Q:^tacky? I kinda think so, but I dislike our brown carpet with a passion. Can't rip it out and burn it either so what's a girl to do? Area rug. What color would be good? My drapery is sheer green. Let the creativity flow.Gracias.
Area rug over carpet..YES! I've done it for years, in fact, I have 2 in my home right now. Both rugs have patterns of red on beige carpets. One room is a barn red, the other room has light green walls. Both rugs add character to each room I receive many compliments on them. One hint, remember to use a rug that is comparable in size to the room. If you shop around, you can often find good deals on area rugs. Have fun!
Q:Our house is currently covered in carpet. We have a dog who sheds and has occasional accidents in the carpet. I'm debating whether or not to switch to hardwood floors. I would like to to the floating because of cost. Does anyone have advice? Should I stick it out with carpet? Is wood that much easier?
Hardsurface flooring would be better to have than carpet especially if you have pets around the house...not only are they earier to clean, they are much more hygenic. Carpets will accumulate dust and promote molds that can cause respiratory problems for the those who live there, and those who come to visit. Since carpet absorbs liquid, the smell of pet's urine won't be that easy to remove from it. I've encountered people who have been trying to get rid of the smell of pet urine even after a month that the carpet has been taken out... it costed them a lot of time, money, and effort jsut to get the bad smell out. The more if uric acid has affected the subfloor (even concrete), you cannot just lay another flooring on top as the smell would still permeate throughout the house. If you are to do a floating hardwood floor, apply a water-proof adhesive (like Bruce Everseal) at the tongue and groove so that even dog pee wouldn't seep through the cracks. Damages will occur if it happens as the liquid will not evaporate, thus the boards can warp. I am unsure how big your pet is but choose floors that are with aluminum oxide finish, they help prevent scratches. There are certain wood floors that are with a high janka rating (or hardness rating) which would be harder to dent as well... mostly are exotics that can be almost 3x as hard as White Oak. It is advisable that you also trim your pet's nails regularly:) Always remember that if you'd plan to re-sell your house in the future, hardwood floors will always increase its value.
Q:ive got 2 rugs in my kitchen i need to wash but they have a rubber back and im worried if i put them in the washier the rubber will wear off. last time i washed my fathers rugs for him the rubber started to come off in small chunks (it was also the first time they had ever been washed) and i dont want the same to happen to mine. im not worried about drying them id just lay them outside on the porch rail and let them air dry. does anyone have any suggestions? if i hand wash them will they get just as clean as if they were washed in the washer?
You can wash the rugs in your washing machine. Regular detergent, fabric softener optional. (I never use it for rugs.) If you're worried about the rubber backing, use the Cold water option, and let them air dry. However...here's the caveat: If you wash the rugs and allow them to air dry, they won't look fluffy. They'll look a little matted. You can fluff them a little with a clean hair brush after they've dried or run them through the dryer on Fluff, but to make the rugs look really fluffy and pretty, you'll need to dry them in your dryer. If you dry the rugs in your dryer, the rubber backing will break down. It's a Catch-22. So your choices: 1. Wash them in Cold water and let them air dry. Then fluff them with a hair brush...or run them on the no heat option. This will preserve the rubber backing, but the rugs won't be as fluffy as they looked new. - or - 2. Wash them and dry them in the dryer. This will make the rugs beautifully fluffy, but the backing will come off in pieces. Good luck. -
Q:Somehow molten candle wax got dropped in my carpet and its really hard now. How can i remove it without destroying my carpet?
Place 3 or 4 layers of paper towel on the wax, and press it with a clothes iron on a lowish setting. The iron will melt the wax the towels will absorb it.
Q:Stair carpet, press bar, press plate
Carpet press boards are used for carpeting at the junction of other ground paving materials and are now made of stainless or copper materials
Q:I bought a 2 pelt sheepskin rug awhile back and one of my clumsy friends drop tomato sauce on it, what can I use to clean it?
Has Good instructions and they sell real sheepskins direct form the tanners so they know.
Q:How do you make the carpet glued to the tile?
Double sided adhesive glue on the top slab carpet thorn. It is recommended that you do not glue it. Once the carpet doesn't work, it will be troublesome to clean the glue. The better thing is to use double glue to prick the top, so that it can be reused.
Q:i have just rented a house and started to clean the rugs now smell a strong urine oder, can anyone tell me how to get rid of this fast.i tried boarax, backingsoda, vinager , peroxide, and nothing seems to help. i will give 30 points to someone if they help me remove this smell.
Try ODOBAN. It works great on my rugs... you can let it soak on the rug or if the rug is small enough you can throw it in the washer with some of the cleaner... =]
Q:How are the carpets laid?
Carpet laying: divided into two types of fixed and fixed, according to the area covered with shop and partial shop.
Q:I have a heavy recliner sofa and chairs. These are on heavy metal frames which leave a a square indent in the carpet as well as the 4 corner feet. Does anyone know of any carpet protectors made especially for these type of sofas. UK
Hi, I am a carpet fitter and have been for 7 years. One of the biggest parts of my job is moving furniture for the eldery customers so I can fit the carpet. You do see coaster type things under chairs and sofa's etc. This seems to make very little if any difference at all. The only advice I can give you is to avoid underlay and go for a thin pile carpet as that does help with preventing an indentation. If the sofa or chairs way a lot you will get a slight indentation anyway. Although avoiding underlay will not feel nearly as nice to walk on. You may be able to buy specialist one's but if you put enough pressure on a particular area/area's of a carpet you will get an indentation. Please message me for further help and I will be more than willing to do so. Joe Kingsland Floors
