Q: It‘s a 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis. It has a wheelchair lift on the rear and I was wondering if it is ok to take it through an automatic car wash? Thanks.
Nope. You'll tear up the car wash and they are quite expensive to repair. If an attendant is there they probably won't even let you go through. Find a 'touchless' one and you should be OK but they do a real poor job.
Q: where can i find shocks to lift a car for 22 inch rims?
Air shocks is a short term fix. Short term like for a week or two, cause if they lose air, your tires and rims will be toast, along with the possibility of your car. You need to raise your vehicle, either by a body lift (doubt you want to do that) or a suspension lift. If you have a vehicle with leaf springs in the rear, you can use blocks like they do for 4x4's or lowriders. As for the front, you will need to find out if someone makes lift spindles (I highly doubt it) or have someone custom fab you spindles, a-arms, and whatever else is needed to raise your front end. Either way, I wouldn't suggest going over 3 inches because of driveline/tranny problems that could occur. Unless you can afford the vehicle to be raised correctly, I would get smaller wheels or a different vehicle, as you will end up paying more in the long run for someone doing a half-a** job.
Q: i‘m just new in driving. currently driving manual. i heard you can move your car by just lifting the clutch a little or at the middle without pressing the gas. so i tried it -- and it worked.is it safe, for example: just parking? does it consume gas?/lesser?
This is perfectly fine. use it only for parking or reversing out of a driveway.
Q: The maximum speed of a car in a headwind of 15 m s^-1 is slightly higher than its maximum speed in still air.why is this?I cam across it in an Engineering book and dont understand.Would it be because the wind creates lift which then makes the car lighter and able to go slightly faster?
im a fellow engineering student. Possibly lift, but I doubt it cause most car aerodynamics produce heavier 'down' forces to keep the friction high. My guess would be that you read it wrong, or the book is saying something else.
Q: Because I‘m Shelby Marx and I‘m tough, but still find it extremely difficult to lift the back of my father‘s car in mid-air, totally.PS: I can do 40lbs on a double bar 10 times!
YOU ARE SO STRONG! -.-
Q: I am a senior male in high school I cannot choose between a muscle car and a huge lifted truck. please help!!! I currently have a 1973 pontiac ventura GTO but I think I want to get this 1984 ford f350 with 6.9 idi diesel and 37 tires and 10 lift, please help me!
Trucks like that are for people with tiny junk.
Q: How do muscle cars get their choppy idle. Please explain as if you are talking to someone who has little experience with engines.
Not safe at all to drive like that
Q: I have a 1999 toyota corolla 4 cylinder automatic. I bought this last year, and didn‘t have any back problems. Now I have severe back problems, and pain. Getting in and out of it is killing me! I really like my car, and I have invested a lot of money into it, and would prefer not to sell it. My dad has a 1990 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 pickup truck ( 3/4 pickup truck ) and getting in and out of it is a lot easier for me. I can‘t drive it all the time due to the price of gas. My Dad also has a 2002 Nissan Maxima, and it is a few inches higher, but doesn‘t help my problem. Is it possible to lift my car up about 12 inches or so?Around How much would parts cost? How much would labor cost? What is the most you could lift this? Is there anything else that I could do to help me with this problem? I don‘t have a lot of money to spend. If will be checking this often, so if you ask any questions, I will answer them.
I have sciatica and sometimes it flairs up, for weeks at a time. I am just now beginning to be able to walk properly.but it does go away. I would suggest you seeing a doctor and spending your money that way. it would cost a fortune to raise the car, IF it is possible.Lift kits are designed for specific vehicles. The problems involved with lifting, include the steering gear has to be changed, the shocks, the springs, the alignment, drive shaft, u joints and who knows what else. Along with making the ride more choppy and unsafe. (easier to tip over) The motor isnt raised, so the drive shaft angle will be changed, and the u joints will wear faster. Get a higher 4 x 4 vehicle, and see your doctor.
