- Q: I'm thinking of replacing an old upholstered couch with a microfiber sofa. I have a teenager and a (non-shedding) dog and in the past I've had my furniture and rugs professionally steam cleaned as needed. Does anyone know if microfiber will hold up to a high-traffic household where the muddy-footed dog sneaks on the furniture? In your experience is washable microfiber really washable or will it look terrible the first time I clean it?
- I have a white microfiber sofa that cost $5,000. (yes white. yes $5,000). Also, two dogs and a cat. It's washable if you get a steam cleaner. The salespeople imply that you can just use a damp sponge to remove stains. This is no more or less true than any other fabric. They also tell you to not use a steam cleaner because it ruins the grain or something. All I can say is it ain't a miracle fabric. It gets dirty and then, over time, it gets really dirty, just like all furniture, and it needs to be cleaned. Given the cost I lived in hell with my couch for several years. My husband purchased it and I was on pins and needles just sitting on the darn thing. Well, the dog ate some bacon grease and I came home from work to bacon vomit all over the couch. Called a professional a few days later and he said it was too late, I should have called him immediately. That's when I just steamed it myself and it's perfectly fine and I don't worry about it anymore. Also, I have micro fiber footstools and I take the covers off and throw them in the wash. No problem. However, it's been five years and it all looks a little worn because it is worn. Don't pay more because you think it's indestructible. Buy it because it looks nice or you like the way it feels. In the end, it's just another fabric.

- The sofa is fine. For a shabby chic living room, choose a lot of pale colors, preferably white. The shabby chic style is light and feminine. Add some fresh flowers to the room, romantic floral painting, vintage accessories etc. If you are going for bright colors, than I would choose earth tones such as greens and blues. But hot pink would look great with brown as well. ;) Add some throw pillows to the couch, some colorful art work on the walls, an area rug, etc. Hope this helps and good luck! =)
- Q: How can I remove candle wax from a microfiber sofa?
- Let the wax harden, and then carefully scrape it off with a box cutter blade. If you heat the wax, it will only make a bigger mess, and if you try to peel if off with your fingers, you might end up making it harder to get the rest of the pieces off. With microfiber, you should be able to gently scrape it off with the edge of a box cutter blade. Good luck!

- Q: I just bought an expensive recliner leather sofa I am scared of the rats as they come at night in my home. So will they try to chew the leather sofa?
- I realize it may seem like a anguish to alter clothes to play with them, but when you don't want your just right clothes to get all holey then i'm afraid you're going to don't have any alternative! As the entire different persons have mentioned (apart from the stupid rip their enamel out comment, rats have to bite to maintain their teeth the right length, as such it is a part of their most simple common behaviour. As irritating as it usually is, the ratties do not know what stuff they're allowed to chew and what they are not... It is all of the identical to them and there is no way of them understanding or else, regardless of how clever they're. I have some crap garments that i hold in with the rat components in my cabinet, then quickly exchange into them earlier than i play with the rats. As for the sofa, identical factor again; they do not know they aren't imagined to chew it! I might advise placing a thick throw or duvet over it in order that will get chewed rather. I do know this is not what you want to hear, but i am hoping it helps!
- Q: Moving on sat, my room is going to be considerably smaller so i was thinking of just getting a futon instead of a smaller bed so i can have more room when im not sleeping. Looking for one that is comfy and looks good. (Comfort is the main concern but if it looks good too, thats a bonus.) Not looking to spend an arm and a leg, but i gotta do what i gotta do. Thanks
- Futons are great space savers but not really practical for every day use and the cushions never stay in place properly when you use it as a sofa. Plus they can be a bit low. If you can cut back on other stuff you want to buy then invest what you save in buying as good a sofa bed as you can. Much nicer to sit on and some can be folded away with the bedding in place so you don't need to find room to store the pillows and duvet.
- Q: i have just ordered a new white leather corner sofa with black trim ie the black is minimal like where your feet go etc also big snuggle chair, and i dont really know what colour to paint my walls as at the moment they are cream with a black high gloss dado rail and my feature wall is black flock but id like to change it as im getting the new sofa i was thinking red but i have the red,white silver theme in my kitchen and i was thinking white but then again white on white may not be a good idea as i want the sofa to pop out, i was thinking about lime green for my feature wall im so confused much or any help would be greatly appreciated regards Michelle :)

- im not sure what 'a little sofa thing' is lol. look at the room from the entrance. if it looks cluttered, then its too much. if it does not look cluttered and there is plenty of room to walk around, im sure it is fine. you can never have too much seating if the space is available.
