- Q: On the large harness that goes to the radio, I can't figure out what 5 of the wires are for. on the harness they are b3 (light tan/white), b4 (gray), b5 (black), a6 (pink), and a7 (blue).
- To play an auxiliary source you'd need to fool the deck into thinking it's a separate factory accessory, like an XM radio tuner or CD changer. That's the purpose of the adapter. If you already have a stock XM tuner or CD changer, and you don't want to use it, you might be able to cut the audio signal wires and connect them to an audio cable running to your MP3 player. Then you can set the head unit for the XM tuner but you'll get the audio from your player. But if there's no factory external source equipped in the vehicle, then this isn't an option for you.
- Q: I removed my range hood (switched off the electricity for it first) and there are three wires coming out of the wall. There's a white insulated, black insulated, and totally not insulated copper wire. What is the non-insulated copper wire? When I flip the electricity on, will it have a charge? It was weirdly wrapped around a screw in the box with the wiring...I'm not sure if it was doing anything. Thanks!
- The bare wire is ground, perhaps the most important wire because it is there for safety. Sure the hood would have worked with out it but you may have gotten electrocuted if it wasn’t connected. Whenever connecting wires in anything the ground wire must be connected. If the box you are connecting the wires in is metal, not only do you have to connect the ground wire to any other ground wires you also have to connect it to the metal box so that the box is grounded. Otherwise later you may come back and touch the box and get electrocuted. The ground wire is there to ensure the breaker/fuse gets tripped if a hot wire touches any metal part of any appliance that is connect in the circuit. If not it will be like touching a hot wire just by touching the appliance. Hope this helps!
- Q: Just moved into a new house and the basement is already wired for surround sound. The ends are two wires one silver one gold/brass wrapped together with plastic. Looks like they were cut at the ends. How difficult would it be to wore the speakers myself?
- The color coded wire will correspond to the connection of the positive and negative. You would connect the wire to the receiver, depending on the location of the speaker. Check the speaker that is already installed and see what color wire is going to what terminal on the speaker and match that connection to your receiver. Front speaker connected to the front speaker terminal of the receiver. Your receiver owners manual will also provide you with some direction. Hope this will help you out.
- Q: do speakers function better with thick or thin wires??
- This Site Might Help You. RE: when wiring car speakers.. does the thickness of the wires matter? do speakers function better with thick or thin wires?
- Q: Anyone know which wire behind the navigation unit is the brake wire? I THINK it's pink, but there are multiple pink wires behind the navigation unit.Thoughts?

- Q: How do you attach light wires to boat trailer frame?
- If your frame is hollow, use a fish to bring the wires through the frame. Some things you want to watch out for is corrosion of the trailer, and the wires flapping in the wind, or the wires snagging on something when trailering. That being said if you have to mount the wires externally use enough enough clips to keep the wires snug to the trailer. Be sure to seal the holes you drilled for the clips with silicone or rust preventive paint. If you can go through the frame internally, you need only secure the wires with clips at entry and exit points.
- Q: I'm splicing four pieces of 14-2 gauge copper wire to an 16 gauge electrical cord. The copper wire doesn't have any covering on it. Is it okay to connect the grounds, then attach it to my keyless lampholder? Or is something bad going to happen then?
- Ground wires are typically bare. Just be sure as you put the wires and light back in the box that the ground wire is not near the connector with the black wire. The black one is the one that bites !
- Q: I have a question on Razer Naga Epic.Does the USB charger wire also act as a mouse signal wire or is it still a warless signal even if it's plugged in thru a wire?Bottom line, is the wire in the Razer Naga Epic only for charging?
- Dual Mode Wired/Wireless Functionality The Razer Mamba's dual mode wired/wireless functionality allows you to switch between the wireless freedom and the frenzy of wired play, with zero downtime for charging. By connecting the Razer Mamba via its USB cable, it converts into a wired mouse - the gamer is then freed from battery life concerns as the battery is also charged while in wired mode.
- Q: how do i connect ignition wire from fuse box to cd player?
- find the positive fuse by using a test light on the fuses, when the ignition is on the light your using will light up when the ignitions off it should not light up on the test light, once thats done connect a wire from the back of that fuse behind the fuse box to the terminal run the wire to the stereo wire you need to connect to, twist the wires together use decent electrical tape aroung the join to make sure the bare join does not touch anything else on the car. hope this helps.
- Q: I am wiring a GFCI receptacle with two regular receptacles after it.So before the GFCI I have my 12/2 wire from where it will hook into the box (the line side), after it I have my wire going to the two other receptacles (the load side).Well the GFCI receptacle has screw terminals for the line HOT and WHITE wires as well as a GROUND. On the bottom it has screw terminals for the load side but ONLY the HOT and WHITE, no ground screw.Does this mean that I don't hook up the ground for the load wire or does it mean I have to pigtail the ground to the same screw the line ground is using?I didn't want to assume that I connect the line and load grounds out of fear I was circumventing the GFCI.
- i have an older home with metal boxes, so i attach the line ground to the ground screw in the box approximately in the middle of that wire. then i use the remainder of the wire as a pigtail and attach all of the remaining ground wires to the tail of that wire, plus a pig tail lead to the gfci outlet's ground terminal. if you have plastic boxes, you would skip the grounding of the box, and just join them all together, plus the lead for the outlets ground screw. you may find a picture of this in the instructions that came with the outlet, although they usually are kind of small and hard to read. good luck, hope this helped.
