- As a professional carpet cleaner this comes up a lot. Our policy is we will try a spot/stain or two (usually the worst) to give you an idea of what the carpet will turn out like. If you don't think it will turn out the way you like that's it we leave. No reputable carpet cleaner will guarantee a spot or stain will come out until they try, because they can't tell for sure until they try. A carpet cleaner can tell if some stains are likely to come out but cannot guarantee it. As an incentive to get your lanlord to pay for the carpet cleaning you can point out carpet cleaning is tax deductable for a landlord.(which is why mony landlords ask you for the reciept, for their files of course, if you get the carpets clean) but thats another story
- Q: Has anyone ever tried using oxyclean or any other cleaner that would work good or produce the same results as with the Rug Doctor cleaners?
- Problem being! Most rug cleaning machines can't handle sud's. If oxyclean sud's up it can destroy the machine. I don't know about mixing them...I have...used Downy in those machines to soften my rug and get rid of static.

- Ideally, you need a sub-floor for carpet tiles. If you have hardwoods, you can ruin them with carpet tiles. Otherwise, I have carpet tiles in my attic, which is my kids bedrooms. I went with that style intentionally because they love anime and we went with an Asian decor. Here is where I also admit that the builders put in a sub-floor for us and gave us the carpet tiles for free...lol I love them. One of my husbands friends is a very handy person and helps with all the DIY, so he helped to lay them. There are no seams and I think they are perfect. Carpet companies usually have some carpet that they will sell for cheap. We had them lay a plaid carpet in our basement because it was good quality, but wasn't selling because its plaid. I love it. Its off white with navy and black lines. Perfect for our exercise room, my sewing room.and under the pool table. Made us get blue felt for the pool table and I think it's beautiful. Check with them.

- you can find things about it on line im sure, penny rugs were cut from old felted wool scraps, now most people just use felt, they really are used more to decorate tables and such as modern felt isnt really strong, the reason they are called penny rugs is they were cut in various size circles and joined together, similar to a yoyo quilt though the penny rugs werent gathered, most of the shapes were outlined in blanket stitch and sometimes the pennies were stacked two or three deep using successivly smaller circles so you got a ringed color effect. I downloaded a small penny christmas tree design last winter and i think it might have been on the debbie mum site. just put penny rug patterns into a web search and you will surely find some. lots of the penny rug designs also were edged in tongue shaped pieces, these were often called pen wipers, they would make a penny rug for the top of a desk with the tongues all around it and the master of the house had a handy pen wiper in the tongues, when they got too messy they could be replaced. enjoy your hunt.
- Q: Today I put my green fuzzy rug in the dryer for about 15 minutes to clean it a bit and before i put it in the dryer it was not wet and it was all clumpy when i took it out. - Q: I just want to know if olefin rugs are good for a living room, i'm planning on buying a 6x8 rug for my living room I plan on just putting my coffee table on it and it wont be in a high traffic area are there any issues i need to worry about?
- olefin rugs are cheap. Plus, the degradation of fibers over time contribute to in home toxin levels higher than the air inside. They crush, they're cheap and they're just not the best. If you're going synthetic, go nylon. If you can, go wool - and not hand tufted
