- Q: Office Chairs: I am looking good chair that is comfortable to sit in, will not hurt my back, easy to roll across my desk area. I have sat in the Herman Miller chair and really like them..don't think my boss will go for the $800+ price tag on it though. My desk is kind of low so my arm rest right now kind of get in the way. I do have to hump over a bit to type. Does anyone have any advice to share? Sincerely, C
- See if the chair is available slightly used, as many offices change furniture often or go out of business. See if the chair could be leased. See if all the chairs are the same in your ofice maybe they will let you trade with a coworker Check other chairs at a place like office depot to see if they will fit just as well at a better price. $800 is not necessarily that outlandish for a chair compared to other new desk chairs, I rarely see them for less then $200. If you have some physical limitation that makes you current chair not work for you (you are too tall or are too short) your boss should be willing to find a chair that fits you, at a reasonable price. If you really love your job and you really love your boss and are otherwise happy where you work. Offer to buy the chair yourself, because a great job is more precious than a great chair.
- Q: folding chairs and tables. Any ideas?
- You'll probably get the best answer if you call table/chair rental companies.
- Q: Hi...We have 4 1950's vynil chrome kitchen chairs. I'm wondering how much (just a ball park figure) it would run us to have them redone with new vynil. Anyone know of any websites where I can find out? Thanks. :)
- If my memory is correct chairs like that have a seat that screws onto the frame of the chair, would actually be pretty easy to do yourself. You can buy foam padding and vinyl at a fabric store. Turn the chair upside down and unscrew the screws holding the seat on, there should be staples holding the vinyl on, pull them out. Now you should have a wood? base, pad and a sheet of vinyl.Use the old sheet of vinyl as a guide to measure the new. Use the old pad as a guide to measure the new pad too. Put it all together as before with the new materials, re-staple and screw back on. As far as price I am not really sure I am guessing vinyl is going to set you back about 12 dollars a yard. Foam padding is pretty inexpensive, around 4-5 dollars per chair. If you do it yourself there is no labor charge and you do not have to take the chairs anywhere. Good Luck and have fun.
- Q: Is it possible for my cats to ruin my new (from Craigslist, therefore new to ME) Aeron chair? Please do not answer if you do not own an authentic Herman Miller Aeron Chair.
- So put it in the same room as your chair and hopefully it should work. Also, reward them with praise and treats when they scratch the scratch posts. This will let them know they are allowed to scratch and will begin to do it more. At first my cats would get scared when I caught them scratching the designated scratching posts. This is because everytime prior that I had caught them scratching (namely my sectional) they got in trouble.
- Q: I found a very cool shaped very old chair at a junk shop for $5. It is in fairly good shape and sturdy (none of the arms or legs wiggle). But it is missing the seat, which I would imagine was one time a woven cane seat that has fell out. I would prefer not to re-cane a new seat (I have done this before, but I don't find it comfortable to sit on this type of seat and they don't wear well). I would much rather put in a padded upholstered seat, but am not sure how? There is just a large hole in the middle where the seat used to be, and I'm having trouble thinking of ways to attach a piece of wood with padding and upholstery. It doesn't have to be super sturdy, as it won't have more than a 170lb person in it, and will more than likely not be used daily (it will be for our bedroom). Any ideas?Chair similar to this one (no seat)- http://krypton.mnsu.edu/~wayne/Caning/roundchair.JPG
- Well, I think the thing to do here is cut a piece of 1/4 plywood and inch or so bigger in each dimension than the hole. then put your piece of foam on it with some spray adhesive, and wrap like quilt batting and upholstery fabric over it and staple underneath. then to attach, without damaging your antique frame, I would say attach some turn button type things. If you glued some blocks onto the plywood just a little thinner than the chair frame, and then some longer blocks screwed to those which trap the chair frame under them.
- Q: I have a favorite chair............?
- The majority of my time spent sitting is right here on my computer chair. lol If I'm not on YA then I'm researching something or wandering around YouTube or whatnot. But if I'm reading then I have a favorite chair for that. It's not a recliner but it's super soft and padded like one. It's the sort of chair you kind of fall into and it's not always so easy getting up out of it. Especially if your drunk. =P It's sort of taupe colored and verrrry comfy and sometimes I just sleep there. I fell asleep there last night after finishing the mystery And Then There Were None (for probably the 7th time) by Agatha Christie. Omega
- Q: The lady who owns the venue we chose is something else, let me tell you...I wish now I'd have gone somewhere else, but we just couldn't afford more! So she won't have the chairs arranged in rows for the ceremony (we're having it indoors because it's FALL) and so we're forced to have guests sit at their tables. How can I make this look better??
- I recently conducted a wedding where the set-up was similar - and because the tables were very long it was impossible to move them away. So we turned the first row of chairs round so the people sat with their backs to the first table and added to the row the chairs on the other side of the table, and then moved the chairs at the other tables so the people at each table were essentially sitting on the one side of that table with their backs to the table and facing the ceremony area (for a ceremony people can sit much closer together than they would for dining) and then after the ceremony people just took their chairs back to their own place. Worked well.
- Q: I have a Nucas 2032-3 chair. That's all I know basically, Does anyone know how to adjust it? Or a link to a instruction booklet website? Mine did not come with the booklet in the side. Please help. I am going MAD!! :l
- Google Nucas chair 2032-3 and you will find a pdf with the instructions.
- Q: I have a large office chair that's oversized and comfortable. Probably very expensive to replace outright. It's of the type that uses a gas cylinder/shock absorber design. That's failed, and I'm wondering if it can be replaced economically. If so, would it be a do-it-yourself project?. Thanks.
- They don't usually make repair parts for those because it's so rare that anybody wants to repair one. You would have to buy a new chair to get the base, but if you do that you might as well just use the new chair.
- Q: i have one of those music chairs with the 2 speakers, and subwoofer, but is there a way to take that awful subwoofer out and put in a new one? theres not a place to unzip the chair or anything, but the subwoofer distorts on about every song that i play. and what can i replace it with to make it have a lil bass without distortion?
- Interesting question...let's see if I can be of any help. The way I see it, you have roughly two choices here (3 actually, but I'll save it for last.) 1) You can take the chair apart to get to the speaker, take it out and either replace it with a similar one (like a car subwoofer speaker - check the Ohm rating) or get the broken one fixed. 2) You could bypass the subwoofer altogether - but you'd have to find the wires to it and carefully disconnect them without shorting them. Then go and buy another inexpensive subwoofer, hook it up directly to your receiver (assuming that you had a receiver driving the chair system) - making sure to place the sub right next to (or under) the chair - to get a similar butt massage effect from the bass. or 3) toss the whole mess out. graduate and get a real speaker/subwoofer set up instead. Hope this kind of helps. I was serious with the first two ideas, the thrid was admittedly a wee bit glib. Please forgive me.
