Standard 4 wire: I believe that you have a bad gound wire, i realize that the ball should be enough to ground it , but it dosen't always work like that , so make sure that your white ground wire `is hooked up to your truck frame and the white wire coming from the trailer is connected to the frame of the trailer

Q: do speakers function better with thick or thin wires??: It depends. If you are just gonna wire the speakers and just play it with mid volumes or normal operating volumes. these wires weather thick or thin doesnt matter. but if you want to push the speakers to it's potential, you need a good quality wiring kit. mostly these are guage 4-8 wires or thick wires of course thicker wires more current it can handle .

Q: I'm cutting 18 gauge wire, so I can run valve wires to the timer in the garage. The plastic casing over the wire is pretty thick, so I had to squeeze hard. I accidentally cut into the color casing of the actual wire inside, so I want to start over. How can I cut this wire away, and start again?: Take a utility knife and cut a 3/4 slot at the end of the cable parallel with the conductors. Use two pliers, one to hold the outer sheath, and one to grip the conductors. Pull them 180 degrees away from each other. When you have the stripped length you want, cut off the outer sheath where the wires are not inside. Any cutting around the circumference of the sheath while the wires are enclosed, will lead to cutting the insulation on the wires. This is why many manufacturers install a nylon zip cord inbetween the wires. You can grab it with one pliers and pull it away from the cable while holding the cable with the other pliers, to cut the outer sheath.

Q: i want to rewire my trailer harness on my truck. i have a 6 wire roung plug but i wat a 7 wire plug. what is the 7 wires for?: Prepare for accurate and confusing information. The center pin on a 7 pin plug is generally used for backup lights (black wire) if you have them wired in. Being that you have a 6 pin plug you probably don't so you will disregard the center pole. This is the order of color starting from the ground pole (white wire). The ground pole should be the one next to the slot in the body of the plug that lines it up with the plug housing when you put it all together. White (ground), Yellow (L turn), Brown (tail lights), Red (battery charge wire), Green (R turn), Blue (trailer brakes). If you don't have trailer brakes, disregard that pole. The brake lights work through the turn signals, if they are wired separately, it is wrong. Starting at the ground pole next to the slot in the plug, the order of colors goes around the plug in the direction away from the slot, you will end with the blue wire on the other side of the slot next to the white wire. It's very confusing to explain and when you read the colors on the plug compared to what I have told you, you will definately scratch your head. This is the (U.S.) national standard for all trailer wiring, unfortunalely, not all manufacturers adhere to this thus causing confusion for people such as yourself. I cannot even begin to guess how many trailers I have wired and how many tow packages I have installed on cars and trucks. I wish there was an easier way to explain it but the only other option is a diagram which answers does not support. Worse comes to worse and you don't like any of the other answers you get, e-mail me and I will mail you a diagram or maybe even a picture if I can come up with one.

Q: I am replacing a regular light switch with a more fashionable looking design. When I took out the old light switch there was a red and a black wire attached. I am used to white and black. Which wire is considered the white wire when I am wiring this switch?: never heard of a white wire , but theres only 2 wires , dont think itd matter which way round ,cos its only a breaker

GRADE 10 PHYSICS- importance of live wires neutral wires !!!!!!!!!!: These two wires provide the voltage difference (called potential difference) that is responsible for driving the current through an appliance. Live and neutral are terms most commonly use with mains electrical supply .. they are equivalent to + (live) and - used with batteries and other DC sources. The live wire is at the higher voltage (most dangerous) and the neutral is usually close to ground voltage (0 V). Both wires together form the complete circuit required for the current .. from the supply (through the live wire) to the appliance and back to the supply (through the neutral wire). In a mains circuit a switch is always connected into the live wire so that the high voltage is disconnected from the appliance. A switch connected in the neutral wire prevents the appliance from working (so it appears to be off) because there is a break in the circuit .. but the high voltage is still connected to the appliance which may be dangerous. For the greatest safety a switch should disconnect both live and neutral wires at the same time.
