- Weight of chair = mg = 10.5 x 9.81 = 103.0N Vertical component of 40.0N force = 40.0sin(39.0) = 25.17N upwards Resultant vertical force on chair = 0 (as there is no acceleration in vertical direction), therefore: total downwards force = total upwards force The total downwards force is just the weight. The total upwards force is 25.17N + the normal force. 103.0 = 25.17 + N where N is normal force N = 103.0 - 25.17 = 77.8N (to 3 sig. figs., same as data supplied)

- I don't like those vibrating massage chairs. They just make my skin itch after sitting in them. I have an iJoy massaging chair and it's like the massage tables chiropractors have. There are these rollers in it that travel up and down the back of the chair. And, with different settings, you can get different massaging action with them. I think these are about $750 or so at Costco. But, if you're looking for a massage chair, they are definitely the way to go.

- Go tell your boss that your chair got broken and that you need a new one, and when he asks how it got broken just tell him that when he set in it, that it cracked and broke. You can`t make him pay for something that was out of his control. and I do believe that it wasn't`t his department that let him break the chair. It just happened. You can`t discriminate against people of size as you put it just because they weigh more than you. Hello you do that he could have you butt in court and any lawyer would be happy to take you on, they would also use this post against you. So just go tell your boss you need a new chair and suggest that he provide the company with chairs that can handle more than you.

- but these types of chairs are amazing... instead of sitting you kneel, but it doesn't hurt your knees, because you are also resting your body weight on the seat. I found that sitting 9 hours a day, this helps my back and also allows me to move around my desk area more... Many different companies sell these types of chairs at various prices and qualities.. I recommend trying one out! :)
