- Q: I am currently doing a guitar build and want to do the 21 tone jimmy page wiring style. I have a few questions. I can follow the diagram attached fairly well but am just confused on certain points. 1. for all the wires excluding the pickup wires, so the majority of the black wires, should those be hot wire or ground wire? I bought a wire back that has black ground wire and hot white wire and am confused on what to use when. 2. Specifically with the black wire coming from each pickup, once those go to a terminal on the pot the black wire that comes off of that joint is a connecting wire like in question 1, not a stretch of the pickup wire correct?3. When multiple wires come to a single solder joint should you tin the pot and then add one wire at a time to that spot or solder them all together and then to the pot?
- Hello there, 1) Excluding pickups, black wire hot or ground? They use black for both in that diagram. I believe the only ground wires are all marked as ground in the diagram. A ground wire will run from the case of a pot to somewhere. To the ground side of the jack. To the bridge. To another pot. As for what you bought, I have no idea what you are trying to say. There is no difference in the wire itself that is used for ground or hot. You can use any wire (except bare) for either of those. 2) The black wire from the bridge pickup goes to a terminal of the switch on the push/pull bridge volume pot. You may solder the wire and continue the same wire down to the terminal of the switch on the push/pull tone pot. Or you can use another wire to connect those switches. The black wire from the neck pickup go to the middle terminal of the neck volume pot. Again, you may continue the wire from the pickup or solder in another wire to connect to the switch on the push/pull neck tone pot. 3). When I run ground wires to the case of a pot. I used separate solder joints. I do not wrap the wires together and then solder them as a group onto the pot. I have tried that and got bad connection on some of the wires. Best to solder ground wires separately. On a switch terminal where you have two wires coming to the same terminal, I try to solder both wires at the same time to the terminal. 4). All connections are soldered. Also, you should be aware that not all pickups have the same colored wires. You need to check the color code for the brand of pickups you are using. Seymour Duncan makes his diagrams based on using his pickups. If you use some other brand, the color of the pickup wires may be different. Seymour Duncan has a pickup wire color code chart on his web site. Later, Norm
- Q: In that chart it has 2 sections, one is maximum amps for chassis wiring and the other is maximum amps for power transmission. What is considered chassis wiring and what is considered power transmission?

- Q: need to know how to properly wire this amp in a truck
- wow I have never heard of this amp until u mentioned it. the ratings seem good. ur best option would be to call sonic electronics have them send you a manual on how to wire this amp. they sell this amp. I mean u ask how to properly wire it. wire it to get power ? or to the woofers ? red wire + goes to your battery. black wire - goes to your ground (not your battery) to the frame of ur vehicle. then u need a blue wire, your remote this wire goes to ur stereo's remote wire it should be the same color or it will be marked. but if u do not know how to hook up an amplifier u should go to a professional shop due to the fact if u improperly hook ur amp up YOU CAN START A FIRE IN YOUR CAR.
- Q: I keep trying to strip this damned wire but the copper wire inside the tubeing constantly ends up getting split apart instead of staying together. Im pretty sure Im doing it right Ive done it before easily. The wire is very old though could that be the problem?
- You need a tool that cuts through the insulation with a pair of half circle dies so that the wire is surrounded by the cutter, but not bruised by it. Of course, you need a different size for each wire gauge. Some also pull the insulation chunk off automatically with a single squeeze. I'll add some links to examples, manual and automatic. -- Regards, John Popelish
- Q: im installing lights in my car and it says i need a 12v wire. can i use somthing more then a 12v wire? im hooking it right from my battery. what other wires can i use?
- If it says 12 volt wire, it just means you need to supply the lights with 12 volts. Depending on how much power the lights pull, will depend on how thick the wire should be. If it is saying to use 12 gauge wire, well, then use some 12 gauge wire.
- Q: i just got guitar hero 3 and i want to buy another guitar contoller for the xbox 360 but my mom only wants to buy the wired one because it is cheaper is there anything wrong with the wired one and should i get it or not since i will be playing it with my brother. also how long will the wire be.
