Q: I want to entirely paint a Sofa and Wingback........ and im scared lol !!!....?Ok.... I have a old Sofa and matching chairs. Ive recently had a large patio cover installed over the rear of my house and would like to use the furniture...... and make it like a living room in the backyard... I'm thinking of painting the sofa and chairs and would like to use a paint that will make the furniture somewhat weatherproof as well..... The furniture will be under the very large patio cover..... so it will not be rained on at all, but will be exposed to humidity, condensation, ...... and pool water on the tushy..lol Sooo.... Is there a paint that i can use to paint the sofa and chairs entirely .... something that would give the furniture a waterproofing....rubber like coating?? thus changing indoor furniture .... to outdoor furniture.....Thank for reading....
The table: no problem. Sand it and use exterior latex paint in your color of choice. The chairs and sofa: problem. You are never going to keep the moisture out of the stuffing/padding no matter what you apply to the upholstery. You might be able to use them outdoors for one season but after that they are going to be moldy. If you can find a humidity resistant stuffing material I would suggest stripping the chair and sofa to the frame, re-stuff them and re-upholster in one of the newer weather resistant fabrics. I would waterproof the wood frame first and paint any exposed wood with exterior latex. Good luck!
Q: When I was a kid we had a sofa that felt like velvet, but it was much cheaper. Recently, I thought it might be microfiber, but the more I read about it the less sure I am. Could that be the right material? Does microfiber feel similar to velvet?
No, it does not. It was likely velveteen, very similar to velvet, less expensive and not as thick and luxurious. Microfiber is another class of fabric, way down on the quality list. I would never choose microfiber for anything but a duster and sofa material should be cotton or silk or velvet, which is a blend of silk and cotton. Fine metallic threads are a wonderful addition to upholstery fabric but, velvet is my favorite for chairs. A floral with metallic threads is great on a sofa, or velvet. I love velvet. But it should be upholstery quality - more durable than something you would wear. Microfiber is paper thin and cheap. Cheap, cheap and more cheap. Not suitable for upholstery.
Q: Think about it. I mean, you have a white sofa/couch covered in red, yellow, blue, and green spots, get someone to spin the spinner around, and play twister on the twister sofa/couch.So what do you guys think? Good idea or what?
Uncomfortable. Butt on green, remote on red, beer on blue. No thanks.
Q: Can a sleeper sofa save a marriage?
Nope, it is great when a bunch of kids are over and I need an extra bed for them. Eddie has got the right idea I love having my own bedroom and all that new room that I HAD in the top of the closet that is now filled up with new shoes. All I have to do is get that damn chest of drawers of his out and I can make room for more shoes.
Q: I can't seem to find what I am looking for.here is an example - an online stores that might have something like this
ANY time you want or need a specific color for any upholstered furniture, it is easier and cheaper to just buy the style you like, then have it reupholstered. You can do-it-yourself. Upholstering is not terribly difficult and does not require many expensive tools. Most home-owners already have most of the tools upholstering requires. If you don't posses the skill, will, tools or time for DIY, professional upholsterers can do it for you quickly and within budget, especially if you buy the fabric first and transport the furniture yourself. Much of what they charge for is the material and transportation. Also, compare prices of various upholsterers in your area. In my small town, there are only a handful of real full-time upholsterers, yet the prices vary tremendously depending on the job. TIP: When you price-shop, TELL THEM in advance that they will be working on a brand new sofa. They will be happy to help you and more likely to offer a discount. Why? Because new furniture doesn't require repairs, has fewer nasty surprises like broken parts or (EEEK) creepy-crawly bugs inside!
Q: I'm considering down-sizing my living area in the hopes of gaining more floor space and was thinking about doing away with my bed and chair and getting a sleeper sofa in their place.I've always slept on a bed with a box spring and mattress and was wondering if any one had any suggestions, experience, or opinions on the modern sleeper sofa. Are they comfortable? Can you get a good nights sleep on them? Are they durable and last as long as an ordinary bed? What is an affordable yet good quality one to get?I saw one online at Ashley's furniture called the Intermission. Anybody have an experience with that one?Just curious for now. Not sure if I want to go through with it or not .... I suppose it depends on the responses I get.Thanks.
Have you learnt the position in Caloocan the place you purchase those furnitures? Close fifth avenue, alongside the street of SANGANDAAN. Plenty of selections and its less expensive than going to places within the mall.
Q: They told me to take the front door of which I can do but also the outside door frame?? How do I take this off?? And is it an easy job to do and how do I fit it back on after my sofa is inside?? - plz help!!!!
I If you tip the sofa about a quarter turn toward the front it should go through unless it's a very large sofa or an exceptionally small door. I wouldn't recommend removing the door frame.
Q: My cat keeps urinating on my sofa and he has never done this before. He used to use his litter box all the time, but now he just goes on my sofa. We re arranged the room his litter box was in, could that be why he is going somewhere else now? I go to school now, and I am gone for a long time, so could he be going on the sofa because he is lonely?
There are a host of reasons why your cat is not using the litter box: Medical reasons (ie urinary tract infection, diabetes, kidney problems etc) - so do take your cat to a vet and exclude these first. Then the obvious: dirty litter box, new litter, fragranced litter (any change here could make your cat unhappy) new cat in the house a strange cat getting into your house and using the litter (your cat will not use it then) You also need to clean the sofa ASAP - either with vinegar and water or a special anti-pet furniture shampoo. If you do not get rid of the smell - cat will return to this place to do their business. Oh... DO NOT RUB your cats nose in it.....that just causes more problems of a different kind! I found this resource with problems / solutions - you may want to look at it:
Q: I was just removing some nail polish off my nails when I was sitting on the sofa (in the dark), and I decided that I needed to get a new cotton pad and put some nail polish remover (NPR from now on). Well, the nozzle part of the NPR bottle (the part that stops a whole load of it coming out) came off and got stuck in the lid and I didn't notice. Well, I went to pour it onto the cotton pad, and a WHOLE LOAD of it came out onto the sofa. Now there's a really strong smell coming from it, and my mum is practically crying (I don't know why, shes a bloody drama queen and the smell bothers her) and she's yelling at me. We can't afford to replace the sofa, so can anyone please please please tell me how to get rid of the smell (quickly)????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Ever Heard of Air Freshener.. WOW!! I think that it works..
Q: Leather treatment? sofa restoration?I’ve just bought a 2nd hand huge leather Chesterfield sofa with a genuine distressed leather look and some tiny cat scratches. I was told to get some leather treatment on it, but have absolutely no idea were to start.Any top tips anyone?
the only tip i can think of is to call a dry cleaner and find out what they use on leather or a furniture restorer. both in the yellow pages
