- Q: The carpet stains to clean
- Coffee stains, tea stains using ammonia scrubbing. Silk and wool carpet, washed with oxalic acid detergent, 10-20 minutes after the wash, or 10% glycerin solution cleaning.
- Q: I need to use the carpet cleaner machine, but do not want to purchase the solution. Does anyone know of a home solution that I can use with the many, many cleaning supplies I have in my home?
- When I ran out of the Rug Doctor solution, I used a laundry detergent instead. The reasoning was that other detergents (like for general cleaning or dishes) have high sufectant levels (soapy/bubbly) and you don't want bubbles in your Rug Doctor machine. I diluted it a lot, though, and relied more on hot water (boiled a pot, like for tea) than soap for the cleaning to work. However, I've found that Stanley Steemer was a better deal. They do all the work, plus their machines are so much more advanced than the Rug Doctors'. For the past year or two, I spot clean with retail treatments, then save my money so I can afford a good, professional scrub every 6 months or so.
- Q: how do you get dark spots out of my rug
- I use the 409 carpet foam stuff and it works wonders! My puppy has a habit of running around in dirt and it gets all over my carpet ... I usually spray the spot let it sit for about 15 min and then rub it out and spray again and rub it out of course. It has worked on everything so far. Even dog throw up/poop/pee and my husbands grease covered shoes when he is done working in the garage! =)
- Q: My friend knocked over her beer on my rug and didn't tell me until the morning after... it smells pretty bad. Any suggestions how to get rid of it quickly and permanently? I don't have many tools to use but i can run to a drug store if i need to.
- since it's already dry use soapy water or carpet shampoo machine. maybe sprinkle diluted vinegar spray; after it's dry put down baking soda
- Q: I have a brand new rug that is less than a week old. Every time I lift it up and sweep I have piles of white fine powder. That,s at least 3 times a day. Does anyone know what this is. I 'm thinking of taking it back.
- I work in a carpet workroom and if the rug is new it probably is the backing which is drying out. The backings in synthetic rugs are attached with a water base latexed glue for the most part. If you like your rug what I can recommend is that you have a secondary backing put on instead of using a pad. If the rug is going on a hard surface I would have a nonskid backing put on it but make sure the latex it on and not use aerosol. That will give your rug a lot of stability, keep the corners from curling, protect your floor, and also keep the carpet from continuing to powder. The backing should run you about $60 dollars. I dont know what the return policy is on the rug but just to make sure it can be done I would take it to a local carpet workroom have them look at it and make sure they can do it, not all workrooms are experienced as others. That way if they dont think tey can do it you might return it for another rug before your time expires to return your rug.
- Q: I am looking for a recipe that I can put in a spray bottle. A lot of the homemade concoctions I'm finding are ones that require dumping and rubbing into the stain, which I don't want to do as I have hardwood underneath and I've already overwashed my carpets from when my dogs were puppies. A lot of the store bought cleaners have discolored my carpets. I would like a solution I can spray on and blot up. Thanks
- Dawn dish soap does wonders on oily stains. Scrub it in and rinse well. Then wash as usual. I've also had really good luck with just covering a stain with liquid Tide, letting it sit, then washing. As far as the carpet, I just just plain hot water on mine. I have a light weight Bissell carpet cleaner. It doesn't do a professional job, but it works pretty well. I wouldn't use anything flammable on either your clothes, nor your carpet. On your clothes, even rinsed out, it is not advisable to dry it in a dryer, as the oil from the flammable chemicals do not rinse out easily. On the carpet, you never know when heat, or a spark could come in contact with the floor, and having your living room burst into flames would not be fun.
- Q: Is rubber mat needed for the carpet's stitching?
- You can fix it with a carpet glue, which can save the cost. The effect of rubber mat is mainly focusing on foot feeling and moisture proofing.
- Q: I am moving into a new house and the landlord left his red curtains behind and I do not plan on replacing them. What color throw rug can I purchase to match them? My couch is a tan color and I usually like neutral tones, which is probably why the red curtains are throwing me off. Any suggestions? (Would like a rug that would work with several color schemes)
- I okorder for area rugs. Lots of choices and shipping is only $2.95. I would pick a carpet you like and not necessarily with red in it if you don't like it. Maybe a darker taupe? Depends on what the flooring is. To unify the red curtains in the room use other decor like framed pictures, pillows, a throw, lamp shades (can spray paint them if they are a smooth surface-not tufted or gathered in some way), a runner across your coffee table, etc.
- Q: I already have my carpet and padding. We purchased a whole house of like new, but used carpet at a great price for our LR and BR's and we have carpet padding. We planned to pay to have the carpet installed, but we are now completely out of money and paying someone is not an option. I know it will not be as nice or last as long, but I am wondering if we can glue the carpet down? It's just a regular mid-grade plush carpet. I am also wondering if this can be done with carpet padding or can it only be glued directly to the sub-floor? I am trying to figure out if I could staple down the carpet padding and somehow glue the carpet to the padding? Any help/suggestions on gluing down carpet with or without padding would be appreciated. Thanks!

- Q: I know carpet pythons are semi arboreal but do they need a vertical terrarium or would one be happy in a horizontal cage. And what is the minimum terrarium size for an adult jungle carpet python? Thanks:)
- this could be a splash on the small element for a snake that length. it may be ok for some months, i think of. they're semi-arboreal, they don't spend all their time hiking. Jungle carpets tend to be delicate approximately being moved, regardless of the incontrovertible fact that. ensure your cage is sparkling and punctiliously disinfected. Why is your pal not providing you with the cage the snake is in presently?
