Q:Well, my mom placed some rug doctor in my house, and I'm having shortness of breath, stuffed nose but no snot, and my head kind of hurts, and what can I do to stop it?
me too badly first my feet started to ich then my body broke out into red bumps . its got to be the chimical but rug docter is denying the whole thing . blaming it on my carpet or things that wheer not on the serface but deep in the carpet thay are asses and where no help to me . i took a shower and half to where shoes on my feet but i went and bought a cheep machene and used only hot water in it to get it out and its a little better never use it was the pet type and the dog never in my room and before no allergy to laying on the carpet before
Q:What is the reason for the arch rise after the carpet is cleaned?
Flatten it!
Q:How to remove the musty smell of carpet
Sun exposure.
Q:How can I tear out the carpet in my bathroom (was already in there when moved in) and what tools will I need?
Pulling the carpet is no problem. It may just pull up by starting at an edge or you can help by simply cutting it with the mentioned above utility knife. BUT! Work carefully. You might have a cool floor underneath and you don't want to cut at it with the knife. And the carpet is held at the edges with a tack strip. Use care near them or the tacks will stick you and they hurt!! Sounds funny, but I use pliers to grab and pull.
Q:MY CAT HAS BEEN PISSING ON MY RUG. NO WHERE ELSE IN THE HOUSE JUST THERE. BUT I SEEN HIM ALSO GOING TO THE LITTER BOX. HE IS FIXED.
He wants to get back at you for being a bad owner. Next time, he better piss on you.
Q:If I lay down a lot of rugs in my apartment (I AM ON THE 3rd FLOOR SO I HAVE SOMEONE UNDER ME). No complaints as of yet but I want to turn it up a bit will laying out alot of rugs help or not? If you have a better idea please help!THANKS!
This Site Might Help You. RE: Will laying alot of rugs down soundproof the floor? If I lay down a lot of rugs in my apartment (I AM ON THE 3rd FLOOR SO I HAVE SOMEONE UNDER ME). No complaints as of yet but I want to turn it up a bit will laying out alot of rugs help or not? If you have a better idea please help! THANKS!
Q:Yes... i have been staining a part of my wood closet doors. While this has happened... i had accidentally gotten a few small spots of stain on the carpet. Does anyone know how to get these out?
I just had to remove oil based paint from clothes from a vandalism and I used rubbing alcohol. The paint had been dried for a couple of weeks and did come out of some things but not others. I would try pouring rubbing alcohol on it and blot it up with some old towels. Let it sit long enough to break up the stain but if its fresh it should come out. Lighter fluid is also supposed to work.
Q:We have a fairly large area rug in our living room but over time it has become wrinkled. I don't want to buy a new one yet, so how can we get it to lay flat against the carpet and not bunch up with stubborn wrinkles anymore?
Wet it and hang it outside to dry, using clothes pins directly on two corners, or completely flat against a fence.
Q:I've just moved into a beautiful older home (125 years) and, although it's been recently re-wired, there just isn't always an outlet where I need it. I live with my elderly mother and do not want to take a chance that she might trip over a cord. When I do short tasks like ironing or vacuuming, can I slip the excessive cord under a rug so that she will not encounter it with her feet. She is absolutely sure that I'll burn the house down - and she's incredibly intelligent, but I'd like to hear from a real fire prevention expert.Thank you for your expertise - I think that safety is essential - paranoia is a bit much, though!
Folks, it is oh so important to READ carefully, the question you're considering answering. I see absolutely nothing wrong, in the least, with this lady's idea of putting any excess cord under a throw rug so that her mother doesn't trip on it. As long as you don't forget it, and leave it there, you're perfectly safe. Check the cords in question to be sure they're in decent condition, don't put cords under any rug or sheet or anything of that nature that is showing wear of any kind of the insulation around the wires. As long as you observe a few common sense ideas you should be safe as safe can be. If, in the future, you find yourself wanting more recepts than you currently have, you could purchase one of the new multi-outlet extension cords used by carpenters, electrians, builders, workmen, in a #12 size wire. It won't be real cheap, but they come in 25 ft, and 50 ft. lengths. You could plug that into one outlet in any room and run it around the outer edges of the room to wherever you want electricity. You can leave it there indefinitely, as it doesn't draw any juice as long as nothing is plugged into it. Being on the outer reaches of the room, it's easily hidden by running it behind a cabinet, or chair or couch, etc. We live in a house built in 1904, so 106 years old, we've done this in many rooms, and are still utilitizing them to this day. We also have much of the old ball and tube wiring functional in our basement and a few walls.
Q:The rug will hang on a wall. The major background color is white, so it will need to be cleaned about once a year. How should I clean it?
Any spray adhesive should work, look in the local craft store. For a more finished appearance, rugs and wall hangings should be bound. You can use either a sew on binding or an iron on. To finish without binding, cut canvas at least 3 holes beyond the outside edge of the design, fold to back of rug , match mesh and baste in place. To finish with binding, cut canvas at least 3 holes beyond the outside edge of the design, then cut the corners diagonally about away from the pile. Then with right side facing you, sew one edge of the binding as close as possible the knotted edge. Turn so the back is facing you, then fold back and sew the other edge of the binding to the back of the rug Miter corners and stitch down Finishing a wall hanging: Start at upper corner, sew on binding around both sides and bottom of the rug Then with right side facing you, sew one edge of the binding as close as possible the knotted edge of the top of the rug, turn over so the back is facing you, then sew down making sure you will have enough room to insert a rod or piece of dowel through. Alternatively you can just bind the rug in the normal manner, then to hang, sew on large wooden curtain rings, slide over a wooden rod, add wooden finials to the ends of the rod and hang. As for cleaning, my best advice is take it to a reputable cleaner, tell them what it is made from (type of yarn, etc), and ask if they can clean it with no damage. If you want to try washing it at home, use a good rug upholstery cleaner diluted with water in a bucket, then clean the rug by working a foam with a sponge, then using the foam gently rub into the material. Then dry by gently rubbing with terry cloth (towel). I would test a piece of yarn to make sure it's colorfast, first.
