Q:I am wondering as a general question how many rugs would you need im talking about bare minimal if you do not intend to show your horse but clip it so that it does not sweat alot while exercising. please list the rugs you feel are essential to have in the climate of south east england thanks so much for your time xx
My minimum rug for North England is: Heavy weight, full necked (or detachable neck) turnout Medium weight turnout Lightweight rainsheet (no fill) Bug rug (my mare has sweet itch) Cooler Light weight stable Medium weight stable full necked heavy weight stable standard neck heavy weight stable is good but not absoultly essential Waterproof exercise sheet if you intend to work the horse regardless of weather, if you don't have access to an indoor school. This is my minimum for my cob mare, clipped (ranging from a full clip to a trace depending on work load). She's stabled at night and out every day. I'll often have 3 stable rugs on at night in the winter and I'd say our minimum temps are similar to South East as I'm in a pretty sheltered area and low. You could get away without the medium weight turnout but you do then need to use a stable rug under your rain sheet as there are a few months where they need some padding but not the full heavy weight.
Q:I noticed a bunch of sand under an area rug in our living room, and my mom said something about how fibers in old carpets an rugs turn into sand. Is this true? And if so, how does it work?
Carpets almost always have some kind of backing on them and over time the rubber used dries up and crumbles. It is annoying but there's no good way to get rid of it. Vacuuming doesn't remove enough, washing in the laundry will put lots of rubber particles in your machine so either leave it under the carpet or take it outside and scrape it down a lot or buy a new carpet. I never heard of a simple solution for the crumbling backing. Additional: You can also expect it to stick to your floor too. I have a carpet doing that. The residue from the backing is hard to get off the tile floor. Therefore I recommend just replacing the carpet with a new one and save yourself the headache.
Q:It was pretty nice. Any other sites you would suggest?
I suggest a local area rug store. Buying online is good if you know exactly what you want, but if you do not know the difference between a machine-made rug, a hand-knotted or hand-tufted rug, please let yourself be informed by professionals and do your research! This will prevent you from making the wrong purchase and throwing money out the window... Good luck on your search ;o)
Q:My cat has torn up a couple of sections of the carpet in my apartment. I went to Lowe's hardware and they have the carpet I need in stock. However, I keep getting the runaround about what I need and what I need to know to get what I need. I was told that I need to find out how my carpets are installed. I don't want to ask the apartment people because they will charge me a ridiculous amount of money to fix the situation. I have Shag carpeting in my apartment. I do not know how it's laid onto the floor. Is there a way that I can find that out? Also, is there anything else that I need to know? I haven't found any help regarding this except getting the runaround. Please help a girl out! :)
I've had to repair construction damaged carpet in several houses - here's how I went at it. Go to a carpet store and ask for carpet tape - a wide version of duct tape. You should be able to get it as single sided or double sided tape. Take a piece of carpeting identical to the carpeting you have to replace, cut it large enough to replace the damaged section, and lay the new piece over the old. Keep in mind that the carpet has a grain or pattern to it, and in some types of carpet the direction of grain is quite pronounced - so make sure you match the direction of the grain to the original carpet. You may find it easiest to cut the carpeting patch from the back side, or use a knife with a blade designed to cut carpeting (see the carpet store again). As best you can, brush the shag pile on the existing carpet away from the line where you intend to cut it - it'll make cutting easier and the pile will hide the patch when the pile is brushed back into place. Hold the patch in place while you cut through damaged carpet, using the patch as a template. If you're uncertain, make the hole in the original carpet a little small and trim the patch to fit. Once the patch fits the hole in the original carpet, use the tape to fasten the patch to the original carpet (and to the floor if two sided). Get the cat de-clawed. ;-) Good luck with it.
Q:My boyfriend and I moved into an apartment that has white carpets in both bedrooms. White very stained carpets...I've tried the 409 carpet stain remover on them, but it didn't seem to improve them at all. Does anyone have any recommendations for other products, or any quot;home-remediesquot; for ground in, old carpet stains?Any help is appreciated! Thanks!
Ammonia is good for carpet stains. Use it diluted with water (don't mix anything else in). Your best bet, though, is to rent or buy a steam cleaner. Use a solution and pretreat the stains. Then clean them very well with the cleaner.
Q:I am repainting and decorating my spare bedroom and have a question regarding carpet and area rugs. The room has honey stained pine hardwood floors which I want to keep. I dont really want to have carpet installed in the room, so here is what i'm thinking. How do you think it would look if I bout a piece of carpet alittle smaller than the size of the room and put that down? Like 3-5 inches of hardwood still exposed around the edges of the room. Would this look weird? I want just a plain colored light tan carpet with a thick nap or shag like. Any body have this or seen it done? Also should I do something to the edge of the carpet to keep it from unraveling? Thanks for any help
1st of all what you are proposing is very common and works well. So, yes it's a good idea. Shag carpet works well for this because it gives you great contrast from the flat surface of the wood. You definitely would need to bind the carpet, so here is my suggestion. 1. Use blue tape to lay out your rug size and shape. Just put the tape around the room just where you want the rug to go. Don't be afraid to move the line in or out to work around features of the room. 2. After completing the above, draw the shape onto a piece of paper, measure the dimensions and add them to your new drawing. 3. Take your design to your local independent flooring store and have them help you select the right carpet. They will be able to give you a price for the material and the binding complete. You may want them to give you a price option on a felt backing which will protect your wood floor from abrasion. Or if you prefer you can by cushion or a slip knot rug mat to lay under your new rug. Good luck!
Q:i do not want a zebra print rug, i want wall to wall carpeting.i'm not sure where to buy it so please help!also how do you think it would look hot pink walls with the zebra carpet?

Q:Candle wax has dripped onto our carpet and we need a way of removing it without destroying the carpet.
To get candle wax off of a carpet use an ice cube to freeze it and it should come out very easily Sincerely Bobbie
Q:What is carpet back cloth?
It refers to the cloth that is attached to the bottom of the carpet. It is used for wrapping, fixing carpet fiber.
Q:I installed laminate flooring in our living room this past weekend and where the laminate meets the carpet in our bedroom there is about 1 inch of a height difference. Can someone please tell me how to fix this?
If the carpet is that much higher ( not uncommon for laminate) you should have built up the laminate before hand. Not much you can do now. That correct transition pc is a carpet bar made for laminate. DO NOT use any metal pc between the to as some people suggested. The metal will make noises as it rubs against the laminate. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar. I ve attended several installation seminars as well as installed a couple 100,000 s/f. GL
