Q: I have noticed on some power cables there is a quot;bumpthat the cable is wrapped around what looks like a magnet. Why?
it's called a ferrite choke and are used in a wide range of prevention of electromagnetic interference (EMI) and radio frequency interference (RFI) from power supply lines and for prevention of malfunctioning of electronic equipment.
Q: It's provided to me by my ISP which is Cox. If I were to unplug the power cord what would happen, would my phone no longer work without another technicians appointment. I know that the motorola cable modem with no phone service you can power cycle that one.
With my Cable company it's the first thing you do (or the first thing tech support tells you to do) when there is any problem. It is set up to restart after power failures and brownouts, so I would say go ahead. If the phone doesn't work after you power cycle, Power cycle again and see if that time works.
Q: I bought a Garmin GPS, but my cigarette lighter is near my gear shift. Does anyone know how to add a power cable so the cable is behind the gps on the window?. I can always take it somewhere for about $100.
Here's what you can do. Assuming that the Garmin has a MICRO USB port on the back, get a MICRO and MINI USB cable from Tiger electronics. The cable will have MICRO on one end, and MINI on the other. Next, get a Belkin USB adapter for a cigarette lighter. Next, go to a car stereo shop, and get a FEMALE end of a 12 volt power supply Next, get an add a circuit fusible tap (make sure you note if you have mini or regular blade fuses), get the right one. Using your owner's manual, find a fuse circuit that is switchable by ignition (the cigarette lighter one would work). Pull that fuse, and make sure you have the another one for the add a circuit. 12-18 is always best. Crimp the add a circuit tap to the female end of the 12 volt power supply. Find a clean ground, usually a screw on the fuseblock. Attach the ground wire using a loop spade tighten the screw down. Reinstall the add a circuit Turn ignition on, GPS should work Clean up the cable usually around the trim where the windshield meets the frame.
Q: I got two mobile GPS units for my car which use a mini USB interface for powering. One of the units didn't come with a cigarette adapter so I am trying to figure out how to power it. Can I just use a normal USB cable? I would tap the red wire into the fuse box in my car, and ground the black wire to the frame. So:-Can a mini USB cable handle 12V for ~5ft-Is that the right way to connect them? Thanks!
I believe usb cables supply 5 volts. You might want to check that before you fry something.
Q: i want to run a power cable from my battery from under the hood to my trunk for a amp that i want to power. i have a 94 mercury cougar. and i have seen it done under the car and through the firewall into the cockpit, if i want to run it through the firewall which way do i put it through? can someone send me a link to a pictured instructions? or just tell me how? thanx
Look for a grommet around the steering column or brake pedal. Using a screwdriver from inside the car, poke a hole and with a piece of coat hanger, tape your wire to it and pull it through towards the engine side. If you can't find a grommet, drill a hole and put a grommet in.The center of the grommet should slide easily over the wire and drill the hole the same size as the grommets outer diameter in the groove. The fuse should be no more tha 18 from the battery. _______ (sigh) Technically, running your RCA wires and power wires shouldn't cause any problems and can be dubbed a myth. However, a lot of people will disagree. For induction between power and signal wire to occur, a form of AC (with some current) must be introduced on the DC power wire. The signal throught the RCA cables, doesn't have enough current to do this. However..... One solution, if you want to run them together, is to have good shielded RCA cables and/or to separate the RCA wires and twist them (as in twisted pair wire, twisted pair wire is used in CAT3, CAT5 and CAT6 communication wire to eliminate noise/interference/induction). Another solution is distance, you don't have to have cable on both sides of the car as a 1 foot separation will do just as good.
Q: Hey and just to start off with, your answer will be deeply appreciated, thanks..... Its about my PS3, when I was flying to Lebanon (which I am in now) my PS3 power cable got taken and thrown away by the airport officials the second time my bag was scanned.....so now I can't play any games because of this, it sucks goat balls, I know but my question is.... Where can I find another power cable..... P.S, my console was bought in Canada so the voltage was 120v I think but it was misbehaving when I used it with the converter I bought so I tried using without it and it worked like a charm on 240v, if that helps.... if there are any details I have missed out, my e-mail address is .uk
that sucks!!! and weird, when i was boarding a plane, they kept all my stuff, but they did check it.... the best thing you should do, is buy a new one from online and let it go to your destination.
Q: Hello guyzz, recently i have bought new card powercolor radeon hd 6770 1gb gddr5 .i installed it but it required a 6 pin power cable forbut i checked in my all pc.i cant fine any 6 pin power cable.so without any cable its not working wat i do plzzz help.
This is something you should check before you buy the video card. The card may have come with an adapter that plugs into a couple of your ide molex power connectors, and has the 6 pin connector you need on the other side. That might do it for you. Unless you don't have ide power connectors either. Or you can buy a new power supply. If your current power supply isn't big enough to support the new card you may end up buying a new power supply anyway.
Q: In the wire and cable factory, will be marked on the wire and cable voltage level, I would like to ask the current market, wire and cable marked on the voltage level which? Such as: BV-450V / 750V. Cable in the order to pay attention to what issues? As well as cable inspection when the attention to what issues? More
Basically are refining, the wax is also used, the high cost of particles
Q: I have bought a 9800 gt it comes wid only 1 cable and i dont knw where to connect it.
If you're talking about the lever on motherboard at back of slot you wont have to push it down to install the card. You simply press the card in firmly but gently. Most of the time, but not all the time, you will hear it click when it locks in. You only pull down on the lever when removing the card to unlock it. You don't have to plug any power connectors into the card as it gets its power from the PCI-ExpressX16 slot.
Q: printer is powered on. cables are securely connected. printer has ink and paper. printer installed as network printer on all client computers. other users are able to print to the printer. but printer not working on the other computer
go to computer that can print to the printer, click start, click printer and faxes and note share name and ports. then go to printer that does not print, click start, click printer and faxes... if printer is shown, compare with the other computer if printer is not shown, click add printer (wizard pops up) using info from other computer that can print. btw, go to printer manufacturer website, download and install latest software/driver to computer that does not print. good luck!!!
