- Q: hello all. my boyfriend just took our car to his shop to do a trans fluid change and rear brakes. well he used this lift with 4 feet that you can position around and the lift uses hydrolics. well it went up fine but it wont go down now it will go down a little bit but it stop and one side starts to go down. he did everything right almost breaking his hand pulling the safty lever to disenguage the locks. please help. i have to work monday and i miss my car!!
- Raise the lift back up and then release the safety locking mechanism that keeps the car from dropping. All hoists have these safety locks on them. Raise it up and hold the release and then lower the vehicle while holding the release all the way down. I'm an auto mechanic by the way.
- Q: my 2001 Ford Taurus is sagging a bit in the back, I was told that I needed rear struts, will this correct that any ? I was told that I did not need to replace the springs, they are still good
- u need to change the springs
- Q: Danous Estenor may sound like the name of a character from a Tolkien novel, and he may look like a grizzly bear who could maul anyone who crosses his path. At 6-foot-3, 306 pounds, he probably could, actually. Off the field, though, the South Florida offensive lineman is more of the gentle giant type, more likely to channel his natural power to more productive ends — such as last February, for example, when he hulked out on a 3,500-pound car to save a man trapped underneath. From Friday‘s St. Petersburg Times:
- Natural, but an extreme example. First, he did not lift a 3500 lb. car. He lifted a corner of a car which had 60% of its weight in the front end. The lift was a matter of just inches and for a moment. It was done with the assistance of two other men. The actual weight could have amounted to something like 800 lb., which a 300 lb. man could lift momentarily for a few seconds. That's especially true with an adrenaline surge. My mother was barely over five feet tall, but she suffered from schizophrenia. In some of he manic episodes, she demonstrated a strength that was astonishing. She once swatted a half-in. diameter steel bar aside with one hand, bending it as if it were a coat hanger. I had to use a sledgehammer to duplicate the feat. That's not to detract from the heroic rescue, but it certainly didn't require the aid of an invisible magician
- Q: 1) A stuntman drives a car (without negative lift) over the top of a hill, the cross section of which can be approximated by a circle of radius R 280 m. What is the greatest speed at which he can drive without the car leaving the road at the top of the hill?
- If my overweight sister-in-law is the driver, I would be surprised to see the hill could stay up, as the car reaches the top.
- Q: one side of my car molding has lifted itself from the windshield
- They make an actual windshield mold adhesive for that. Prob get at any auto part store. Or department store that has auto section. Would not use imitation kind. Might have same prob later. Chances are the rest will prob be coming off sometime soon. Best only fix 1 time. Keep left over for later use on other side.
- Q: My daycare is in these apts. So when theres no parking the apt manager lets you park in the hadicap spot to drop off your kid. Everyone does it. I dropped off my girl at 5am. gone for litterally bout 2mins and this tow truck is backing up to my car. I didnt know it was for me. i thought it was a car leaving. So I started to get in my car when i saw him put the bars under my tires an lift the car. He wouldnt let me go till i payed $100 to drop it. is that leagal?!
- yes and you got off lucky. 1. the department manager has no legal right to tell you that you can park in a handicap space, only someone with a permit may park there. And as a handicap person, I call the police anytime I see someone there and when I was a police officer I ticketed every vechile parked in a handicap illegally even when I was off duty. But once they start the hook up, you are not suppose to interfere with the impound, ( you could get a ticket for trying to get into the car while he is hooking it up.) And honestly he may not have taken money to let you go, he was suppose to impound and make you get it out of impound and pay the fine and the tow. Most likely he pocketed the 100 dollars and reported you were already gone, but that is just my guess,
- Q: I know traction plays a big part but I was j/w how much hp a car generally needs to lift the front wheels when doing a drag run.
- assuming you are in the US you could go get a bolt on wheel thru a Performance bike shop (if you have one near you) for about $28. It is a standard bolt on wheel that I recommend but since you dont say then Im just guessin' here.
- Q: I've seen the lifts that you drive up on and they have a motor to lift the car, but they are expensive, I'm looking for something that I can drive up on with all four wheels to a fixed height, kind of like driving your car up on 4 rhino ramps (which is VERY difficult on my driveway).I thought of nailing together some 6x6's and then building som kind of ramp to get the car up on them, but if I'm going to spend time under a car I'd rather use something not built from wood.
- Why do you need the whole car off the ground? just jack it up with a floor jack, and support it with jack stands. One side at a time.
- Q: 2006 Buick LaCrosse CX 22inch rims fit?
- well, the cheapest way to do it is to find lifting springs. you can usually get a set of 4 for $200. eibach would have the best ones.
