Q: installing whelen car strobe lights.the directions say to wire the power to the battery with wire that can hold 125% of the power: Go with a guage bigger than the wire harness on the strobe. If you go too small of a wire it could put too much of a load on the wire. That will cause it to heat up and can catch fire if it gets hot enough. Like what sparky said, use a relay. I installed neons and strobes in my car using 10ga wire relays, and a power distribution block.

Wires can carry electrical signals which can be used to reproduce the sounds that caused them. This is how sound comes from such as your stereo system's speakers. Maybe that's what you actually mean? If so, copper wires (insulated, of course) are what you want, and if the distance you run the wires is great, the heavier the wire (gauge) the better. If you are transmitting high power to speakers, the wires have to be capable of handling the electrical current involved.

Q: To help clean things up and make wiring a little more simpler on my jeep i got a fuse/relay box off an old junk car. i want to wire my off road lights into this relay box but i'm not sure what size wire is in the box it appears to be either 18 or 16 AWG one place said to strip the wire and measure the wire another says measure in the insulation. i'm not sure what to do. but if it is 18 awg would it hurt to go to a bigger size after the fuse box to my lights or should i rewire the whole box?: For okorder /... Wiring gauge always specifies the diameter of the WIRING not the insulation, since the insulation thickness can vary. You would have to strip the wire and measure the bare wire with a gauge. You can also look at the printing on the insulation for the gauge. Look for something like AWG 14 etc. You can buy a standalone headlight harness that contains the relay and wiring for aftermarket lights. I would recommend running both positive and negative wires all the way to the battery for maximum current.

Q: is there a way to wire an exit sign to a plug for an outlet receptacle?: First off, Aurthur A's answer is composed of several NEC violations; he may be going to electrical hell, if he doesn't shape up. Second, you did not say if this is a required exit sign. If it is, then you will need a licensed electrical contractor to install it; as most jurisdictions will not allow work in anything but the owner's principle dwelling to be done by unlicensed personel.

How do you connect thoes wires to the main wire??? the distribution?: Ok, first thing you want to do is, for each subwoofer, wire a negative and positive together. You can use regular speaker wire to do that (well you're supposed to anyway). After that, you will have a negative and positive terminal left on each subwoofer. What you need to do is run a speaker wire from each of the terminals, so you have 6 different wires from 6 separate terminals. Make note of the 3 positive wires and the 3 negative wires. Now what you do is simply twist together the 3 positive wires together, so you have 1 positive wire. Connect that positive wire to the positive terminal of the amp (if it's a 1 channel amp. If it's a 2 channel, connect it to a bridged channel on the positive terminal. Or however you want.) Do the same for the 3 negative wires. Twist them together to have 1 negative wire, and connect it to the negative terminal on the amp. Finished! That kind of wiring is called Series wiring, by the way. The other kind is called Parallel wiring.
