- Q: We have a fairly large area rug in our living room but over time it has become wrinkled. I don't want to buy a new one yet, so how can we get it to lay flat against the carpet and not bunch up with stubborn wrinkles anymore?
- Do NOT wet the rug if you do not know what the fiber content is. Silk and wool for example may shrink. Use carpet tape to secure it flatly to the floor. It will take a couple of people, remove any furniture inhibiting its placement. Lay out the rug where you want it and have 4 people shuffle the rug out to the corners and stand there using their body weight as anchors. Tape the edges about 12 inches in at a diagonal. Have another person literally use double sided carpet tape found at the home improvement center tape 3-5 inches in from the edge of the rug by folding the edges in, applying the tape and having all four people shuffle that end to the tape line. Yes, you will have the corners anchored with tape diagonally and then again 3-5 inches from the sides above that. This helps edges to keep from curling or becoming trip hazards. Once the carpet is stretched and anchored with the tape, you will not encounter stubborn wrinkles UNLESS you move furniture by sliding it and not picking it up completely off the rug to move it.

- Q: because carpets are mostly made of silk, cotton, wool and other materials, it is not easy to preserve for a long time, so the existing carpet treasures have a history of only a few hundred years.
- According to the research of Iranian scientists, the carpet weaving technology in Iran has a history of at least 2000 years. Only because carpets are mostly made of silk, cotton, wool and other materials, it is not easy to preserve for a long time, so the existing carpet treasures have a history of only a few hundred years. The pattern of Persian carpet is woven after printing and dyeing with dyes extracted from natural plants and minerals. After many years, it is still colorful. For example, the famous Persian blue and Persian red do not fade after hundreds of years. Iranians regard carpets as a family heirloom. Local friends told reporters: "for Iranians, precious carpets are more precious than gold and diamonds." even rich people use carpets as value preservation products like famous paintings and antiques. Carpet has gradually evolved into an art form because it has been integrated into the ancient Persian civilization. Now many paintings, furniture and fashion decoration have been integrated into the imprint of carpet. Persian carpets are collected as treasures in many palaces, famous buildings, luxury houses and art galleries and museums around the world. In recent years, inflation in Iran has been quite serious, and carpet prices have soared all the way. The price of a medium-quality small carpet has reached seven or eight hundred dollars. As for better silk carpets, they are often thousands or even tens of thousands of dollars, which makes many tourists stop.

- Q: Is there a formula that you can tell how many feet are on a roll of Carpet without having to unroll and measure it?
- 1. assume d carpet is so tightly rolled dat it can b treated as a right circular cylinder 2. let the radius of this rolled carpet be R width W, then volume V = pi*R^2*W 3. measure thickness of carpet accurately, say = t then V = W*t*L 4 equating the two, W*t*L = pi*R^2*W or L = pi*R^2 / t u don't hv 2 measure d width, only R t [ actually, better 2 measure D use R = D/2 ] happy new year !!!
- Q: Because I live in aus and the temperatures range from *lowest 6-10C winter* and highest around 36C in summer, with no dramatic weather usually, would a horse the is kept out in a paddock all its life **pleasure horse** need such rugs like winter and summer etc? (if it was clipped or didn't have a nice big fluffy coat))thanks.
- I'm English , but understand the weather in AUS . A horse that is clipped out , will certainly need a rug during the winter . Even thoroughbreds with a full winter coat are actually better without a rug , your temperatures are not so cold . Rain is an important factor , that can seriously harm their skin . From your temperatures , I guess you to be in Victoria , where they have heavy rain , sleet and snow . I imagine you to be riding daily , or as often as you can . Keeping them clean is another factor , you don't want to waste your time scraping the mud off them . I recommend a Rambo New Zealand rug , if you can get one ; they never shift no matter how much rolling . My big Thoroughbred had one with a net lining , it better not to coddle them too much .
- Q: I am looking at buying a house but want to know how much it would cost to get all new carpet. It is a small two bedroom house around 1000 square feet i would guess. I don't have a lot of money. I know you can get cheap and expensive carpet i want not the expensive and not the cheapest so how much do you think it would cost to have someone do it and buy the carept.
- Yes.. I know what you mean.. A cheap but still adequate carpet would run around $700 or $750. BUT.. you did not say what is on the floor now.. If it is a carpet but a ratty one.. that would have to come out along with those little wood tack pieces around the sides of the carpet.. tacked to the floor.. To save some money, and if you were getting a quote.. tell the guy that YOU are going to remove the carpet yourself as well as the tack boards and that you would then vacuuming/clean the floor(by sweeping and/or vacuuming of course) to get it ready for the new carpet... I am assuming that you can do that.. It is not difficult.. the only difficult part of doing that is rolling up the existing old carpet and taking it to the garbage can.. What I have done in the past is to get the carpet outside or in the garage and cut it up and put the pieces into the garbage can.. I do all that myself always to save money.
- Q: Any time it rains my carpet feels damp..(no leaks) I have a brick home...Any suggestions?
- I bet your house was built on a slab. It sounds like they didn't put a vapor barrier under the concrete and your slab is wicking a tiny bit of moisture up from the soil. Or, if your house is brand new, it may be that your slab is still curing.
- Q: Is the bedroom carpet harmful to the health?
- Moisture will make the carpet become a breeding ground for mites and other pathogenic microorganisms
- Q: I have a Palomino/Arab 2 Thoroughbred X Race Horses, We are in the process of having Stables built on the field which should be ready within 2 weeks. I feed the 3 of them twice a day, once in the mornings and remove the rugs, one in the afternoon/evening and replace the rugs. They have waterproof lightly insulated Castle rugs that seem to be keeping them warm but I can't help but worry about them. When they are in the Stables should I just use quilted Stable Rugs when it gets really Cold? What rugs/food do you suggest for different seasons for these type of horses. The Palomino is 1yr4months and around 14.3 with a good weight, the thoroughbreds are 6yrs old 15.2, 7 yrs old 16.1 with poor weight due to coming from the races I want to do my best to fatten them up and provide them with a calm lifestyle. Thanks Alot.
- I never reccomend rugging at all. Why? Because at the base of each hair, there is a muscle that can move each hair. This makes them able to insulate themselves, or cool themselves off. When the horse is wearing a rug, the muscles can't work, because the rug is keeping the hair down. Like any muscle, it atrophies and soon, the horse can't move the muscles at the base of the hair, and it has no way of controlling body temperature without a rug or fan in the summer. In your case, the 2 racehorses should probably be lightly rugged at night and when its really cold (like in the negatives, if it gets that cold where you live). And I also don't reccomend clipping your horses (idk if you do or not). Your palomino should be fine without a rug though. If you feel you must, just do it for short periods. As for food, make sure you provide as much hay as the horses will eat, 24/7. For the tb's, adding 1/4 cup of corn oil to the grain every day could do some good. And make sure you are giving them grain.
