- you NEED the foam peanuts that are used in the bean bag chairs for it to WORK like a bean bag chair...feathers will NOT work, they don't 'spring back' nor do they remain 'fluffy'...you can get the beans at most hobby or fabric stores (or online if you google for them) and yes it's best to use a pattern...if you don't know what you're doing (and by the question I see you don't), READ and LEARN to use a pattern and the CORRECT materials for the job.
- Q: I have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and one of my fears is sitting in rocking chairs. I'm always afraid that when it goes back it won't stop and I'll fall on my head. I don't think there is a phobia specifically related to rocking chairs, so there has to be some other way to trigger this fear. - Q: I have some chairs that have cushions down half the back and on the seat. I want to recushion the top and make it wider and the cushion go all the way down to the seat. (Turn them into Parsons chairs) What would be the easiest way to do this?
- I would use foam, wledbond, plywood, string, buttons and fabric. First measure the base of your chair at the seat and figure out the hieght you would like the parsons chairs to be. If you chair is 18 wide at the base, and you want them to be 24 high, then you would need your plywood to be 14 x 21 high {approx.}. You can get this cut for a fee {usually} at any lumber or home improvement store. Take the lumber and attach it to the chair with weldbond and clamps {and l have no idea of your chairs but weldbond works on metal and wood} or anything that will hold it tight while it hardens. Let this be glued firmly and completely dry...for extra security you can tie with rope {it will be covered with the foam} . Get some 2 {or more} thick foam and cut it so you have one long strip that is 50 long by 28 wide. Now on the inside seat part of the back of the chair, take a staple gun {or if you have little hands like me, use a nail and hammer} and attach string every four inches or so in a grid layout} Now take the foam and make holes with a knife or sizzors to line up with string. Take your weld-bond and spread it evenly over the plywood {be generous} front and back. Take the foam and lay it beginning on the inside bottom edge, pulling through the string as you apply it to the glued surface, bring it over the top, and then down the back of the chair, you will have excess on the sides and final bottom edge, but this can be trimmed later. leave to dry on the floor lightly tie and hold in place with string. Take fabric and cut to the same size, drape it in the same manner, making holes and pulling through string Attach with upholstorers nails. Tke the string and attach big beautiful funky buttons. They will look fabulous!!!

- Q: How do you upholster a wing back chair? how difficult is it? how many yards of fabric? what kind of (cheaper) fabric should i use?
- I'm new to the upholster game but the best fabric is they heavy ones with that plastic like backing. it's water/spill proof and very easy to cut. now i would lay the fabric on the chair. cut it to size, leaving room for sewing ..i'd say an inch. pin it in place inside out and they sew. now most fabric stores have a chart that has picture diagram on how much you need for whatever kinda chair. I would add 5 yards to that being you're a beginner. Never have too much but OMG if you don't have enough. Good luck!
- Q: I have 6 dining room chairs with fabric seats. The fabric is light and I want to make a cover for them. I do not want to cover the entire chair, only the seat portion. I have a little sewing experience so I'm not worried about the construction of the cover, just the measuring of the fabric. Any ideas or references on how to do this?
- Measure the length and width of the seat. and go to any fabric store. Give the measurements to the clerk and pick your fabric. She will figure how much you need to buy
- Q: i had a really weird dream, last night that i was in a room full of people and i kill a man in the electric chair.
- When you turn on electricity in a dream it means a favor you have done in the past can now be called in. Killing the man in the electric chair shows there is sudden opposition to one of your plans and you mean to fight for your belief in the plan. A room full of people show you are not sure who is responsible for your problem or who you can trust.
- Q: I know it's polite for a man to help a lady into her chair (pull the chair out for her and help her push the chair in as she sits down) but is it also good manners for the man to help her OUTof the chair too?In a restaraunt, I saw a man get up from his seat, then walk over to his lady's seat and helped her pull the chair out. She remained seated until he began moving the chair. I watched very closely and she didn't appear to have any heath problems or injuries - she moved very freely and it was just like the sitting down routine, except in reverse. I never saw that before, and I thought it was rather weird. Reminded me of a queen waiting for her servant or something...!
- Great manners, like helping a lady both take her coat off or put it on. This is the extreme in polite -- I hope she was suitable gracious and appreciative. My husband would stand next to his mothers chair at restaurants and offer his arm. She could grab his arm and get to her feet without risking tipping the table over. I occasionally still see the man rise (at least partially) when a woman joins the table. (I'm still under 40!)
