Q: At what weight range should a patient (not able to weight bear at all) be lifted by two people instead of one ? at what weight range is it no longer safe to lift a patient without a power lift ? Just want to check the guidelines others use compared to what I suggest.: I'm sure there's concrete guidelines somewhere. but do what is best for you! If there's any way I can nab another person to help me lift someone, I'm going to do it. It's safer for the patient, safer for me. If you feel like this person's weight MIGHT not be manageable, go get someone else to help you. It's more comfortable for the patient as well. Patients who have lots of tubes and strings, I'll always get help, and always with anyone who is on a ventilator, because I don't want to accidentally yank something out.

All hoists have these safety locks on them. Raise it up and hold the release and then lower the vehicle while holding the release all the way down. I'm an auto mechanic by the way.
