- Q: we received a free sofa with dual recliners the other day. it is in great condition and the price was right. the only problem is a smell of urine. any secrets out there to eliminate this smell?
- you can go to petsmart or any other pet store and get something. they have a great variety. most of that stuff should work great because it's got the right enzymes to break down the urine. the only problem you might have is if someone has already tried to get the smell out with the wrong products. then the smell might be locked in. but there is not only ONE product or brand name to buy, many will work if they got the enzymes. the last thing i bought wasurine gone or something. i really liked it because it had a great smell. whatever you use, make sure you soak the area that smell like urine really good and let it air dry. if you think it might just be topical you might use a spray bottle and soak it that way. but don't hesitate to use a lot! i deal with that a lot because of my 2 cats and 2 rats! good luck!

- You didn't say what kind of sofa. I had this happen on a leather lounge so in my case I got a damp cloth and rubbed until it got lighter and lighter and wasn't noticable anymore.It took ages and i was worried it would ruin the lounge but it was okay. Also, in regards to the first answer I can see her point that permanent means permanent but if you think about it further, you can also get permanent marker on your skin but it eventually washes off right? Otherwise when someone wanted a tattoo they would just use a permanent marker rather than a needle with ink. It is just called permanent because there are also white board markers which can be wiped off. Also, if the sofa is material then you could call a cleaning company and find out what the chances are of that coming off and how much they charge. Or a cheaper option could be a cleaning product available out there in the supermarket, like a carpet cleaner. Some actually can be used for sofas as well if you read the back. Or call a furniture store and ask them about it and see if they sell any special products.

- If you find a small scale sectional (look at Bassett's CU2 style), this can really maximize the space that you have without overwhelming it. I suggest choosing a color of fabric that will be close to your wall color so that it will lessen the heavy look. Bassett also has a Room Design feature that you can use that is very helpful. As for putting them together, the delivery men are very experienced at this. Otherwise it can be a BIT of a struggle when snugging into a small space, but not impossible. (No tools required) The biggest issue for a sectional is getting the corner piece through the door. Most will fit through a 36 door with no obstructions or tight turns. If you move a lot, you may want to consider a sofa 2 chairs though, as these pieces will fit almost any room anywhere you go, a sectional may limit you in the future.

- Use white vinegar to get the smell out, and after wards use fabric softener or something to make it smell nice. If your dog does it again, tell him off, then take him outside where he should be having a pee. This may take a few times to get him used to knowing not to pee on the sofa. Also, when my dog tried to jump on the sofa when i don't want her too, i use nail varnish remover to get her of if she carries on jumping on the sofa because she doesn't like the smell; it's too strong. Try that to stop him peeing on it, it's a bit of a long shot but it's worth a try. If all else fails, get a new sofa, but hopefully it won't come to that. Good luck!

- I have had my Simplicity Sofas sofa and chair for about a year now and I still love them. They look beautiful and feel comfortable. Nobody who looks at them knows they had to be assembled. Assembling only took me about 1/2 hour for both pieces (not counting the 1/2 hour it took to unwrap the pieces and take them out of the boxes.) Actually, the only thing better than the furniture was the customer service I received. It really was unbelievable. I have never dealt with a company so responsive and eager to please. I had a minor problem with the UPS delivery service and Simplicity Sofas sent me a check for my trouble (without being asked.) They have two people working in their customer service, Jeff and Ann. Both of them are outstanding. I believe Jeff is the President of the company. I just know that whenever I had a question, one of them would get right back to me and always gave a clear answer. This is a company you can't go wrong with.

- It's okay, not great, though. Very firm, so if you like that, good. I would not suggest it for someone who is overweight or has a bad back -- and certainly not for long-term. IKEA's Sultan mattresses are relatively inexpensive, and pretty good, if you're looking for a cheap bedding solution. I wouldn't look at the BEDDINGE as a long-term, every-night bed, though.

- Q: I cannot beleive my asking a question about sofa cushions but here I go. We have a perfectly fine sofa. However, we just tried to wash one of the sofa seat covers and the zipper broke. Now, we cannot fit the seat cover back on the foam cushion. It is an older sofa but it is decent shape. I do not want to reupholster the whole couch or replace the foam cushion. I just need to purchase one seat cover. I have no idea even where to begin. Does anyone know where I can purchase couch seat covers?
- If it's an older sofa, as you said, you'll never find a replacement. Other than a new sofa, re-upholstering or slipcovers are your only option. By the way, the zipper could be replaced.Just because cushions have zippers, they shouldn't be washed, as you found out.
