- Q: We just bought a nice silk rug from a wholesaler, and its 8x11. Since we bought it, it has been shedding like crazy. Is it normal? And how can you tell if it is handmade or machine-made? We bought it for $350.
- Are you sure its silk? A real silk rug machine made in 8 x 11 will be over $1000. Handmade more like $3000 to $30,000. Its more sounds like a mercerized cotton rug. They look about the same. The cotton rug shedds more. Is there a label on the back of the rug with any infomation. Manufacture ? Country of manufacture? Any information will help to track it down. Post it and I will help. Two easy tests: rubb the rug with the palm of you hand, if it feels warm it may be silk. cool its cotton or rayon. One of the best tests is the burn test. Pull a piece of the yarn from the face. Just one will never be missed. Burn it, smells like burning hair, silk. smells like plastic, rayon. Smells like cloth, cotton. Also real silk is very, very strong. Cotton and rayon are must weaker.
- Q: I have two dogs and I am so tired of all the fur on the rugs.
- I desire you may make clean the question. Do you merchandise basically to fur, or additionally to leather-based? What approximately eating meat? To me, there is not any ethical or ethical distinction between any of those issues. I devour meat and that i positioned on leather-based, so I have not have been given any reason to criticize all and sundry who wears fur. If somebody avoids all animal byproducts, I understand their perspective, whether i do no longer trust it. If somebody products to specific animal products yet no longer others, then they have not fairly theory the concern by way of alright.
- Q: I asked about what to cut carpet with, but now I'm questioning whether I should cut the carpet out at all. A floor lamp I had fell over and burned a hole the size of a half dollar in my apt. carpet. I want to repair it so I don't have to pay for carpet replacement. Since it's an actual hole and not just burned at the tips, do you suggest patching the carpet?
- start talking and repair the rug.
- Q: I purchased this house last year Sept. 17 2010. From day 1 I had severe problems. The ceilings in the back fell from a Norway rat eating the pipes. I did a mold test and Black Mold was a positive. The walls have been removed and replaced. The rat problem stopped after a Professional Trapper was hired. The house has been completed changed. All big mirrors are gone. That is were mold was too. Now I have Conjunctivitis in both eyes and I keep itching. Is this possibly the carpet in the back rooms? I have been cleaning them out so they can be tiled next week. Is tile a good idea? The AC unit could also be an issue. I would appreciate any advice. Owning a home is great. Most of the house has been completely remodeled. Carpet. AC unit. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
- Carpet cleaning, for beautification and the removal of stains, dirt, grit, sand, and allergens can be achieved by several methods both traditional and modern. Clean carpets are recognized by manufacturers as being more visually pleasing, potentially longer-lasting, and probably healthier than poorly maintained carpets.
- Q: Basically, my dad washed the rug with laundry detergent. But he put it in an area to dry, where there is no sunlight. So it didn't dry all the way and ended up creating this mildew smell on it. I decided to wash it again, but this time with a solution called Fiber Cleansing, that is used to fight stains on carpets. And I vacuumed the rug with a wet/dry vacuum to get all the water out of it. I got most of it out, but still had a smell to it. So I decided to pour a box of baking soda all over it, to get the smell out of it. (What the internet told me to do) After leaving the baking soda on there for 2 days, still nothing. The rug itself is pretty dry now, still a bit damp on the underside of it. It still smells. What can I do?
- Forget the bleach and any other solutions given. Re launder the rug but this time add 1/3 cup bicarb soda and 1/3 cup white vinegar to the wash and 1/3 cup white vinegar to the rinse. Both of these will absorb the odour and the white vinegar will kill any mould/mildew. Make sure the rug is dried where there is an airflow, even if there is no sunlight, but sunlight is good. The trick is to make sure the rug dries as quickly as possible and a good airflow helps this happen Re what you did with the baking powder..... the rug needed to be dry first. As it was still damp the mildew was still growing. Sprinkling bicarb soda on a dry rug that has an odour will absorb the odour. I promise, if you follow the instructions, the above will work. that
- Q: I have a thin, lightweight, 3x5 rug in my room. The floor is hardwood floor (but unwaxed). It is kind of like an quot;area-fillerquot;, so my room doesn't look so empty, therefore I don't want to put anything on top of it to anchor it down. Simply walking over it causes it to slip slide and move around. What can I do to hold it in place? Do they sell anything for things like this?Thank you!
- Yes they do, but I don't know what there called, there at bed bath and Beyond, wall mart, maybe home depot too, there like a rubber material that goes under the rug and prevents it from moving. All different sizes.
- Q: Doesn't carpet bombing subdue countries quicker and with less casualties than other methods?
- Yes and no. Ironically, the fewest casualties occur in conflicts where one side dramatically overwhelms the other. Carpet bombing often accomplishes that goal, when followed by some sort of occupation by ground forces. But on a target by target basis, you aren't discriminating between military and civilian targets. So although your overall casulaties may be lower (if you have an overwhelming force), your civilian/military casualty ratio is higher. You want minimum civilian casualties, look at Israel, and second the US in Iraq. Both have taken great pains, including warning the enemy of future attacks, in order to minimize civilian casualties. Over a long conflict, this lengthens the winning time and therefore increases total casualties. But in the short run, it is good for public relations. And don't think for a minute that Hezbollah doesn't want casualties. Israel's objective is to disarm Hezbollah. Hezbollah's objective is to slay every Israeli, Jew or Moslem, like a goat.
- Q: I've never heard of carpet tile. How do you install them and what are the advantages/disadvantages compared to a roll of carpet? Are the tiles cheaper? Easier?
- The carpet tiles are easier to install. They have the advantage that if you make a spot on one, you can lift it up and replace it. Great if you have kids or pets. They just snap together from what I've seen. Haven't priced them, though, so I can't tell about that.
- Q: What's the difference of same material tufted carpet and AXMINSTER carpet?
- There are also many options on material. Ake Muenster carpet (the correct name), random pattern, various color. Tufted carpets have fewer colors. But it's cheap and durable, simple pattern. Quality is also good. Luxurious
- Q: Living room, bedroom all installed floor heating.Like this it can not use carpet, is it true?
- It certainly affects the heating effect of floor heating, this is related with the thickness of the carpet and the size of the carpet. The thicker the thickness, the worse the heat dissipation As for the impact, the greater the impact, the larger the area of the carpet
