- Q: Hi i would like to ask what is the diference between the two versions of wiring the RJ 45 connector. when I was making my first networking cable, i used the wiring according to an image that only was using/connecting four wires into the connector. the cable works and works well. Now i found plenty of other images, all of them reccomending the full /eight wires/ connecting. Do I run my network on lower Mbits/sec? what are the other four wires used for? Thanks
- You should terminaqte all 8 wires even when running at 100M 10M speeds are ok using just the 4, but at 100M, while the unused pairs do not carry a signal, they do help with attenuation.
- Q: I wired an outdoor lamp-post. I tested it before wiring it to the fuse box...and if I touch the lamp-post I feel the current (a slight shock). I will be using a ground fault breaker....so I assume if I wire it to that I am going to loose the connection. Any thoughts on what is wrong?
- You likely scratched the wire somewhere. When I did an outdoor shed the wire made a corner on some metal and scratched the insulation. It is a leak rather than hooking up the wrong wire, otherwise you would have gotten more than a tingle. First I would examine everywhere the wire comes in contact with the post. Second Check all the connections to see if some were improperly taped, or the wire was cut when stripping.
- Q: why is neutral wire.explain plz
- in case you're speaking with regard to the cord from the ceiling to the wall swap, that's the place you interrupt the flexibility going to the ceiling container. If there is basically one cord and that's warm, its the cord that comes from the flexibility source and you nevertheless could desire to run one as much as the ceiling to end the transport of ability. there is not any could desire to swap the impartial cord, so it would not get run right down to the swap, basically the nice and comfortable/black cord. What does the ceiling have? If there's a black cord that's no longer stay, and a white cord, then perhaps your black cord to the ceiling from the swap has been pulled out of the swap container. do away with the container and dig around and notice in case you will locate it. turn off the optimum mutually as you do it, as you do no longer understand what is going on yet with the circuits.
- Q: I am installing a GFCI outlet in the kitchen (20 AMP) the box that it is already installed in has more than nine wires running into it. What I need to know is how does one determine the load wires from line wires when there are multiple wires running to an outlet box?
- you do not. and repeat do not as this is a botch job, get a qualified electrician, before some person is electrocuted.
- Q: Why do two parallel wires carrying currents in opposite directions repel each other?
- Each wire produces a circular magnetic field. In essence, each wire is carrying current through the other's magnetic field and so the motor effect occurs. The fields are travelling in the same direction between the two wires so like two N poles of a magnet they repel each other.
- Q: I have some salvaged wire from a computer power supply and would like to know it's break-down voltage rating. Most hookup wire is rated at 600 volts but unfortunately, all computer stuff is now made in China. The repair job of a vintage piece of equipment requires wire that can withstand 300 VAC.
- Computer power supply cables do not deliver anything like 300 volts, so I would say no, don't risk it.
- Q: I just bought a set of performance sparkplug wires for my 2001 Chevy Cavalier. I went to install them and my engine is now misfiring like one of the wires in not connected. I have made sure all of the wires are on tight and in place. The wires did not come numbered so i just put them on according to size. What could be the problem???
- I would beleive you have them incorrectly. the cylinders are numbered 1234 from the passenger side to the drivers side. check to make sure they are on the right cylinders. If its a DIS ignition the coils are numbered.
- Q: The wires I have are: 1 red starter cable, 1 tan wire, 1 ground wire to the engine block, 1 red wire to the battery, and 1 red wire that splits into the fuse and into the junction strip. Really need to know which wires go where on the solenoid.
- The tan wire is the overtemp warning horn, should have a flat connector on it, connect it to the temp switch near the top of the cylinder head at the back. solenoid has four terminals, 2 large, 2 small. 1 large terminal gets the battery (+) cable *and* the red wire with the inline fuse (it provides +12V to the keyswitch), the other split end gets juice from the alternator for charging the battery. On the terminal strip, it should hook up to red wire coming from the rectifier (small metal canister-shaped device). It's best to secure the battery cable with a nut, then the red wire with a second nut. The other large terminal gets the cable from the starter positive terminal. 1 small terminal gets the white wire from the main wiring harness plug (it's the start circuit), and the other small terminal gets grounded -- just run a black wire from there to any good engine block ground. The small terminals actuate the solenoid, closing the circuit between the battery and the starter motor. To test the overtemp warning circuit, touch the end of the tan wire to the cylinder head with the key in the on position -- steady tone should sound from the buzzer located in the control box. Might want to take a closer look at your tan wire -- maybe the white one yellowed a bit. In '79 they changed that to yellow/red.
- Q: Need to know what colors are for what and the function of each wire.
- You can get the harness at WalMart or Best Buy. It connects to the aftermarket radio and then just plugs right in to the vehicles harness.....unless you already hacked it off. The thing only cost about $15.00 and makes the installation process a breeze.
- Q: i need to know how much wire size i have to put for 380 volts supply
- Mike is correct. What country are you in? China or Korea? I work as an electrician on industrial equipment. Building a 380 machine now for China. Anyway, it is current that counts. I have used 22 AWg for 480V voltage meters and 2AWG for 24V.