- There's nothing wrong with the wired controller, but once you get used to the wireless one, the wired one feels a little bit weird. The wireless one has smooth fret buttons that feel nice, and the strum bar doesn't click as much. Also the body is thinner and smaller, making is more comfortable. The wire for the wired controller is 8 feet I believe.
- Q: I recently bought a stereo for my truck. What is a good average gage for a ground wire? Speaker wire? Power wire? Last but not least a speaker control (remote) wire? If it helps, I am running a 760 watt pioneer amp on two 12 inch subs. Thanks
- seriously, who would use 14 guage wire for your subs? I am running 1000+ watts With an Alpine 4 channel and a Diamond Audio Sub amp, not some cheap Sony, Jensen, Audiobahn or the like. I have an 8 guage power/ground wire to my dvd player, 4 guage to each amp, i run 8 guage pwer wire for my speaker wire to my subs. my remote wire runs relayed thru 16 guage
- Q: how do i connect ignition wire from fuse box to cd player?
- your wanting to run a wire from your cd player to the fuse box?, ok, take a piece of covered wire, hook it to the hot wire of your cd player, run it down to the fuse that says radio, it should play on accessories and while your driving.
- Q: my questions is what wires go where. i just bought a Hunter thermostat model # 44155c. on my old thermostat the wires are as followes:W2-jumps to quot;F(Yellow Wire)F-Yellow WireO/B-Light Green WireR-Red WireG-Dark GreenC-Red Wire Y-Yellow WireMy new thermostat has these options:RH, RC, G, Y/O, W/B, Y1can anyone tell me what wires go where?thank you
- Well, unfortunately, this particular Hunter model isn't well-designed for operating heat pumps, which is what I'm assuming you've got, since you've got a W2 (aux heat) wire and and O/B (compressor reversal) wire. Still, you can sorta get it to work, but it might take some trial and error, when it comes to the O/B wire, as I'll explain in a minute. Here's the connections you should make: RH - 24VAC hot - connect to R wire RC - 24VAC cool - Jumper this to the RH connector G - Fan - connect to G wire Y - Compressor - connect to Y1 The O/B wire should connect to EITHER the Y/O or W/B, depending on your heat pump. If the reversing valve of the pump is supposed to operate when it heating mode, then you connect to the W/B terminal. If the reversing valve operates in cooling mode, you connect to the Y/O terminal. The other wires should be taped off with electrical tape and left disconnected. These wires are: W2 - auxiliary heat control - leave disconnected (your thermostat can't activate auxiliary heat) F - not sure what this is, to be honest; it might be for controlling a thermostat system check LED C - 24VAC common. Your thermostat doesn't need it.
- Q: I am installing a Pioneer head unit in a 1997 Nissan Pathfinder. All the wires from the harness to the deck are connected according to color. I was able to connect all of the wires except for the stock orange/black wire coming out of Nissan's harness. I am assuming this wire has something to do with the illumination. The pioneer does not have an orange/black wire to connect it to. The deck will not turn on at all if the orange/black wire is:- not connected to anything- connected to the red power wire- connected to the yellow power wireThe deck will turn on if the orange/black wire is:- connected to the black ground wire- connected to the remote wireHowever when the headlights are turned on the head unit cuts off and will not turn back on until the headlights are shut off again. In other words, the deck will work fine until the headlight switch is turned to the on position. Does anyone know a solution to this problem? Thanks, Dan
- This link may not be accurate... The only wire I see in the first link which is close in color is the black/yellow wire for the left rear speaker ground....no black/orange combo shown. Factory ground wire should be grey...test with a test light to confirm Constant power is pink....test also Switched power is blue...test also Once you confirm which wires are power and ground, hook those up to the deck wiring and then run the speaker wires to the proper ones on the factory harness. You can't always connect the same color wires from an add-on deck unit to factory wiring....wiring colors will differ. Consult the installation instructions or call the deck manufacturer tech assistance hotline. Make sure you have the correct wires from the deck hooked up to those factory wires....I'm thinking you have the wrong wire hooked up to the rear speaker ground or deck ground and the unit will only ground when that wire is activated somehow when the light switch is on.... /blue? is the factory illumination wire according to the first link. Have you got that hooked up wrong with the deck ground or speaker?
