Q: ok so the passenger side back floorboard was getting wet and i believe the water to have corroded the wiring to my radio i've taken care of the water problem and know how to reconfigure the wiring but do i need to be worried about the security system while tinkering with the wiring see as how sensitive the security in these cars are i figured id check and see what you guys have to say about this pls also give resources as to how you know
you can go to best buy and order a new wiring harness, for your car. all you do is plug it in, to your car and SOUND system and alarm
Q: Source 115V 20A breakerI have 12/2 wire and want to wire this:GFCI 15A receptacle -to- 15A receptacle -to- 15A receptacleI have basic wiring skills, just need reassurance. Thanks.
Make sure the ground in the panel is connected properly. wire first to the gfi - then feed through - check the directions on the gfi - usually the feed through terminals are covered with a yellow warning tape.
Q: 4.A uniform semicircular sign 1.00 m in diameter and a weight of 325 N is supported by two wires. What is the tension in each of wires supporting the sign?
Assuming the wires are vertical, connected evenly to the sign, and that nothing else is supporting the sign, then each wire carries half of the weight. T = 325 / 2 = 162.5N
Q: wiring for generator
We live in hurricane country, our generator hookup is just a big, heavy duty power cord with a 4-outlet box on the end that's shoved through the pet door. Fridge, freezer, fan and microwave are plugged in with extension cords. It's a pain in the butt but it's safe, cheap, and it works.
Q: How is commercial wiring differ from residental wiring in design,operation and etc?
Higher voltages, more complex control systems and equipment, three phase rather than single phase power and wiring, most wiring in conduit rather than just jacketed cables, different types of lighting, different building codes, load calculations and safety standards. There are way too many differences to list here. That's like asking how a jet airplane is different from a car. Can't be answered simply. It requires special training -- I did my apprenticeship in commercial and industrial electrical work and it is far different from residential wiring.
Q: I dont' know if quot;a wiremeans phone call, or whatever the original sentene from the story is as follows:quot;Because I had a wire from Hilton Cubittthis morning.quot;
Wire is as obsolete a word as telegram or cable, which is what wire stands for.
Q: i have a purple wire i have no clue what it goes to, i have a dark blue/brown wire i dont know what it goes to and want to make sure the i just cap off the orange wire…Can someone please help me-it is draining my battery

Q: In the ceiling is one black, one white and a ground. How do I connect a new ceiling fan to these two wires? The ceiling fan has black wire, white wire, a blue wire and a green wire. We don't have green in the ceiling nor do we have a ground...knob and tube perhaps? So, can we connect this fan or not?Thanks!
Personally, I would not connect anything to old knob-n-tube wiring. I would replace all of it with modern wiring. And as for a ceiling fan, not only does it require a box designed for ceiling fan support (which I doubt you have right now), it also requires 3 wires, served by a 14/3 Romex with ground. It will have a black, white, red, and bare ground. The red wire is for the light, black for the fan, white neutral, and bare copper to green ground. On the wall, you will need a double-gang box containing 2 devices. One is a standard light switch controlling the light. The other is a fan controller unit ($12.49 at Home Depot) for the fan speed. It has 4 click-stops, High, Medium, Low, and Off. It uses a standard double-switch wallplate. On the fan itself, cut the chains off. Be sure the fan is set to HIGH, and the light ON when you cut them.
Q: i have some ikea wall lights that are wired to plug but i would like to wire them into exsiting wall points. Is this possibleSandra
Check with your local building code department. The 16 gauge wire used for those lights is not meant to be run through walls. Other than that, they should work fine. Be sure they're on a suitable breaker and are grounded.
Q: i'm building a race car out of a buick century and the tail lights wires got cut, come to find out the fuel pump ties into the talight wiring harness, i found the wires going to the fuel pump but i'm not sure what is what, there's 4 wires going to it, black, black with a white strip, gray, and pur any ideas what is what please so i can just run a switch to the fuel pump... thanks
Examine the wires at the fuel pump junction on top of the fuel tank. I'd bet one of the wires is the GREY wire. Another way you can determine which is which, get a Digital Volt Meter (DVM) and turn on the lights. Check to see which line has power. That's the line for the tail lights. Then have someone step on the brake pedal. Another wire should go hot (have voltage on the DVM). Slowly you will be able to figure out which wire does what. The left over wires (likely two) are for the fuel pump. Good luck. :)
