- Are you saying your COMPUTER has both Wired and Wireless ability? If your computer is wired, it won't use the wireless adapter it will use the most trusted connection which is wired. If you want to connect wirelessly, you have to unplug the wired connection or disable it. Otherwise they can both be active but the wireless will only kick in if the wired connection fails. If you are asking something else, please claify. Like you have both a wired ISP and a Wireless ISP etc.

- Short in a wire is when two wires either don't connect cuz they're not long enough, OR when the wires start to smoke or burn or catch on fire.

- Q: How do you wire a 2 wire smoke detector directly to an alarm (no panel). The terminals are numbered 1,2,3,4 and the instructions say that 1 is for DC+ and 2 is for DC-. How do I wire an alarm so when the detector senses smoke, the alarm goes off? Thank you.
- A 2-wire smoke detector? You mean one that plugs into AC? You cannot wire those into any alarm system. If you had a 3-wire (for linking multiple AC-powered units), you might be able to connect an external 120vac relay that closes the alarm contacts when the third (often yellow or blue) wire is switched on. Hardwired smoke alarms for an alarm system get a 12vdc voltage from the panel and also have a pair of dry contacts that are either normally open or (more likely) normally closed until the sensor is triggered.
- Q: I just bought a set of performance sparkplug wires for my 2001 Chevy Cavalier. I went to install them and my engine is now misfiring like one of the wires in not connected. I have made sure all of the wires are on tight and in place. The wires did not come numbered so i just put them on according to size. What could be the problem???
- It sounds like you may have installed the wires out of order. On your car the firing order is 1-3-4-2; standing at the front of the car the cylinder count is from passenger side to driver side (#1 is passenger; then 2-3-4.) Make sure your #1 wire is coming off the #1 terminal on the coil pack, then #3 wire on the second terminal, #4 on the third, and #2 wire on the last one. If that doesn't do it, than you may have bad wires. Check with your mechanic.
- Q: I have a kicker cvr 12 inch 2 ohm dual voice coil sub (400 watts) and a kicker zx750 amp. how to wire?
- wire it in series so you get a 4ohm load. not unless you could still return the sub and get the cvr with dual 4ohm voicecoils. then you can wire that in parallel to 2ohms and get the most out of your amp.
- Q: I have seen 2 wire detectors and horn strobes, and 4 wire detectors and horn strobes. What is the difference? The 2 wires are cheaper.
- In 2-wire systems the power and the detector signal are multiplexed onto 2 wires. The detector has to have circuitry to extract the power and multiplex the signal onto the wires, making them slightly more complex. In 4-wire systems the power is separate from the signal, unless there is more than one signal from the detector (i.e. smoke heat). It could be 2 wires for power and 2 wires for a single signal (i.e. smoke), or 1 wire for power, 1 wire for smoke, and 1 wire for heat, with the 4th wire being common to all 3. .

- Q: trying to install aftermarket side mirrors w/turn signals and don't know where to locate the turn signal wires.it's for an 06 chevy cobalt LS automatic.Also is it okay to use electrical tape on the wires themselves after connecting them?
- The wires should never be spliced and taped with electrical tape on a car. It gets brittle, cracks, unwinds with age. Problems in the future. Go to a local audio installer or Best Buy even and look for wire taps. Do it right and avoid trouble in the future like when you hit a puddle, car wash or winter storm. Find the wire going to the front turnsignal and trace it back as far as you can. Then install the wire taps and run the wires to your mirrors using the same channel the mirror controls and window, door lock power comes through. Luck Roy G KC
