- Q:Moving on sat, my room is going to be considerably smaller so i was thinking of just getting a futon instead of a smaller bed so i can have more room when im not sleeping. - Futons are great space savers but not really practical for every day use and the cushions never stay in place properly when you use it as a sofa. Plus they can be a bit low. If you can cut back on other stuff you want to buy then invest what you save in buying as good a sofa bed as you can. Much nicer to sit on and some can be folded away with the bedding in place so you don't need to find room to store the pillows and duvet.

- well you don't disinfect your sofa, you sanitise it. rent a rug doctor (a carpet cleaning machine with upholstery attachments), and buy the appropriate chemicals. you need to know what fibres your carpet is composed of.

- You have not said what sort of ink or pen was used. Personally I find that: white spirit will remove Biro marks on leather, Fairy detergent or 1001 carpet cleaner and water will take off water based inks. However, wallpaper is a bigger problem not much you can do with that without leaving a mark of some kind - try an eraser for pencil or ink. If its bad I would strip off that piece paper from floor to ceiling and hang a new piece - assuming you have some paper left over that is..
- Q:No matter what i try she insists on scratching the sofa! She has two scratching posts, one vertical and one horizontal each in one side of the apartment and she does use them, but she also scratches the sofa no matter how hard i try to keep her from doing it. I tried a repellent spray but it doesn't seem to effect her at all.She is nurtured by the way.
- Get double sided tape for the edges of the sofa she scratches. Cats hate he feel of it on their paws. And get some better scratching choices for her - the cardboard scratch boxes they sell at pet store and Walmart and a sturdy piece of cat furniture with at least two levels, and one sisal wrapped post. The things they sell as scratching posts are generally to flimsy or small for a cat to get a good scratch and stretch, so they choose something else.

- Go leather and buy something that is not heavy. Natuzzi is usually the best in class and is usually reasonably affordable. Beware of bicast leather which is low quality leather.
- Q:I have three sofa pillows. They don't unzip. Two of them I managed to fit in my washer. (Seperate loads) anyyyyway one is large and I don't have a steam cleaner I can't rent one out!!! I'm broke. How can I wash it???? Any ideas??????? Thanks!

- The only thing I can suggest to you is renting a steam cleaner. Maybee you should just wait until you can afford it. Thats how I always clean mine.....with a Rug Dr. ( I actually just bought my own eventually because I was renting them so often with 4 kids and two dogs!) With large peices of upholstered furniture, like sofa's, that are REALLY dirt, spot cleaning with a wet rag isn't going to do much. But if you come up with the money to rent a steam cleaner, I would definetely try to spot clean it with a wet rag and mild detergent everytime something got on it to avoid having to steam clean it to often.

- neatsfoot oil - or any oil dressing cream for shoes. You may want to do the whole sofa to make it look like new.
