Q: A mobile mechanic (like one who looks at a cars for sale on e-bay) cannot put the car up on a lift - how important is this in an inspection? Thank you.
A thorough inspection of the undercarriage is essential to a proper inspection. If he does not have ramps or jacks and jack-stands, and a crawler to get under the car for the inspection, give him a pass and find someone else.
Q: First off, I know absolutely nothing about cars. Now that that's out the way, I have 16 inch rims but i want to get a set of 20s, 22s, or 24s. Will i need to get my car lifted to get bigger rims? I was talking to a guy that I go to school with and he was saying something about lifting or lowering the car..i have no idea what he meant but will i need to have this done?
If you go with 20's you will probably not have to make any changes to the suspension. You just get tires that are much thinner (lower profile) and it makes up for how big the rims are. If you get rims any bigger than 20 inches you will likely have problems with them rubbing inside the fenders and your ride quality will suck (depends on what kind of car it is). Any rim shop or tire shop should be able to help you get the right size tires so they fit without lifting the car. The right size tires will also help your speedometer stay fairly accurate.
Q: You‘ve built a racecar equipped with wings that give the car negative lift. You take the 600kg car for a spin driving it into a curve with a radius of curvature 100 m. The coefficient of static friction between tires and road is .75, and the road is flat. a. You push the car through the curve at maximum speed before sliding friction kicks in. If this speed is 29 m/s, what is the magnitute of the negative lift force?b. You remove the wings, what will the max speed at which you‘ll now be able to successfully negotiate the curve?
(a). ∑F ma ?(F_neg_lift + W) m V?/R (0.75)(F_neg_lift + 600 * 9.8) (600)(29)?/100 F_neg_lift 848 N (b). ∑F ma ? W m V?/R (0.75)(600 * 9.8) (600)V?/100 V 27.11 m/s
Q: im planning on putting a 2.5 inch lift on my 08 liberty and i was wondering how to find out what size tires will fit.
well, Conair makes a ceramic flat iron that is da bomb! Its the Wet-Dry kind and I can just jump out the shower and flat iron my natural hair bone straight, yes i said it, NATURAL HAIR getting flat ironed. It's that good! Its red and its Omega shaped, so that it will bump your hair when you straighten it! And it heats in 30 secs. How great!
Q: one side of my car molding has lifted itself from the windshield
They make an actual windshield mold adhesive for that. Prob get at any auto part store. Or department store that has auto section. Would not use imitation kind. Might have same prob later. Chances are the rest will prob be coming off sometime soon. Best only fix 1 time. Keep left over for later use on other side.
Q: How do these three forces: Drag, Lift and Downforce. Affect a formula one racing car? Thanks for answering!Have a great day!
Does you husband remember where he purchased it? The retailer may do an exchange. Glad you were not injured. SCARY!
Q: Is he strong enough to lift a car?
CV Axles? front wheel drive? on the ends of the CV shafts
Q: my car has been impounded, as it was apparently on public highway, the car was covered and the number plates were covered also. Is there anything I can do?
In the UK I suppose the police can lift up covers, so to check the identity of the car. If it was on private property and was covered by sorn then I can't see how they could impound your vehicle, regardless of being covered.
