Q: My water pump is losing pressure slowly even though no water is being used. Your help is appreciated. Thank you.
I vote for the check valve in the well drop pipe. The valve and seat are both brass - no rubber seal - so it's bound to always leak somewhat. If the leak has increased recently, it's due to wear beginning to show or a bit of sand caught in it. A little extra on the electric bill is a lot less than the cost of pulling the well to replace the $20.00 valve. Another possibility:Your pressure tank air cushion may have lost air and become partially waterlogged. This will increase the pump operation. It won't run as long but it will run more often. The system pressure will drop faster than normal. Perhaps this is what you perceive as a leak. Ask your well man how to check the air pressure in your particular tank.
Q: we changed the water pump in the car and now the horn sealtbelt light on the dash board and the speed aumator are not working what is the problem?
You damaged the throzzle knobs.
Q: We have just replced our hot water heater in our camper. When we turn on the water pump we hear it kick on and run. When we turn on a faucet water comes out then slowly goes away untill nothing comes out at all. It has been a year since we used the water tank, so its been full of air. The camper is pretty old, i dont know the specific date though. Could it be low water pressur? any help would be greatly appreciated.
Check to see if the water pump has a filter on it. Could look like window screen or similar. Junk in that will fill up with pressure and cut the water off. If the pump stops running after a few seconds of flowing, its probably a filter. Once they get to a certain pressure, water valve opened or closed, they shut off to keep from burning up. If the water tank was left with some water in it, moss may have grown. Should flush it with some clorox and water. Check with a local dealer to see how much.
Q: i learned from wikipedia that the water pumps back to reactor where it is heated again and the cycle begins again. but then i saw this diagram
Its clear enough. The water is heated and changed to steam in steam generators. Then the steam is used to turn the turbines to form energy. The steam is then condensed using cold water. The condensed steam or water is then 'pumped back to the steam generator' to create steam and the cycle continues. Need any more help ? feel free to mail me.
Q: I want to know how to start up a water pump so i can move up to my camp.
There's a few different kinds of water pumps. If you're referring to a hand-pumped well water pump that doesn't work, then it's generally lost it's prime. Some well pumps are constructed so you pour a quart or so of water into the pump and stroke the handle up and down until the water rises in the well. Other kinds of well pumps you have to take the hand pump off and pour a bucket of water into the well hole. It just depends on what kind of water pump you have.
Q: I am selling a 96 eclipse that needs a new water pump. I am willing to sell it for an offer as is, but I would like to fix it and sell it for more, so it is as if I am getting paid for the labor. My question is, is it possible at all to change out a water pump on a 96 eclipse without pulling the engine out? Like through the passenger wheel well access panel or anything?
It is possible, I wouldn't even consider pulling the engine out. The water pump is usually connected to the timing belt, so you'd have to worry about timing it all up after pulling the belt off to replace it. However, being that your eclipse is an inline 4 cylinder, it shouldn't be hard at all to time.
Q: 1998 jeep cherokee water pump
Chuck has an excellent step by step write-up on doing the job yourself. Is that your question, how do I change my w/p? If not then please edit to help us help you. (I sound like Jerry McGuire) On Chucks write up I just never wait for the RTV to set up at all just put it on and snug down the bolts.
Q: I have a 1997 ford ranger, during last week i noticed that the temperature started to go up, i noticed that the coolant recovery tank was empty so i added coolant and it fixed the problem, but a day later i noticed that the tank was empty again since it started to overheat again. This time i let the engine cool off and checked the radiator water levels and noticed it was dry with no water, so i added water and noticed that i was leaking from what it seems the water pump (im guessing its the water pump because is behind the engine fan, behind the belts, its hard to see), Does anyone have a possible explanation or suggestion of what i should do? Thank you i would really appreciate it.
it sounds to me like the weep hole on the bottom of the water pump is leaking. This is what it is supposed to do when the water pump bearing gets some play. You should be able to look from under the engine and see the bottom of the water pump, it will probably look all clean as water has been running out of it. This is how you tell your water pump needs to be replaced. Generally speaking it is best to buy a NEW WATER PUMP, NOT A REMANUFACTURED OR REBUILT. The reason for this is a new water pump will last a lifetime of a vehicle generally speaking, so you only want to do this once because its a pain in the butt. and this is the time to inspect heater hoses, radiator hoses and chang the thermostat . This should solve any issues with the pump leaking, so get the front end of the truck safely up in the air, and make sure there is not a hose leaking or something simple, A shop would do a pressure test of the system and this would show them where your leak is. As a temporary measure you can leave the radiator cap loose so pressure does not build up this will keep the fluid in the vehicle, and not blow it all out the weep hole, just don't leave the cap so loose it blows off on the road somewhere, as long as water stays in, and the radiator is full you can use it.
Q: I have a 1996 Volvo 960, wagon. I need to replace the steering and water pump on my wagon, and I am wondering if any how can give me instructions on how to do so...
hey, im a 960 dude, b4 U touch that water pump belt let me tell U U CANT change that ya`self it is very complicated and very precise on that dohc the marks-most likely are worn and they have to be PERFECTLY lined up AND there is a special tool needed to hold the cams in place as the belt is inserted that mostly only volvo specialist have,,,if this procedure is not done right it will blow the engine,,, and the other advice is good too,,,
Q: Okay my well water pump keeps turning on and off, i can hear it click on and off. Then the water stops running completely! What is wrong with it?? It has been doing this since last night.
mine did that and it needed a new captive air tank, I think they call it the part that sits in your house and fills with water. they go bad, unfortunately there is always a pretty price tag for that kind of work.
