- I've purchased several sofas and sectionals from Z Gallerie (they carry a variety of brands) and I've always had great luck with them. You might want to check them out. Their prices are fairly reasonably for the quality and they tend to last longer than most which gives you greater value in the long run. In general, avoid sofas and sectionals that have sewn-in cushions. Since you cannot flip and rotate the cushions you cannot maximize their life. How often does anyone actually sit in the middle of the sofa, right? A good salesperson will be willing to unzip the cushions and show you the construction going on inside. I recommend foam cushions that are wrapped in a blanket of down for more comfort and loft; also the down blanket can be [somewhat] fluffed.

- Use resolve carpet cleaner that comes in granules...Its easy and works well. All you do is scrub it into your sofa let it sit for 1/2 hour or so and sweep up with a vacuum cleaner.You will be amazed how well it works!

- You can stay in Japan only if you are under 21 with your father SOFA status holder. Dependent visa is for someone whose parents have working visa in Japan and again, under 21. If you are 23, you can't get any Japanese visa as dependent. You have to get your own working or other visa. Addition: If you are 21 or older, you have to be dependent on your father to live in Japan. Meaning that more than a half of your income comes from your father. Are you in that condition? If so, you can live in Japan. But again, you can't work even if you moved to Japan with this rule. What are you going to do in Japan?

- it depends on what kind of material the sofa is made out of leather is really difficult to fix but most other things can just be sewn up if your decent with a needle and thread, otherwise contact the manufacturer and they can normally fix it... for a price

- Take out the foam that's inside the cushion and take it to a foam sales place (look up foam in your phone book) Many places will cut it the exact size of your current sofa cushion. Look for something thicker or ask them for advice on one that won't deflate as much. There might be a better quality foam that you can buy that retains its loft better.

- They BOTH are considered the same thing ... I think it's all in how you were taught. Both are proper, but I, personally, like to call it a SOFA ... sounds more sophisticated!
