- This happened to me once, but whatever you do; don't make up a story. Just tell the truth and tell her that you are willing to buy her another chair. Making up a story or trying to repair the chair may backfire and cause your mother to lose trust in you. She may be mad at you for a while, but if you apologize seriously and are willing to pay for another chair, eventually she will forgive you and build more trust.

- the chairs are made of shock resitant steel that means that most of the impact is reflected on the hands of the person hitting them ... it will still hurt your opponent a bit because it is steel...but not as much as a normal steel chair would ...and they usually put their hands in the way the steel steps are actually steel .... but it never hits the head ... they usually just tap their opponent or put their hands in the way (but it is a very light level of steel with a softer material underneath) the steel shovel is steel ... but they dont attactch it properly so it falls off the second it hits something .... so there is little to no pain hope this answers your question but they are steel STARRED

- You have to look at the chair in its original context. Look at other furniture from 1929 and you won't see anything else like the Barcelona chair. Mies van der Rohe and Lily Reich were pioneers for designing this chair from heir choice of materials, minimal lines, construction (stainless steel had just been developed). When properly built to original specs, it takes a lot of high quality materials and skilled labor to produce -- around 28 hours of labor is involved. $3900 is not much for 28 hours of labor considering all the sales people, craftsmen, managers, suppliers, delivery people, laborers needed to build and move one chair. Plus all those people require work buildings, offices, insurance, cars/trucks, phones... etc. $3900 only gets you the cheaper model, there is one made of higher grade materials at $6,000. When the chair was originally designed, it did not sell for that dollar amount, the price has been adjusted for inflation, but it still was not cheap back then, it is and will always be an exclusive item. Surely, the chair can be mass-produced by machine now and sold for cheap at Target, but then it wouldn't be an exclusive item anymore. BMW and Lexus could cheapen their products for everyone to have, but then, why bother? There are Corollas and Ford Focus for the ones who don't want to/can't spend the money. By the way, it's not a simple chair at all, it's very complex, it just looks simple because in the past 7 decades, other chair designers were inspired by that iconic design. It;s iconic because it was ground-breaking, an original thought at the time. To say it is simple is to say paper is simple... yes it sort of is, but it took humans millions of years to get around to inventing it.
- Q:Hi, i had a chair a long time ago that was the shape of a shallow bowl and was made of wicker and roughly 5 ft in diameter. I have found similar chairs called saucer chairs but none of them with an independent base or made of wicker. Also it had an independent cushion/pillow that sat in the wicker frame.I found one once and it had a strange name, anybody know what im talking about?

- You don't need a chair and you can't exercise while doing anything else unless it involves exercise. You need a screen break at least every hour for your eyes. You can do pressups, situps, crunches etc. without the chair.

- Instead of a fork lift that is noisy, and expensive, consider a simple machine: Using common steel scaffolding behind a curtain set a piece of pipe bolted to the bottom of the chair and long enough that it can be counter balanced behind the curtain. The counter weight can be comuted using torques summed around the connection of the rope to the pipe. The idea is to balance the weight of the chair and your volunteer so that the chair will suspend. You will also need an assistant behind the curtain to make the fine adjustment and to keep the pipe level. The intermediate support keeps the system level while the chair is on the floor. The ropes have to be strong enough to lift the weight of the chair, the subject, the counter weight and the pipe. Assume about 400 lb. Under this tension, you will want pulleys that provide about 10:1 advantage so that your second assistant can manange the task. Suspend the pulleys from the scaffold, put the support under the pipe, have the subject take a seat, connect the counter weight, have your second assistant operate the rope and pulleys to lift the system while your first assistant keeps the pipe level.
