Q: My chair is a bright yellow linen fabric and I need it to look vintage.Will the coffee eventually cause mold? Thanks in advance.: If you are going to 'dye' your chair fabric, it needs to be exposed to very hot water or the dye won't take. Mold won't form unless the fabric or the chair are not dried all the way through. You can't know that until you have mold in the chair! Besides, hot water will make the fabric shrink. Why don't you find the perfect upholstery fabric and have the chair re-covered. That would work 100%.

Q: I found a very cool shaped very old chair at a junk shop for $5. It is in fairly good shape and sturdy (none of the arms or legs wiggle). But it is missing the seat, which I would imagine was one time a woven cane seat that has fell out. I would prefer not to re-cane a new seat (I have done this before, but I don't find it comfortable to sit on this type of seat and they don't wear well). I would much rather put in a padded upholstered seat, but am not sure how?
