Q:So my carpet (40 year's of age) was torn out my bedroom this morning.And what do ya knw!! there was a beatiful hardwood floor underneath. I saw all the stains/mold on the carpet and whatnot.Before I had trobule breathing and would wake up with a headace every morning becuase of the smell. However, I can notice a slight difference in smell but not a drastic Now, I can't decide if I should get a new carpet or just live with the hardwood floor that's already there. . I still have to sweep the dust and mop. Getting a brand new carpet is expensive. But with a hardwood floor in the winter it can be a little uncomterable. Any idea's??: How about sanding and varnishing the floorboards? It can look so lovely, but it is a chore to do. Hire a sander and maybe sleep in the living room while the varnish dries. Put down a few rugs to keep it warm?

Q:Where can I buy cheap carpet tiles?: check out the carpet stores in the area. if you can't find the tiles, ask about remnants.

Q:We are building a new home and selected a stainmaster 50 ounce nylon carpet for the rooms that will be carpeted. Anyone have any opinions on this carpeting or personal experiences? We are carpeting the living room and bedrooms--we're very happy with that decision, just wondering about the quality or wearability of the carpet if anyone knows.: I used to work in the flooring industry and I am a dog owner. They used to say that the dogs were attracted to the smell of the glue they used to put the carpet down. Is she chewing at a seam in the room. If not she may be attracted to some other smell in the manufacturing of the carpet or pad itself. You need to try to get her attention off it when she starts to chew. Or like the previous posts find something to spray there that smells or tastes bad.

Make sure you've gotten all the soap out of the carpet because that can actually attract more dirt! Also try cleaning the surface the rug was on. Sometimes the smells can get trapped there too. Take wet wash towel and microwave then rub or use an iron over the wet towel directly over it to dislodge the bonding components. CAUTION--the iron method can cause permanent damage to carpet fibers if applied to hot.
