- OH JEFF GREAT NEWS....they no longer make those ugly floral prints on couches...lol i would encourage more earth tones like a nice tan...it works with anything if those curtains have been hanging for more than 10 years they need to go to the piano would look great on a nice area carpet...you could go an accent color and carry it though the room...like black or burgundy...throw carpet...and pillows on couch and accent pieces candels on coffee table... i would go to bed bath and beyond...in the beyond section they have new couch covers...for the floral couch...so it can become modern and be solid...i hope your parents plan to get rid of it... if the room hasn't been painted in 10 year you should offer to freshen it up....light tan walls...white ceiling and white baseboards...dark tan couch...area carpet..in front of couch with coffee table in center...would look great... an area carpet...makes the space look more homey...you do not need 2...either one under the edge of the couch with the coffee table in the center or one under the piano also do they play the paino...if not it need to be sold to create more space you need modern...candels...to accent to... happy decorating *(*

- Actually I have an Ikea sofa Karlstad in my living room and it's not the most comfortable couch, but I got it because I needed one real bad and at least I can change the color if I want. A couple of people have slept on it without complaints. I have a small place and it works for what I need. My boyfriend hates my couch though-lol. Anyway, it has a warranty on it which is nice and it's not the type of couch that has a slipcover If you want to change it you actually take it apart and it's got these very thick pieces of velcro which are virtually invisible unless you take the couch apart. It never looks raggedy, it's always tight so you would never know by looking at it that you can change it. That part I really like. Knowing that when I get tired of the color I can just go to Ikea and for about $50 I can get a new couch again. It's definitely a practical couch, but it's no Laz-boy or anything. I put a couple of pillows on it and it's pretty comfy for me. I think my boyfriend is just a guy, he likes those big ugly leather chairs that you can kick your feet up on.
