Q: so i got a few questions. on my 2000 chevy cavalier i got my audio system upgraded but toke it to a shop to get done i am ready to hook up a amp and woof but wanna do it my self to save a few hundred bucks as i was observing my car where to put stuff at i notice a blue wire that is going from where it looks like from my radio to my fuse box on the driver side and is hooked up to a fuse. what is that? and if its the remote wire can i hook up the remote wire for the amp with that blue wire to or is that to much?
There should be a block in that fuse panel marked auxiliary or aux. That will be the 12V power conx but I advise you to be safe and let the pros do the job for you.
Q: Hi,I'm trying to connect a Panasonic CQ RDP200-LEN car radio. Normally, there is red and yellow wire for ignition and constant, and a black wire for ground. However, this unit has 2 yellow wires,2 black wires and a red. Where do these wires go? thanks
Honest answer is to take it to a audio specialist. finding and wiring a stereo from scratch (termed hardwiring) is a hard job even for the most advanced audio specialist. This is speaking from experience. Most wires are not colour coded and you will need a amp meter to measure the current, voltage, continuity and resistance in order to find out what wire does what. One wrong wire could mean new speakers or in the worst case set fire to your car. I've have done hardwires for over 5 years, and I've seen some real mess, which quite possibly could have been avoided for a few quid but impatience and inexperience has lead to new cables, trim and other pieces which were damaged due to bad installations. Please be careful!! added 9/11/06: (Note To other answeres) Don't use Choc connections or block connectors for wiring stereos as these are open connections with exposed areas of metal if they came into contact with earthed chassis they can cause a short try using bullet style or butt connectors they are more secure and sheilded!
Q: why do screen filters have wires with them?
The wire should connect to the monitor framing. Just find a screw and connect the wire to there. Google for Faraday shield - your wire drains the current from RF energy radiating from the monitor but absorbed by your screen - a concept that doesn't apply to LCD monitors, which don't radiate RF - just to the CRT models. Most CRT monitors have such a shield built-in, so you've wasted your money - IMHO - unless it also provides antiglare. Good luck.
Q: I removed the thermostat before marking the wires and I need to know if anyone knows which wires go where?
Hello Kaitlin: It depends on what wires come from the furnace. You will need to go to the furnace and look at the wires. If it is a gas furnace (with air cond.), there should be a R terminal with a red wire attached this is the power line. The W terminal (heat) has a white wire attached. The G terminal (fan) should have a green wire. The C (common) terminal may have a blue or black wire (or not). The Y (cooling) terminal may have a yellow wire. If it is a heat pump, the wires will be R (power), Y (compressor), O or B (reversing valve), G (fan), C (common), the backup heat has different designations, from W2 to Aux, others. There should be a legend on the furnace to assist. Good luck.
Q: im gettin a amp and sub for my car and was wondering how would i make a wiring kit for it ... i have basic knolage of wires but thats about it thanks in advance
the wiring kit is usually: - low gauge cable of certain length (x2) - rca cable of a certain length (x1) - small power connect cable (x1) seeing as these things are already pretty much in their simplest form, I don't see the practicality of making your own wiring kit. just buy one.
Q: I have looked up wires for this car but the ones that I have looked up tell me i should have different colored wires. These are the wire colors i have:yellowyellow/blackorangepurple/whitewhiteblue/redgreen/blackpink/blackred/blackblue/orangeyellow/redwhite/redgreen/orangePlease Please Please help me!Thanks,Ash
The wire coloring (wiring diagram) for my friends 1997 Mazda Protege LX was as follows: Car Radio Battery Constant 12v+ Wire: Blue/Red Car Radio Accessory Switched 12v+ Wire: Pink/Black Car Radio Ground Wire: Black/Yellow Left Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): Blue/Orange Left Front Speaker Negative Wire (-): Violet/White Right Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): White/Red Right Front Speaker Negative Wire (-): Yellow/Red Left Rear Speaker Positive Wire (+): Orange Left Rear Speaker Negative Wire (-): Yellow Right Rear Speaker Positive Wire (+): Green/Black Right Rear Speaker Negative Wire (-): Green/Orange
Q: Electron flow in a conducting wire.?I have some confusion regarding the flow of electrons in a wire when voltage is applied across it. Intuitively, i see that when i apply voltage across the ends of the wire say by a battery. The voltage pushes the electrons in the wire. As, a result the electrons flow in straight direction rather than going zig-zag. Some of the electrons reach the positive terminal of the battery, now my query is what happens when the electrons reach the positive terminal.Do they loose all their energy? Also, how is there a constant flow of electrons in the wire because since electrons are flowing constantly from the negative to the positive, is there no instance all the free electrons in the wire have reached the positive terminal? Basically what i mean to say is do the free electrons ever gets extinct? I am sorry if my question sounds stupid but can anyone please explain me a little bit in a conceptual manner?
Well, the wire is connected to a voltage source. When they leave the positive terminal, they go through the wire, then get to the negative terminal. They then flow through the voltage source and back into the wire.
Q: I got molds done a while back for my finishing wires on my braces. I'm getting them Tuesday, but I'm not really sure what the difference is between finishing wires and the wires I have now. So I'd be delighted if someone could explain:) Also, after you get finishing wires, about how much longer is it until you get your braces off? And, would you recommend the wire retainers, or the clear ones? Why? Thanks in advance!
Finishing wires are for the final stage of braces. They are pretty strong wires that snap tightly into your brackets so the orthodontist can finely control the teeth and line everything up nicely. I can't say how long until you get your braces off...that's kind of a case by case basis. Typically the wire retainers are better than the clear ones from a hygiene perspective. They can also be adjusted unlike the plastic ones.
Q: what wires connect from the vehicle to the a/f sensor
Why do u want to know what wires go to the sensor? If you have a code for the a/f sensor..99 % of the time it is an open in the sensor itself. On rare occasion there are others like a chewed wire by a rodent. But I would just recommend replacing the a/f sensor. And i u were to follow the wires from the male connector they would lead you to a big wire harness that basically just all ends up at the ECU. Just in case u wanted to know.
Q: there is a loose wire in my labtop charger wire. can i fix it or prevent it from happening.
Loose wires just happen - from the way a cable is bent, moved, stored, wrapped, etc... I think (providing it doesn't happen right after you get the product) that it's pretty much normal wear and tear over time. You could try to repair it, but it would involve removing the cable sheath and re-attaching the loose wire which may need soldering. You're probably better off just buying a charger. In my experience, cables tend to last longer if you don't tightly wrap or twist them during storage; I generally just loosely fold them.
