Q:I accidentally sprayed perfume on my prayer rug. I don't know if I can pray on that rug anymore.
You may have found the formula for a flying rug.
Q:Hi I am fairly new to knitting and I am trying to learn how to knit a quot;purl stitchquot; rug out of a book I just purchased. The book doesn't have very good instructions. If anyone has perhaps a youtube video they could share I would love to see it. Please help! :(
I don't think a purl stitch rug is a standard thing that would have a video. It sounds like a design made specifically for that book. The thing is, there is no need to purl a whole rug when it is generally easier to knit than to purl, and a purl is just the back side of a knit stitch. So you could knit the whole thing in whatever shape you like and just turn it over to have a purl stitch rug.
Q:My 2yr old spilled ALOT of syrup on our large area rug...I tried HOT water, blotting the area, scrubbing the area and carpet cleaning solutions....any suggestions? Rug still extremely sticky when we step on the areas where the syrup is soaked in.
I had this happen to our large area rug and I used our wet/dry Vacuum. If you don't have one you can borrow one from a friend or next door neighbor. Very handy to own. I made a very soapy hot water mix and kept wetting the syrup areas and then vacuuming the soapy water up and repeating. The hot water and soap worked well but on several really bad spots I used dishwasher liquid which broke down the syrup and made the cleanup much easier. I think I vacuumed the rug three times and now the rug looks new and the syrup is completely removed. The shop Vac wet and dry vacuum works great at removing spilled plates of food and especially syrup. Our children had a small party and we had a real mess until I thought about cleaning the rug with mu Shop Vac. Work great. Try this I think you will soon have a new looking area rug, with any syrup. They are having a sale on them at Home Depot for $49.00
Q:I am in soo much trouble, i am baby sitting at a brand new house. The child im taking care of wet the carpet so i used a hair dryer to dry it out. I found out the carpet was synthetic and it melted, there is a huge melt stain, plz help me, how can i fix it, i will die!!!
WHAT?? Are you sure that was a hair dryer and not a freekin' HEAT GUN? I've never heard of a hair dryer that was hot enough to melt the typical polymers used in carpeting. In any case, you tried to fix a problem and for some strange reason it didn't work - if I were the owner, I might be upset, but if you really used just a conventional hair dryer, and it indeed melted the carpet, I think I would be more upset with the carpet company. After all, you were trying to do the right thing. Now, if you're lucky, the homeowner will have some spare carpeting that they've saved away for exactly this kind of accident. An experienced carpet layer can surgically replace that using any one of two or three techniques. They can even do this if the homeowner doesn't have some spare carpeting, although that will add some additional cost, and the match may not be quite as good (depends on the color and style, which if the house is new, will hopefully still be available).
Q:Hi! Were purchasing new carpet for our mobile home. They sell a pad to for an extra cost. Never bought carpet before. Is the pad something we really need? Thank you
Deffinitally want to use new pad. Unless, you want to buy glue down carpet. They sell both but a glue down carpet is more of a commercial carpet. You can get different types of pad if you want to go with something cheaper it might not be as thick but would still be sufficient. If you are going to use glue down then make sure your subfloor surface is smooth and clean.
Q:We have pets, and my dog had an accident on my rug. I trusted that the Bissell Carpet Cleaner and the spray that comes with it (quot;Fiber Cleansingquot;) would clean it. Instead, it made this grease like stain. I tried using Dawn and after scrubbing for hours the stain remained the same. Any suggestions on getting rid of it?I'm extremely mad and want to contact Bissell, but I would like to see if there's some effective way of removing the stain. And also, what do I do about it if I can't remove the stain? Should I write a letter or an email, and if so, what do I say or demand?
woven rug Is this a hand made rug? If so the colors may have run. As for Bissell, I have used their products for years and never had a problem. Of course, i read the warnings and disclaimers like test on a small area first. These machines were designed for standard carpeting. I know you don't want to hear this, but if this is a hand made rug, the fault is yours.
Q:Thinking seriously tp becoming a Muslim, got a free Quran in the mail (English) and looking for any free prayer rug. - Former Christian
Google for the nearest one. In terms of the prayer mat/rug, it's not mandatory to pray on them but if you want one you might have to buy one but you can use a clean bath towel in lieu of a prayer mat if you want to which is what i did. I've used a clean unused plain white towel.
Q:I much prefer modern rugs, but my husband disagrees. He says all elegant formal living rooms have oriental or indian rugs. The modern designs are for casual family rooms only. Help!
Absolutely not. Any beautiful rug given your style choice adds elegance to a room. If your choice is contemporary, a fabulous contemporary rug adds elegance. If your choice is more traditional, then an oriental is perfect or you can mix. A mix of styles takes a little more finesse but it is done and can be done. In the mix, elegance is about choosing your style and doing it right. An elegant contemporary room is about picking the right materials and look. Your husband is wrong. Elegance is about putting the right look together.
Q:Do I actually have to go into a store to price carpet or is there some where online I can do it? I am about to purchase a house quot;as isquot; and I'm calculating the approximate expenses of things repairs that need to be done.
I hope it helps.
Q:I am going to get new carpet and a friend told me to get berber because it wears better.Does it?Is it more expensive than a good plush carpet?
It is very durable, but not very stylish. We just bought new carpet and the comment was made by the sales rep that most men buy berber because it is durable. We ended up buying Frieze which is a very fashionable style carpeting. It's not plush, not berber, but is kinda casual; it's life twisted loop carpeting. And it doesn't show traffice pattern much at all. Ours looks like the sample below. Good luck deciding!
