- Use hairspray but the kind in an aresol can and dab don't rub, keep using fresh paper towel, I've gotten pen and grease out of coats, carpet etc with it but the trick it to dab and keep using fresh paper towel. Also when you get to just a bit left scrub it with TSP Tri Sodium Phosphate worked for me with chinese red candle spill on my beige carpet, it was aa wool carpet worked really well, with candle paper towel and an iron, ink just paper towel and aresol hairspray. - You should have not gotten it wet. You should have vacuumed it up right away. There is no real way to get that out of the carpet now. I have tried. I did the same thing. Spilled an ash tray, brushed off as much as i could, then used resolve. I still have the stain. nothing helped. Sorry :(
- Q:Today I placed my laptop on the living room rug for a little while, and when I picked it back up I could feel little tiny bumps on the base of it. So I turned my laptop upside down and I could see about 30 or so super tiny bugs that were crawling around. They are so small that it's hard to say what color they are. But they are smaller than a grain of sugar! I do have two dogs, so I dont know if they came from the dogs, but I have never seen these things before. Does anyone know what they might be?

- Remove urine stains with a sponge dipped in cold water. Wet the sponge pad gently, wipe it gently from the middle edge of the urine stain, or immediately dilute the urine with soda water. Apply some water detergent and a few drops of ammonia water at the urine stain. Silk and wool are not to be treated with ammonia Cover urine stains with a water absorbent pad impregnated with a water-based detergent. Cover time enough to clear all urine stains. When the absorbent pad absorbs urine stains, replace it. To maintain the water pad and urine stains are soaked with water-based detergents and ammonia. Then rinse with clean water (that is, pass the stain in the past, remove some of the dye and detergent residue), urine stains, and then daub some water detergents and a few drops of white vinegar. Wash the fabric clean with water and repeat the process as needed. Last dry. When handling carpet, use Stain-X carpet detergent, Up&Out (not wool fabric) or Afta carpet detergent after all procedures.

- It is possible to cut out a piece of the carpet and replace it with a piece taken from a closet or something. Or you might have been smart and saved some leftover scraps when it was installed. However, it has to be carfully done and still might show since it may be faded more that the patch. to do the job you would have to by seam tape, and rent a seam iron. cut the patch to fit exactly in the spot you cut out, put seam tape under it and use the iron to melt the glue on the tape. You may also have to stretch the carpet and refasten in the doorway to get out any wrinkles. If you've never worked with carpet, you're probably better to hire it done, but it still would be cheaper than a whole new carpet

- Q:I want to know which carpet cleaner is better the Hoover Platinum or the Rug Doctor. I am just using this for my home. Anything better I don't need the huge professional monsters.
- I have a Hoover dirt extractor (it's a few years old so probably not a platinum) and I'm really pleased with the way it works and ease of use. When I clean my rugs, I always finish up by rubbing an old towel over the rug to remove any excess moisture and surface residue. It really helps speed up the drying time. The Rug Doctor is a lot bigger, heavier and a lot more expensive. Hoover is very reasonably priced and does a good job.

- If you're asking how to install new carpet, think carefully before you attempt it. Carpet mechanics have several years experience before they can do it professionally. You need the proper tools. A power stretcher is a plus. The ability to use the proper tension so as not to tear the carpet but assure a tight stretch. A knee kicker a must., and the ability to kick it without damaging your knees. Even those experienced have this happen. If not used properly it can tear out carpet fibers, leaving a bald spot/s. A seaming iron a must, and the knowledge to use it without melting the pile of the carpet. Using the proper heat on the seaming tape. Proper carpet knives, and the ability to properly cut a true and straight edge when seaming fills, and at doorways. Following the wires of the pile when trimming. Knowledge in cutting Across wires in order to make good seams. Proper trimming shears to trim carpet pile when necessary. Wall trimming tool, and ability to trim the correct amount of salvage in order to tuck, without scarring walls. If tack strip needs any replaced, the knowledge to place them at the correct distance from the wall to suit the type of carpet. Ability to hammer nails in the strip without hitting the walls. Strip can be as close as 1 /1/4 from the wall. Inexperienced installers have damaged walls. Problems can be encountered with concrete and must be solved properly. Padding will likely be replaced and adhered to the floor at a correct distance from tackstrip. This is not a job for amateurs. Carpet is too expensive today to screw it up. You could injure your back and knees.
