- Kookie: By rug doctor I am guessing that you mean she cleaned the carpets in your house with the rental carpet cleaning machine made by the rug doctor company. If she used their cleaning solution, it might be that you are reacting to the chemicals in the carpet cleaner. Lots of cleaners use formaldehyde. If that is the case, you can try a couple of things #1. Re clean the carpets using only vinegar and water #2 Treat the carpets with zeolite powder to absorb the chemicals If you are not familiar with zeolites, they are volcanic rocks that are used lots of ways. Because they are negatively charged, they trap and absorb most chemicals and organic odors (those are generally positively charged). You would want to use some crushed up zeolite so it can get on the carpet fibers and get the chemical absorbed. I'll give you some links to read about formaldehyde and zeolite. The vinegar would work as well, but your house is going to smell like a salad for a while. Good luck!
- Q:I recently spilled some glue on my carpet and in the process of getting it out I caused the carpet to stretch some and bubble up slightly. My question is whether or no the apartment complex will make me replace the whole carpet or just pay for it to be patched? It's a four person apartment in a college community where everyone is on separate leases and there is a visible seam between the living room and the hall way so i doubt I would have to replace the carpet for the whole apartment but maybe the living room. Can they charge full price for carpet if it is roughly 3-4 years old and had stains on it when I moved in? My lease states carpet repair costs between 100-200 dollars but they reserve the right to charge more. The deposit was waved when I signed the lease. I live in Kentucky if that make a difference.

- Perhaps your husband has an aerosol can of Brake Cleaner in the garage.Spray some on to a white terry cloth towel and then gently rub the grease, it should transfer into the rag. This product has a slight odor to it, so do this cleaning when it is ideal to do so. Get the rag out of the house when you are finish to get rid of what odor you have control over. I used to use Trichlorethane III for this, it was un flammable, but now substitute aerosol brake cleaner. Do not use carbureator cleaner as this is to smelly. Charcoal Lighter fluid will also work as will WD40, the Brake Fluid Aerosol is faster. Do not allow any solvents to come in contact with the adhesive in the backing of the carpet.

- I don't think a purl stitch rug is a standard thing that would have a video. It sounds like a design made specifically for that book. The thing is, there is no need to purl a whole rug when it is generally easier to knit than to purl, and a purl is just the back side of a knit stitch. So you could knit the whole thing in whatever shape you like and just turn it over to have a purl stitch rug.
- Q:Ok last night my kitty had a bit of an upset stomach and umm... went to the toilet all over my white rug!!! It is machine washable so I washed it twice with tons of detergent, the smell is gone, but the brown stains are still there! Any ideas??
- Vinegar works very well on stains. Trust me! My dog has had an upset stomach several times, but you can't tell! I know you took care of the smell, but for future reference, vinegar takes care of the smell too. Spray/pour some white vinegar on stain, scrub with a carpet brush/scrub pad, rinse if possible, then vaccum. Hope this helps
- Q:Funny but its stained red! How can i get it out of the carpet.
- Use an enzyme-based product designed to remove pet urine/poop/vomit/odor from carpet. (It doesn't matter if it's human vomit, the pet product works for that too.) I recommend Nature's Miracle, but there are others as well. If you don't have such a product in the house, get out what you can now with dish soap and water, and use some baking soda to neutralize it. Neutralizing it is important, b/c vomit is acidic. Then buy an enzyme-based ASAP and go over the same area.

- well, maybe you should move the rug, unless its a big one, into a different room, because it may be the rug, i had a cat that had a littlerbox, and but she would only do #2 in it, and my dad has this really really really nice room where no one can go in it except him [lol] and the cat would always pee on it, and the day before we had to take her to the pound, my dad picked it up and found 20 pee stains on it! no joke! but you could probably put the litterbox in the same place that she does #2. =] or change the litter, see if that helps!! best wishes and good luck!!

- Follow these steps to remove blood stains from Carpet/Synthetic, Carpet/Wool, or Foam Rubber: Mix 1 teaspoon of a mild, non-alkali detergent with 1/2 pint lukewarm water. Add a small amount to the stain and blot the liquid. Do not force the stain further into the fibers. Continue blotting until no more stain is removed. If stain remains, add 1 tablespoon ammonia to 1 cup water (do not use on wool), sponge stain, and blot liquid. Continue until no more stain is removed. Place an absorbent pad over the damp area and weight it down. When no more liquid is drawn out, remove the pad and allow it to air dry thoroughly.
