- Q: having a difficult time finding a wire for my remoter starter
- The white wire to the coil is the tach wire. If you have the 4.3L,there is a white wire with a black tracer from the ignition control module to the coil. If that doesn't help,on the PCM,in the red connector,terminal 10 is the tach wire from the PCM to the Instrument cluster,this wire is also white.

- If the ceiling fan has three speeds, those would be wired to a 3 position switch as low, medium and high. Normally the wires would be labeled if they use the same color. If they aren't tagged, and you want to put in a speed control switch, you'll need to experiment; either at the fixture, or just wire them down to the wall switch and make your temporary connections there to see which wires go with which speeds (then TAG them!).
- Q: I am connecting a humidstat to furnace. I would normally use furnace/thermostat wire for this purpose except that I need 8 conductors and the largest furnace/thermostat wire seems to be 5 conductors. - Q: I attempted to change a bathroom fan to a new one with the help of a friend. He disconnected all the wiring without paying attention to what he was doing and what was wired where. We have a set of wires coming from somewhere (I presume the fuse box) to the fan that is hot regardless of the switch being on or off. That has a black, white and naked wire in it. Then we have another wire that comes from the switch that has black, white and naked as well. The fan has black, white and green. Can someone please tell me how to connect these as we have tried everything and the only thing that works is wired to the constant hot which of course won't allow us to turn the fan off with the switch...
- You need to pull your wall switch to see how it is wired. I suspect the original wiring used the black and white on the switch itself which would make the white actually black or hot instead of neutral. If on one side of the wall switch the black wire is wired and the other the white then you need to wire the black from the fuse panel to the black going to the switch. Then the white coming from the switch to the black on the fan. The white on the fuse panel wire would be wired to the white from the fan and all grounds(bare and green) wire together.
- Q: If I knew which wires went to trim, rpms,engine hours,ect... I could follow them. The engine wiring harnes is stil intact, but I dont know which wire goes to each no matter which end I look at. Like I said wiring is no problem, don't know motors.

- Q: My dad is trying to wire a electric cook top...it has three wires (black, red, and copper). His junction box has four wires (black, red, white and copper). He first wired the black to black, red to red and copper to copper, he capped the white wire in the junction box. The cook top did not work. Then he connected the white wire with the two copper wires, and the cook top now works. So the question is will this connection work or will it cause a problem? And if it causes a problem what can he do to resolve it?

- Well, keeping your colors straight will definitely make your wiring easier to understand later on. Red should got to the positive side, black to the negative. Any other colors are more or less up to you. What actually matters more is choosing the right gage of wire for the job. If your wire is too thin for the current going through it, it will melt quite quickly and possible start a fire. Make sure you know what gage you need before you start, and don't try to go cheap.
