- Q: i was wondering if you can vacuum shag carpet because i am redoing my room and i always wanted shag carpet but am a neat freak so i wanted to find out if i can vacuum it. --------------------lt;3 Cassie Thanks
- Yes, vacuum your room at least once a week. A carpet rake will keep it groomed, many homemaker's use them to keep the carpet looking neat and orderly.
- Q: I rent a duplex and the carpet was brand new when we moved in. the first time i went to vacuum it tore up a big string of carpet. now i have 3 or 4 spots in my house that have runs in the carpet. How do i fix these? is there away without redoing the whole carpet? I would like to get my security deposit back.
- First, I would call the landlord/lady and tell him/her what happened. If it is new carpet there may be a warranty for defective carpet. You don't want to be responsible for damage to the carpet if it is defective. Second, What kind of carpet is it? My carpet is Berber and my cats have pulled up areas where the seams are and where it meets the tile. I use Household Goop (I get it at Home Depot) for almost every problem and it works well. You also might try some carpet glue. There is also a product called FABRI-TAC that I got from a fabric store. It is a permanent adhesive, fast grab quick dry, bond fabric, lace, trim, leather wood, and is washable. I used it where the carpet meets the tile and it worked well, very quickly. I hope you find a solution to your problem quickly.
- Q: What color carpet can match with fushia sofa
- Suggest that coffee use the kind of pure white imitation of white marble. Wallpaper can use some warm colors, more soft As for the carpet, it's up to you~
- Q: How do I fix this? Vacuuming only helps a little. The carpet is mushed from being stepped on all year in some areas, and other areas it looks like it did when we bought it. This makes the mushed area very noticeable. It is a lighter color than the carpet was originally.
- You are describing polyester carpet, made from recycled plastic bottles, the squishing effect is permanent. When you replace it, ask for Nylon carpeting. Nylon is the best in the business next to Wool. Also, do not ever administer any so called carpet freshening powders to your carpet, as they are a rip off. Do not use any toy (Bissel or Hoover) carpet cleaners on your new carpet, as they are famous for leaving sticky soap residue in the carpet fibers that will attract dirt/soil like a magnet. This soap residue may also be responsible for allowing the carpet fibers to pack down.
- Q: looking to get carpet for 1 room
- Just a standard carpet will average around $3,50 a s/f installed. Of course you can do higher or lower, it all depends on the over all quality of the carpet. Most carpet comes in 12 and 15' wide rolls so you ll need extra to seam it together. So you can t go just by the 13x13 ( 169 s/f) of the room size. In 12 foot widths you ll need a pc 12x15 or 180 s/f or a pc 15x13 ( 195 s/f) to fit the room. The are some patterned carpet that come 13'6. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar. GL
- Q: Have you or anyone you know had any allergy problems after getting new carpet?
- yes...so see a Dr and get some meds or go to the store and get some OTC meds..
- Q: how to deal with if milk pours on the carpet? And the smell.
- Then wipe using water absorption paper or a towel, finally using the hair dryer to dry. Absorb milk with flour, then use detergent or washing powder with water in the milk trace, immediately brush
- Q: Can anyone give me some tips on how to get chocolate out of a beige carpet? I found a mysterious chocolate trail(most likely melty chocolate chips or Hershey's kisses) across my bedroom carpet. I don't really know how it got there-.-While we're on the subject...I also have a rather large shampoo stain(I didn't know shampoo STAINED carpet...but apparently it does?) and a some green nail polish spots on my floor. I know...I don't take very good care of my carpetgt;.lt;But it would be nice to have my floor looking a little fresher...Thanks in advance:)
- Treating any carpet stain depends on what your carpet is made of. If it's wool or another natural fiber, it will be harder to treat these stains. If it's synthetic (most wall-to-wall carpet falls into this category), you may have an easier time. A diluted solution of brake cleaner, which contains the same chemicals that professional dry cleaning incorporates, will work to remove most food stains. This is a nasty chemical, and you have to consider whether you want the fumes in your house -- but it will do the job better than off-the-shelf carpet cleaning products. Whatever solvent you try, the method is to blot up as much of the stain as you can, wet it (with water or a cleaning solution), and blot some more. Don't rub, as this will abrade the carpet fibers and work the stain in deeper. I would try plain water on the shampoo stain before anything else. For the nail polish on the floor -- depends on what kind of floor surface you are talking about. You might try applying a non-acetone nail polish remover *just* to the polish spot, with a Q-tip. Avoid using an acetone-based remover (will damage almost any surface). If your floor is vinyl or laminate (engineered faux wood), you may have better luck trying to gently scrape it off with a table knife. Finally, if you have wall-to-wall carpeting, a professional carpet steaming service is a pretty good buy for the kind of results you get (and the work you save yourself). Consider spending a couple hundred bucks and skipping all the work. Good luck!
- Q: The ones with the rubber underneath. It doesn't say on the tag. Can you wash them in the washer and dryer? Or will it melt in the dryer?
- I put mine in the washer and the dryer. I wash them in warm water and dry them on the low heat setting. They are clean and fluffy every time. The only thing to watch out for is bleach. Washing the rugs in bleach will erode the latex backing on the rug and destroy it. Just some regular laundry soap without bleach is best. Good Luck!!! :)
- Q: Some guys have peed on my rug, I'm trying to find out who was responsible this. That rug really tied the room together.
- Oh dear! Untrained friends are the worse, trust me they will always go back to that spot to be again and again. Urine gone is wonderful for getting rid of the scent, cause once one friend smells it they all will and they all be pissing all over your rug. Always stick their noses in it and say bad friend get a newspaper and clock em over the nose with it and then make them kennel up. Good luck
