- Q: I am looking into buying this chair because I think it is beautiful! I plan on reupholstering it in some colorful fabric. She says there are no markings except for a sticker that claims it was reupolstered in 1987 or 1977 hard to read. There are 2 wheels on the front 2 legs. Other than that I do not know much about it. Any opinions or knowledge would be much appreciated, Thanks! The pictures are attached bellow.
- this is a nice looking chair and the wood stained finish is good == do not change the finish of the wood .... a trip to the fabric store or maybe two trips will help you search for a needlepoint tapestry scene fabric to recover the back and seat and the rear of the seat back == you really do not want to do any colorful fabric as this will not be the style of such a nice chair ....the value of the chair may well be over $500.00 but you should follow your heart as far as price Be careful that it is [[ in fact ]] over 100 years old .. look at the chair and determine if you can see signs of it being a totally symetrical carved by hand wooden chair -- the wood carving of the top seat back does indicate to me that it was done by hand = most 100 to 150 year old furniture has a rubbed glossy finish and the photo does not show that === I have looked at well over 1000 chairs and did not find anything even close to your pick == just try the local library for books of antique chairs and furniture === if you like the chair and it suits your needs and you can afford the chair .... buy and enjoy .....

- Q: I have a chair with a broken back, it can be detached from the rest of the chair and has a metal piece that goes into the padded/cloth part of the back.
- Chairs can be a bear to fix. Depending on what piece broke, it usually indicates metal fatigue from low quality steel used at high stress points (an engineering short-sight). On those kinds of chairs I just take off the broken pieces (arms, if any) and use the bottom as a roll around stool, cause fixing them only redistributes the stress load to another weak spot. They can be handy in the shop for working on the car (waxing the lower half and polishing the mags, etc.)

- Take careful notes of how the old fabric and stuffing etc. comes off and then put the new fabric back the same way.
- Q: I'm trying to earn some brownie points with my wife after making her angry, so I decided to fix her antique rocking chair that belonged to her grandmother. Initially, just the arm was broken (really loose and would get knocked off really easily.) I sat down on the chair to get a closer look and the entire thing collapsed. - You mean you brought a gaming chair WITHOUT the Power cord? There should be a label on the chair (probably under the seat) that tells you what make it is - if its a older model, they may not make power cords for it any more - especially if its a discontinued model and there is two, three or more models that have come after it. A quick look around Ebay shows that there is nothing there - so you're best bet would probably be to go to an indepent game store (NOT A CHAIN). Independent Game stores are a great source of information (as well as deals) and whilst they may not be able to source you one directly, they may have a regular customer, who has a friend who has a spare one. Certainly my experiences in my local independent game store - is that information is traded freely between owner and regular customers - if the shop itself can't help you directly - they ask their regular customers if they have/can source a certain item and if they'd be willing to sell it to them for resell.

- Q: we have to make a news paper chair only useing 2 thursdays papers and 6ft of duck tape
- I would recommend starting by separating sheets of paper and rolling them individually, really tightly. This actually creates a super strong element, and secure it by using a little piece of tape. Once you have several tightly rolled sheets (maybe about 1/2 diameter) then you can start assembling them. Be creative here, you may have to do trial and error to see what works the best. Maybe grouping thirty rolls and taping together can create the base/stool part (you may want to add more depending on how big the chair will be or how much paper you have left). - I think really good office chairs are pretty expensive. Have you thought about getting a cushion or a back support piece from a chiropractor? That way you can use it for other chairs too and it's mobile so when you're back in the office, you can use it there too. If you're experiencing back problems and discomfort from it, try some natural methods to ease the pain before resorting to medical procedures or medicine first. Refer to source for more details.
