- Q: i want to knit or crochet a rectangular rug for my room not too big but not too small. ive looked on the internet but the ones i like are too hard and the rest are nothing but granny squares or look like over sized doilies =( please help me find classy yet kinda simple patterns.. pictures would help
- One of the problems with substituting other yarn for rug yarn is that rug yarn is generally more resilient because you need to be able to walk on it, however, I have done some latch-hook work and have found that chunky 16 ply yarns are similar in thickness to 6 ply rug yarn and are therefore a reasonable substitute. 3 or 4 strands of knitting yarn may also give you a similar thickness and may work for you purposes but won't have the same resilience as proper rug yarn.
- Q: I'm finally getting my own room, the bad part is I cant get a new colored carpet. I'm painting the walls light purple and I need to know a good rug color so I can make the green carpet and light purple walls match. I was thinking lime green, a friend gave me the idea. Which color do you think will go good with it?
- Light purple and green do not really make a bad combination. My neighbor's got flowers of light purple that beautifully stand out against the green leaves. In interior design, it is also known that among the best complementing colors to use with purple are green and yellow. So, this makes my answer yellow. If you'll use the added yellow, sparingly, you can opt for brighter tones making up for accent in your decor. But if you will be using much of this color, lighter would be safer and less overwhelming. Good luck. :)
- Q: ok so i'm entering a competition to win a horse rug and am not sure how the sizing works. as a rough guide only, i need to know what size rug goes on what size horse (e.g. 15hh horse needs size _' _quot;). thanks :)
- I have a 15.2 hh Fat horse, as round as a pumpkin! He is generally a 60 rug but can fit into a 59! He is also a cob! If you are going to have a couple of rugs, id have the bottom one or 2 as a 59 and the top ones as 60. Also i rekon he would be a cob. But i dont think there is much difference in a 5'9and a 6'0, so if you thought he may fill out or get rounder once you get him than you may be better just going with 6'0!
- Q: I just spilled coke on the cream colored carpet and just scrubbed it down with a wet wash cloth thoroughly. The problem is that I don't know if it will stain when it dries. How can I get the stain out if it occurs without ruining the carpet. I live in an apartment and don't want any damage.
- Pour club soda on the spill as soon as possible and cover the spot with clean, light-coloured towels or rags and stand on them. Continue to pour and absorb until all the colour from the stain has been blotted up and the towel is coming up clean. Follow up with a good carpet stain remover. When you spot-clean carpet, never rub, as it will only spread the stain and will cause abrasion to the carpet fibers. If the stain is old still try the club soda---it will lighten the stain. After using your carpet spotter, if the stain is still present, saturate with hydrogen peroxide or undiluted lemon juice. Wait 15 minutes to blot. Continue to apply making sure you aren't lightening the carpet. For red wine stains use white wine and salt and follow with club soda and carpet spotter.
- Q: I keep pads under my Oriental rugs. I bought rubber backed pads for all of them but I noticed that it's disintegrating - turning into a fine powder. Has anyone had any experience with better pads and can recommend something better?Thank you.
- Pads are must for rugs whether its an oriental rug or some other rug. It increase the life of rug.

- Q: we want to replace the carpeting in our sunken great room, which has a crawlspace under it. What can we do to keep the carpeting from getting musty? Can you put vapor barrier under the carpet? The floor in the great room is wood planks but is there a way to stop moisture from rising and making the carpet smelly? - Q: bought a hookah to celebrate turning 19, and my cat knocked over the hookah while we were smoking. Lets just say there is a nickle sized burn in the carpet. Is there ANYTHING I can do? - Q: My puppy is basically almost fully potty trained and he messed up the carpets pretty bad of course...it was expected haha anybody know a good carpet cleaning product to clean well and also make the floors smell good? i have a steam cleaner (its a BISSELL) ive used it once to clean the entire area it does ok, but i was hoping maybe there is a better product out there.
- As Chris said, Natures Miricle is awesome at getting out pet stains and odors. I also have a Bissell cleaner find that using a cleaner with oxi-clean in it is the best. I usually use regular bissell cleaner add a scoopful of powdered oxi-clean to every tank of water. Works great doesn't change the rug color. Spot Shot is another great product to pretreat before using your machine.
- Q: spill candle wax on my carpet and wont come off...
- Varsol will remove wax but it may leave a stain on your carpet. Try it on a piece of the carpet you dont see (under a couch). I have done this before, on a multi colored carpet. You need to wash with soapy water after because of the smell.
