Q: Living room sofa is 3.3m long, tea table is 1.2*0.6. then what size of carpet is more appropriate?
Don't press with a sofa feet. there must be space between sofa and television wall, just more than 50 to 60 cm to the tea table. the size of the carpet is determined by the size of the living room, if there is space ubder the sofa feet, it does not look good. . there is no uniform industry standard. Generally put in 10 centimetres in the sofa, not fully covered, because it is not easy to clean.
Q: my brother is balding, he wants to get a rug and says they look great......he can afford it but it costs a ton.....I said just shave your head...what do you think??.........carpet it or shave it clean?
Gotta have a certain kind of face to really pull off a shaved head then again rugs look crap - shave it.
Q: We have a wall-to-wall berber carpet, and we want to make it into a smaller area rug (perhaps 9'7quot; x 11quot;). Has anyone done this sort of thing before? If so, what was the approximate cost, and who did you call to service it? I tried some local carpet stores to no avail. Thanks for your input.
Done that. It works fine. Check with someone who does oriental rugs.
Q: Help! what can I do? That rug really tied the room together!
Washing your rug can be perfect , but in removing tough stains why not use white vinegar , this will remove stain effectively, afterward sprinkle amount of baking soda to remove bad smell, and then vacuum it.
Q: I want to make carpet skates but don't know what material to use.
u don't really need much to make them. Carpet skating is possible if you use any material under your feet that will slide on carpeting. This also works on hard floors, too. To skate on carpet, start with a pair of nice thick socks. Cut out plastic foot pads for the bottoms and sew them in place. The plastic bottom will slide on the carpet without hurting the carpet material. To skate on wood, linoleum or any hard floor... just use the thick socks. Some kids do this without thinking about it. Carpet and sock skating is like any other type of skating. Please be safe. Don't try it near obstacles or furniture. Make sure surfaces are clean. Keep it simple. Real carpet skates are pretty cheap and probably offer a better surface for sliding:
Q: I have carpet in my great room. The color is desert sand. I have two small children who have spilled drinks and other things and stained the carpet in several places. Is there a home remedy to cleaning this carpet without having to hire Stanley Steamer or rent a rug doctor? I have a Bissel steam cleaner, but it just doesn't do the job.
the stains go into the pad.....and when you shampoo it, it only removes the surface stains, then the stains in the padding seep up through the carpet.. you can forget kool-aid stains ever coming ouy of carpet.. you can replace the pad, then shampoo the carpet yourself. or put tile or laminate flooring in the room where the children are.laminate flooring has come down in price.
Q: Does anyone know how to make homemade Kirby carpet shampoo?
Unless i am doing it fallacious the kirby doesnt suck the water again up off the floor like most commercial cleaners. So i'm thinking no you must use the distinctive stuff.. Now not sure though.
Q: I have a nasty old carpet and I don't want to replace it until I decide to get ceramic tiles or fiber glass vinyle. I went to Ikea and bought large area rugs. They move when we walk on them and they wrinkle. I used doubled sided tape, it didn't work. Can I use Gorilla glue? should I spray water first before using the glue?should I use super glue? I own the place, so it is ok to glue rugs to the carpet.
I would not use gorilla glue on anything you need to walk on. Gorilla glue foams up like styrofoam if it usn't clamped tight and the dried foam is a bit fragile and will crumble. Super glue will soak in and not hold the pieces together. I can't think of a solution, but perhaps there's an answer at Ace or Home Depot hardware store. Perhaps staples will work out, or carpet tacks, unless the floor is cement.
Q: I just got an estimate to professionally steam clean a 9 * 12 turkish area rug - the estimate was for $440 which seemed high to me, but I have no reference point - is this a reasonable price? I am located in New York City - Thanks!
I'll go out on a limb here and guess that $440 is NOT high ... first, it's an Oriental ... second, you are in NYC. And ... it's a big rug! Oriental rugs need to be handled with the utmost care. I would call around to several places for price quotes. I don't actually have a point of reference, either ... but I'm betting that (in your area, at least) you'll find that the price you were given is well within ballpark range. Did you buy the rug new? If so, call the retailer and ask for a recommendation. You may be able to get a break on the price for a referral from the rug seller. If you bought the rug secondhand (or bought it mass-market ... or don't know where the rug originally came from) ... you're probably stuck paying top buck, but BE SURE to get the estimate in writing before you have any work done on the rug!
Q: How do you clean the grease spots on the carpet?
First use soda powder in oil, the light shoot into the powder soft carpet, after 1 hours, until the oil is absorbed, using a clean brush to gently brush powder.
