- Q: i have 2 audiobahn 12s and an adiobahn amp in my 2000 malibu...1. the thin blue wire that comes from the amp to the stereo is connected to an orange wire behing the (stock) stero, and when i turn off the car the amp stays on. does anyone know which wire to connect the blue wire to, so the amp turns off with my radio or when i turn off the key.2. only one of my 12s is hitting, i think ther might be a wire connected wrong behind the stero. since i have a stock stereo and i have a converter hooked up, because it had no rca inputs on it. its not the speaker or the rca wire itself, because when i connect it with a y cable to the amp one or the other will work...i would appreciate it if someone could help.
- I dont specifically know what the wiring diagram for a malibu is, (you should look this up if you dont already know, so that you can properly wire your amp), but this is how it should be connected: 1. the blue wire should be hooked to the remote turn on wire or power ant wire from your car 2. the power wire should be wired directly to your battery, with an inline fuse. The power wire should NOT be connected to any of the wires already existing in your car. 3. the ground wire should be connected directly to a ground point in your car The reason that your amp is not shutting off when the car turns off is because you more than likely did not properly connect the remote turn on/power antenna lead. If your car doesn't have one, you can connect it to the ignition (be careful when doing this). As for the subs, check the wires that you spliced into to your line-out converter. It sounds like you may not have properly connceted the left wire, and only the right is getting a signal. If it's not that, then maybe you bought a crappy line-out converter and it's broken.
- Q: I been having chargeing problems, and I found a tan with black stripe wire in wire harness by the alternator and I cant fig out where it goes. it has a factory conn. on it with a 3/8 diam. hole in it

- Q: but it says there are three Pink wires. There's not even three pink wires coming out of the car.The chassis/clip has been removed (by previous owner) and all that is left is the wires. All that is needed is a list of the colors and what they go to. Thanks.
- Try going to the radio manufacture's website. Some of them have the owner's manuals online with the diagrams in them.
- Q: i got this switch with numbers 1 , 2, 3, and 4 on it and 4 wires red, green, and two black. Which wires go to which number?
- Well it is defintely a 3 way switch. The fourth (green) wire being the ground. I can't tell you by the numbers, but I can tell you by the screws which wire goes where. If it does not apply to your switch you may need to go get a new one. They are inexpensive. The green, ground wire goes to the screw that is usually attached to the arms ( metal extentions that hold against the sheet rock. Now you need to find the red and black wire that are together. Look inside the box where the wires come in and you should be able to tell if the red and black are in the same sheathing. These are your travelers. The travelers need to go on the two screws that are across from eachother. One goes on the right side and one goes on the left. Does not matter which side. The last black wire, depending on which of the two 3 ways you are at is either your power or your light leg (wire going to your light). This wire goes on the last screw. Hope this was helpful.
- Q: Is high quality CAT-5 ok to wire surround sound speakers to the receiver?
- Do not use cat5 wiring. Yes it will transmit the sound but the wires gage is too small. It is also solid core wiring. Solidcore wiring is not the best for speakers. Use a good quality oxygen free copper speaker cable around 16 gage up to 50 ft. If you have 100 watts/channel or more you should use a 14 gage wire. If you are over 150watts/channel use 12 gage. Remember the wire gets bigger as the gage goes lower.12 gage wire is thicker then 18 gage wire. I personally like the Moster XP brand of speaker cable. it is not that expensive. Sometimes moster cable can be overpriced but not so much in the case of this wire. It is very flexible and will layout nice on the floor. I have purchased wire in the past that was similarly priced and it was garbage. The 20% rule stated above is indeed whack as I would have been spending $2,400 on speaker cables. NOT GONNA HAPPEN. About a $1 to $2 per foot is resonable. You will get a more than adequate wire for that price. That is about what the Monster XP cable I use costs. But copper is expensive now so the cost may be higher.
- Q: I plugged in my new Pioneer DEH-P6500it worked for a little bit until i moved it around a littlethe speakers started to go out but the subs still sounded finei messed around with it and found the wire responsible for it allits a red wireit says AAC or somethingif i messed with the copper twist the speakers would come in and outi stripped the wire a little and put it back together but now the head unit wont even turn onand im also left with like 2 inches of red wireis my only option to get a new pioneer wire harness?what is the problem?the red wire i think supplies the power to the whole head unit because when its not connected, the whole thing turns onbut only the speakers go on and off when i messed with itbut it wont turn on anymore
- You may have blown a fuse. Check the fuse on the back of the radio and your car fuse for the radio.
- Q: I have a 98 oldsmobile intrigue. Stock radio was taken out a while ago so all there is are wire hanging out. I don't know what I need, a wire connector or wire harness. Honestly don't know what's what. Also need to know how to use the wire connector/harness.and what goes to what
- First off, if there are bare wires, meaning they are all loose and you see copper then you are in for a rough time. If they are still wired into the stock harness and connectors it will be much easier. If you have a stock harness and connectors, you should buy a vehicle harness adaptor that is correct for your car. Just about any stereo shop should be able to get them. This will plug into your stock harness and give you labeled wires to connect to the harness you get with the new head unit. Just splice them together and you should be good. Very straight forward. Just follow the instructions. If you have bare wire then you will need to get a chilton's or haynes manual for your car. There should be a wiring diagram that lists the color codes for the what wire is what. Use that to splice into the deck harness. This is the harder route because you don't have a lot of slack on the stock wires and its a headache to keep it all strait in your mind.
- Q: hey im wiring up a headunit to my L300 van. The factory headunit wasnt there and im having trouble connecting which colour wires to the factory colour wires. if anyone knows which coulours go to what would be much appreciatedcheers.
- Hi does anyone knows where the stereo looms connect back to .i.e. fused?
- Q: im gettin a amp and sub for my car and was wondering how would i make a wiring kit for it ... i have basic knolage of wires but thats about it thanks in advance
- the wiring kit is usually: - low gauge cable of certain length (x2) - rca cable of a certain length (x1) - small power connect cable (x1) seeing as these things are already pretty much in their simplest form, I don't see the practicality of making your own wiring kit. just buy one.
- Q: I'm installing a remote start system in my car, but I can't find the tach wire. Does anyone know what harness it is located in, and what color the cable is? I've looked over the diagrams, but I can't seem to find the cable that runs to the tach guage.
