1. Rug (on the floor) = der Vorleger 2. Carpet = der Teppich 3. Curtain = der Vorhang 4. Classroom = das Klassenzimmer 5. Pen (= ballpoint pen) = der Kugelschreiber (short: der Kuli) 6. highlighter pen (= special pen in bright colors) = der Marker 7. Mechanical Pencil (= propelling pencil) (a pencil with a lead inside that can be moved down by pushing the top of the pencil. = der Druckbleistift 8. Ruler = das Lineal 9. Eraser (for white board, green board, black board) = der Schwamm (green and black board) 10. Eraser (used for removing pencil markers on papers) = der Radiergummi 11. Marker (= marker pen, used to write on white boards) = we use to say der Edding. I really don't know why we don't have a proper word for it. You could say Filzstift but it's not really the same, it's smaller and in English felt pen would be the correct word. What we call der Marker is a highlighter pen.
Q: I am looking to purchase an area rug. I finally see one that I love. It's made from viscose rayon. Would that be a mistake to buy. It's very reasonably priced. I have no intention to buy a $500 rug anyway.
You can secure it with double sided carpet tape if you are concerned about creep. The home improvement centers sell it and it works very well to secure the area rug I have under my dining room table. Viscose rayon would indeed be a good choice in an area with chair traffic, food and beverages. It won't hold stains or smells like wool does, will be easier to clean than silk and is better quality fiber than nylon. If the flooring that it is going over is hardwood or ceramic tile, you can also purchase a non-skid underlayment that will protect your floors and stop creep. Go for it and enjoy!
Q: anyone know the difference between the two? any info would be great thanks!
Bath rugs usually have a non-skid coating on the back so they don't slip when they are wet. They can be made of anything...I've had fuzzjy synthetic ones, looped cotton ones, a whole array of materials, but if they were designed for use in the bathroom, they had a non-skid backing on them. Kitchen rugs are often reversible. My favourite are the rag rugs, tightly woven colourful cotton rugs made from twisted rags, often in colour schemes (in my pair, the dominant colour is blue). They are durable, colourful, absorbent, easily washed in the machine, and release soil much better than nappy rugs. And they are dirt cheap...I have a pair in my kitchen that have been in use for more than 10 years and I paid less than $5 each for them in a place like WalMart or a dollar store. They are just now starting to fray a bit!
Q: has any one had them out to clean your carpet and if so is it worth the money? give me some stories good or bad about them
Used them many times and they are very reasonably priced. If you aren't moving your furniture (which we didn't) make sure they put everything up on blocks so as not to stain the carpets until they dry. It's a normal procedure for them but they can mess up and your wood or fabric that touches the wet carpet will stain it. When they are done your carpets should only be damp and not wet to the touch. If they are wet don't let them leave until the carpets are only damp. Stanley Steemer is a franchise operation so not all franchises are great. I use them for a whole house cleaning but use my own steam cleaner much more often. I have saved a lot of money by owning my own steam cleaning machine which is a Bissell. I can keep up on carpet cleaning routinely as opposed to waiting until the carpets are in dire need. I would recommend after you use Stanley to buy your own cleaner.
Q: How to remove the musty smell of carpet
Rice flour can remove musty smell of carpet. In addition to using a vacuum cleaner: After humid weather, home carpets are easy to get dirty and musty, you can spray some corn flour, this can get rid of the musty smell of the carpet
Q: Iam looking for others that can help and inspire a begninng rug hooker. I just completed my first project using burlap and wool yarn. I cannot find the same burlap or yarn in the area so would love to find some via internet or the SC/GA area. Walmart carries a very flismy burlap which I do not like, and acrylic yarns which split

Q: We have a nice rug that moves around alot on the hardwood floors and I want to know what the stuff is called to keep it from moving. I can't for the life of me remember and its driving me crazy. Any help is great. THANKS!
Hi, okorder /
Q: bought a hookah to celebrate turning 19, and my cat knocked over the hookah while we were smoking. Lets just say there is a nickle sized burn in the carpet. Is there ANYTHING I can do? My bf is being a jerk and told me I need to sell my hookah now since it burned the carpet (he doesn't want it in the house anymore), and I'm extremely irritated because it is mine. I am so glad I wasted money on the thing that I am now not allowed to use.-It is not illegal. I smoke legal shisha out of it.-we are renting the house from his parents, and are looking for the least damaging way to cover or fix it. I have no problem explaining this to his parents, but would like to fix it if possible.
Cut out the burnt section and glue in a piece of scrap carpet! Go to a carpet store and get a carpet repair tool. They're only a few bucks. Some adhesive disks and carpet glue. Now take your cutting tool and cut out the damaged section. Be careful to not cut through the carpet fibers themselves. Next cut a replacement section from the donor carpet also being careful not to cut the carpet fibers. Next you will peel off the cover on the adhesive disk and place it in the empty hole. Now put some glue around the edge of the hole and insert your patch trying to match the grain of the carpet. (Carpet has a distinct grain). Press the patch firmly into place and put a weight on top of the area. Let it dry at least twenty four hours before putting the carpet to use.
Q: i've asked this question 3 times before, but it hasn't worked :(Red is booked in for a trace/blanket clip in a couple of days, and i was wondering if i would need to rug her up a little bit more? she is a thoroughbred chestnut (someone told me that chestnuts have thinner skin??) and is in a 100g fill w/ a neck rug atm....the coldest it has been lately would be about 10/11 degrees c....the next rug we have is a 250g fill with neck rug, so it's quite a step up...Um... yeah... would i need to start putting that on, or do you think she will be O.K??
It's too late to clip now really unless your horse is in a LOT of work, as it will take off the top of her summer coat so she will lose her coat's water-shedding and wind-proof qualities. If she still has quite a lot of her winter coat, I would say it's time to give her a good groom over with a shedding blade and rubber curry and a bath on a dry day if you can. If you really are set on clipping her for whatever reason, stick to taking the least hair off possible and go for putting her fleece or cooler rug under the light one in the day and the warmer rug on at night. You would be surprised by how cold it is at 2am!
Q: No one has ever seen a spherical rug. Why did Allah not use the word quot;Kurahquot; (Arabic for spherical) before the word quot;Earthquot; like all Arabic texts do today?
Hmm.... are you being deliberately simple, or have you never came across geology in school? The correct description for the Earth crust is a rug. As like a rug it's spread over a surface but not tied or nailed to it. We know this today as earthquakes occur when this rug shifts in some places to either level out, or bunch up like a loose end. It has nothing to do with spherical as you're implying. It's purely talking description and not shape.
