if overused you may give yourself shin splints.the flooring shop locally just buy a scratch resistant one. hope i helped god luck with that victoria xx
- Q: Do stages have sprung floors. I heard it is bad to dance on a floor that doesn't give any. So if the stage isn't sprung you could get injured. So do they have sprung floors? Thanks in advance!
- No they don't. But that is why we use our plié. So we don't get injured, but get the same spring.

- If steps aren't a problem the 2nd floor of a three story apt building is the best. Safety is one reason, another is insulation. In the winter it doesn't take as much to heat a 2nd floor apt because there is heat being provided from above and below. In the summer the 1st floor is the easiest to cool and the 3rd floor the hardest. Some people also like them because they get some exercise with the steps.
- Q: We are redoing a house and all the flooring had to be ripped up because of animal smells& stains(this is a fore closer we bought hopefully to retire in)anyway dining rm has beautiful med dk hardwood on it, and it is open floor plan,thinking of cork for kitchen, any body used cork? how does it wear? difficulty in putting down? - Cork is hypoallergenic as has a natural substance in it that makes it resistant to mold and insects. Cork is a sustainable environmentally friendly product and has a great appearance.I would phone a reputable flooring store and make sure you have someone that has experience install it. It is a personal preference of to what you choose, my friend loves her linoleum as she finds it so easy to care for. It looks like tile and I have seen people sitting at her table reach down and touch it. They have very realistic patterns. Hope this helps.
